Lunesta and ambien together

Common Questions and Answers about Lunesta and ambien together

lunesta

Avatar n tn I dont know why it is making me nausea. My doc then perscribed lunesta 3mg. Has anyone tried lunesta and experienced better sleep with it? I am afraid of trying lunesta because i dont want to feel so nausea again. I didn't take any sleep med last night...didnt have a very good sleep but still i feel nausea. I need something to help me sleep without causing nausea and to help me sleep like a baby throughout the night pleaseee.
Avatar n tn Now I am post TX and the insomnia has not yet left, so they prescribed Ambien and Lunesta for me (i grew allergic to something in the benedryl). They are all harmless to liver but the ambien & lunesta do cause dependence so I alternate them: Ambien for a couple nights, then lunesta (which does not work as well for me) for one night. The 'dependence' is not a big deal; just means you'll have a several very sleepless nights after you quit them.
Avatar m tn this is just my experience, and I'm not on tx yet...I can't take Lunesta and ambien, ambien makes me feel nutzo the next morning, but many people are fine with it...I take ativan if I have had a lot of sleepless nights in a row, and at a very low dose...I find tranquilizers lull me into sleep, which I prefer...best of luck...
Avatar n tn But there came a point where I was taken off of Lunesta because I have other health issues and i was tired all of the time and sleep wasnt a problem. Now it has become a problem again and the specialist treating my other health issues put me on Ambien. I try other things before taking the Ambien. I dont get sleepy with over the counter meds. So that I dont get so worried about addiction, I take my Xanax instead of the Ambien periodically. But NEVER EVER take them together.
1102799 tn?1269237714 my firend took Ambien and ended up taking his car out after going to sleep and going to a bar and then smashing his car into a tree and woke up in jail. I was the last to talk to him before he fell asleep that night...he remembered nothing at all.
Avatar m tn can i take lunesta and zoloft and zyprexa together
Avatar n tn Which sleep aid is less addicting and less toxic, ambien or lunesta. I have heard ambien is hard on your liver.
Avatar f tn I started taking Ambien & Prozac in Oct 2009. I started building a resistance so my doctor prescribed for me Restoril, that didn't work so she started me on Lunesta. After I started building a resistance to the Lunesta my doctor prescribed for me Ambien CR 12.5mg. It's now March 2010 and I need 4 or more Ambien CR to sleep. I can't sleep without it!!! I haven't taken the CR 12.5mg in 24hr and I have the common addiction symptoms.
2021910 tn?1339896686 I'm on Ambien every night, otherwise, I would only get 2 hours of sleep a night. The benefits outweigh the risks. My doctor said there is a chance of depending on it to put you to sleep, but when my newborn comes, I'll wean off of it from having to be up with him all night. I even took Ambien with my first son, and he was born picture perfect. Get some rest!
Avatar f tn It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.
1355301 tn?1287967641 I actually found that when I tried Lunesta (or had to switch to it from my normal Ambien because I was in the hospital and they only use Lunesta there) - that I had the same thing happen to me. As soon as I was able to go back to my normal Ambien, it stopped. I wonder if it's a side effect of the Lunesta... but maybe not since you said taking the Lunesta actually helped the situation for you.
Avatar m tn The highest available dose of Lunesta is 3mg. Recently, thought is that Lunesta, Ambien, and others in this class are very similar to benzodiazepine drugs. But I haven't read much about addiction or withdrawl from these meds. Seems like insomnia would be a given, but you could try melatonin or valerian root to combat that. Good luck either way.
Avatar n tn Hi, As another 'nocturnal' person I can relate. I also use Ambien and Xanax (not together!). The Ambien will give me exactly 3 hours of sleep (sometimes it doesn't work) but it seems to be a fairly good quality of sleep. The xanax makes it easier for me to fall back asleep after I wake up but the sleep quality does not seem to be as good. Also, I am drowsy and groggy in the morning.
Avatar m tn I'm taking Lunesta for insomnia, it has less side effects than Ambien (or so they say). It works well for me, but I have had to re-increase from 2mg to 3mg. I had the sleep issues of not being able to fall asleep ~and~ stay asleep. I use to take benedryl, tyenol pm, melatonin, sleep aids, and vesicare (for I.C. that is suppose to make you sleepy also), to no avail. Lunesta has been a life saver, and hopefully when my Ts get straightened out I can come off of it too.
Avatar m tn I've taken ambien and lunesta. All sorts of problems with ambien including abuse. None of those issues with lunesta. It's still a hypnotic and anyone taking them should be educated about the drug and cautious about its use.
