Lunesta and melatonin

Common Questions and Answers about Lunesta and melatonin

lunesta

Avatar f tn I used a very small dose for a while and didn't have any bad effects, but it didn't really help all that much. Well, let me back up --- if I took a 5 mg dose, it helped me sleep, but I woke up so groggy, I couldn't navigate the next day, so I dropped back to 3 mg; wasn't quite as bad, but still left me groggy - maybe I wasn't getting enough hours of sleep, I don't know.
Avatar n tn I never tried remeron, but ambien was horrible and so was resterol the taste of the lunesta that it leaves in your mouth is horrible so there is no easy answer but I did find the ativan did help for a while and I still take it with the lunesta and I agree if I get a good nights sleep the next day is much better.
Avatar f tn It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.
Avatar m tn The highest available dose of Lunesta is 3mg. Recently, thought is that Lunesta, Ambien, and others in this class are very similar to benzodiazepine drugs. But I haven't read much about addiction or withdrawl from these meds. Seems like insomnia would be a given, but you could try melatonin or valerian root to combat that. Good luck either way.
527657 tn?1214051850 I usually watch a little tv, read a book, then get sleepy, and fall asleep. It really helped me, and I take it every now and then. It is natural and not habit forming, which I really like.
Avatar f tn Hey all, so I got tired of not sleeping more than 4hrs a night after being off of Tramadol 42days and my Dr gave me Lunesta. I asked if it was addicting and he said yes but you won't buid up a tolerance to it... I would like to hear this though from someone that has taken this medication and has had to come off it... How hard was it? What where the wds like???ect.ect any info on this would be appreciated...Thank You. Jeffi.
Avatar m tn 1.25 is a bit high of a dose to jump, but doable. I found lunesta worked one night, then I had to wait a few nights to take it again. I rotated lunesta, melatonin, and St, John's Wart to keep my tolerance of any one down. Nothing seemed to help for days 5-14 or so, just had to read all night and stretch a lot. I never liked Soma, so no advice on that, accept use them sparingly. Your brain and body can only detox on subs stance at a time, so if you take nothing you will heal faster.
Avatar m tn My doctor offered me Lunesta, but I'm not excited about another pill. I haven't slept much for two weeks and wondered if it was worth a try. Melatonin and Benadryl haven't helped much.
Avatar m tn t slept more than 3 hrs in the last 10 nights, last night I took a lunesta with a couple of melatonin slept from 400 to about 530.
Avatar m tn I've taken ambien and lunesta. All sorts of problems with ambien including abuse. None of those issues with lunesta. It's still a hypnotic and anyone taking them should be educated about the drug and cautious about its use.
Avatar f tn When I kept forgetting to take the second dose, he suggested the 30mg X-RAY And it seemed to work extremely well, I was not sleeping at all, had lots of stress and went through a number of different antidepressants, they all pretty much made feel hung over and generally like crap all day. He suggested Lunesta and it seemed to work enough to get atleast 6hrs of sleep and felt well rested the next day.
327369 tn?1326119908 I have some xanex that helps sometimes and I have tried melatonin but nothing is great at helping me. I do not like lunesta or ambien because of side effects. Oh well....just wondering about others out there and how you handle it. Being awake when everyone else is asleep in the house depresses me!
Avatar n tn i have a chemically induced daze, little fatigue , muscle aches amd slight insomnia and melatonin doesnt seem to kick in , so i tale a little Ativan and it helps a little.
Avatar m tn can i take lunesta and zoloft and zyprexa together
Avatar m tn ve tried it Rozerem is one alternative that unlike Ambien or the medication you mentioned or Lunesta does not have a potential for a person to build up a tolerance to it and is an FDA approved medication that works like melatonin to adjust the sleep cycle. You could ask your psychiatrist about that.
Avatar n tn I have tried Lunesta and it worked for a year and I am now on Xanax which I seem to have to take more and more of to sleep. What can I do?
Avatar m tn My doc prescribed Lunesta and I took that for the first time last night - slept for only 2 hours and woke in a hot sweat. That was it for the night. It seems that my stomach pains may be stress-related and that this may be the reason I'm waking up and can't get back to sleep. I'm having a difficult time making it through the day due to lack of sleep. Also feeling kind of foggy from the meds. Never had sleep issues before my trip.
Avatar f tn You might try taking a combination of Valerian and Melatonin when you stop the Lunesta. I was taking Lunesta in my early withdrawals and it did make me sleep, but that nasty taste was to much for me. I must say I haven't really slept really well since, but the herbs I mention do help somewhat, I take a hot bath before bed then I take them. From what I've heard Lunesta withdrawals are mainly mental, but you can get addicted to just about anything.
1139187 tn?1355706647 I get the same thing once in a while, the dizzy spells on and off, but no special time of the day, they are not specific, the same thing with insomnia, it comes and goes, some nights I will sleep straight through like seven hours, and others I will only sleep 5 and thats with taking #3 Lunesta. I get the symptoms and I am taking meds, I just started on Armour a week ago, I have those same symptoms now, but I hope it is just the transition period.
Avatar n tn Which sleep aid is less addicting and less toxic, ambien or lunesta. I have heard ambien is hard on your liver.
454795 tn?1205936319 I took lunesta myself, and it also gave me a horrible taste in my mouth, but that's one of the side effects of the lunesta. my husband took it b4 & he didnt have the bad taste, but i sure did! it was ughhh, but i fell asleep shortly after!!!
17644146 tn?1458782868 I've tried everything to get a good night's sleep. Doctor also prescribed Lunesta, which gave me UTI; so i discontinued. I've tried all the over the counter remedies (including Melatonin), but none worked. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good natural remedy? Tried CalmForte; Alteril, Valarian, Somnapure, etc. Someone said it is just part of being in my 70s, but I don't believe that. Any suggestions that have worked for you?
519035 tn?1348275773 I was recently started on Lunesta 3mg and it works well. I have had some nights where i am wide awake and bushy tailed about 4 in the morning, but I took the Lunesta about 8pm. I'm thinking it was a little too early. I have found if I take it a little later about 930. I sleep through the night. And feel very refreshed in the morning.
1017452 tn?1254904998 My hubby's 35 days clean off methadone and isn't sleeping. His doctor prescribes him Zopiclone on a weekly script but he's going through it in a few days. He takes 2 and that'll give him about an hour and a half sleep then he takes another 2 and sometimes another 1 before morning. He's got a demanding job and people keep saying to him...gosh you look terrible...have you not slept?
410475 tn?1262942367 Or Lunesta. Now for 3 days i am off of it and just taking melatonin 5 mg. and L-triptophan 2 or 3 of those. I have had 2 pretty good nights actually and am hopeful that it will get even better. All of those meds are habit forming, the sleeping ones and pain ones, all except the benadryl you mentioned. While you get leveled out and off of all the other you will probably have some sleepless nights but it will get better. So, i encourage you to cut back and go to these more natural things.
736314 tn?1276884623 You could also ask about Rozerem which being related to melatonin adjusts the sleep cycle and has less of a potential to loss effectiveness over time. And also there are some general books and ideas on sleep hygeine that can help you establish regular sleeping habits that will help as well.