Avatar n tn I never tried remeron, but ambien was horrible and so was resterol the taste of the lunesta that it leaves in your mouth is horrible so there is no easy answer but I did find the ativan did help for a while and I still take it with the lunesta and I agree if I get a good nights sleep the next day is much better.
Avatar n tn In an attempt to ward off tolerance to Lunesta, I now alternate ( 2 weeks at a time) between Lunesta 3mg and zolpiedem ( Ambien) Since the zolpiedem has a much shorter 1/2 life than the Lunesta, I take 5mg about 11:30 and another 5mg at 3:00 or whenever I awake. The Lunesta usually allows for 6-7 hours of continuous sleep.
Avatar m tn I'm no doctor, so I definitely can't give you any medical information on Ambien, but I can relay my personal experience with it. I've been on Ambien (currently 10mg) for SEVERAL years now (5 or more). I have many chronic pain conditions, including fibroymalgia. One of the major symptoms of fibro is insomnia - which I definitely suffer from!
Avatar m tn I have a problem staying a sleep also, or I did. I went to the health food store and I'm taking valerian and time released melatonin together and it seems to work. If I wake in the middle of the night I can go back to sleep with no problem. I use to take prescription sleep medications but they quit working and my doctor wanted to put me on valium but I didn't want to take them.
526311 tn?1229286330 it sounds like you are already taking too much of both the Lunesta and Ambien..(why both) are you taking so much of them to try and get high??I understand how hard it is to get some sleep during and after w/ds..but in this case..the old saying..if 1 is good...2 is better...NOT SO..You are going to end up with a dependancy on sleep meds and possibly harm yourself..please be careful..
Avatar n tn I have a terrible sleep disorder and have tried numerous products to sleep @ night ie: Lunesta, Ambien, Ambien CR, Remeron, etc. The best thing I have found, and it's non addictive/no side effects , to take a benedryl 1/2 hr before I go to bed. Make sure to get at least 6-8 hours of sleep.
Avatar f tn You HAD to have gone through something after Xanax and 3 mg of Lunesta for 4 years. I just went through an Ambien taper over 4 months. I had been on Ambien for less than a year. Mostly 7.5mg a night max. When I went through vicodin withdrawal I upped the dosage to 10mg, which was my script max. I have had withdrawal symptoms galore.
Avatar f tn Thank you for answering me. I just don't know what to do. Tonight and last night it was xanax and I still can't sleep yet. The night before last it was ambien and before that it was lunesta. it seems like every four five days I start clenching my teeth and grinding my jaw really hard it hurts that I have to go back to the xanax. This is horrible and I am goiing to run out of ambien soon only ahev a few lunesta left, then only xanax about 90 .50 mg. How do i stop this?????
Avatar m tn It has come to a point where I need to medicate myself with several different medicines in order to fall asleep. I usually take Ambien 10 mg and I take two od those and sometimes Xanax 1 mg. I have noticed that Ambien doesnt really help much anymore. I just feel weird when I take it. Sometimes when I dont take anything to sleep and I manage to fall asleep, I have very vivid dreams and nightmares. Even after taking medicine, I dont usually fall asleep until 4 am and I am up at 8 or 9.
Avatar n tn I agree with Mammo as far as the exercise during the day and relaxing before bedtime. I, too have to watch T.V. or read to fall asleep. Pure quiet is my worst enemy. I also use an air cleaner for white noise. I don't know which benzo you are taking, but there may be a better one for you. Ambien did nothing for me when I had insomnia due to anxiety. Neurontin (gabapentin) helps with sleep due to anxiety and has no dependence issues.
Avatar m tn I have been on Ambien and other sleep aides prescribed by doctors and they never mentioned it interferring with my TSH level. I had a TT due to graves disease almost 15yrs ago. Insomnia was the only symptom that never went away... Currently I am on Ambien to help me sleep, but I only take it once every seven days because it will not work if i take it more than that.
Avatar m tn Hey Bear, the sleep meds like Ambien and Lunesta are hypnotics. They use the same receptors (GABA) as benzos. I'm an Ambien survivor. I got hooked on 10mgs for just 9 months, and it took 4 months of tapering to get off of them. That was 3 years ago. I still don't sleep good.
Avatar f tn You might try taking a combination of Valerian and Melatonin when you stop the Lunesta. I was taking Lunesta in my early withdrawals and it did make me sleep, but that nasty taste was to much for me. I must say I haven't really slept really well since, but the herbs I mention do help somewhat, I take a hot bath before bed then I take them. From what I've heard Lunesta withdrawals are mainly mental, but you can get addicted to just about anything.
