Lump under jaw swelling

Common Questions and Answers about Lump under jaw swelling

lump

It was the size of a medium-sized egg, but now it has spread out like an pancake. I also discovered a hard lump under my left jaw this past February (almost where the curve of jaw is). It's grown a little since I first discovered it (it was about the size of the tip of a fingernail at first), now it's about the size of a large pea, hard as bone, immoveable.
What is most worrying now is that I noticed just yesterday a slight swelling under my jaw and there is a lump. It is tender at touch. I should probably also mention that I have heavy facial hair growth from ever since and I have been removing hair from my face with creams for years. I have now stopped since this breakout for fear of irritating the skin any further. My skin apart from the acne and scars is now extremely dry and even taut.
Hi, I have had a hard swelling under an old root canal on my lower right second last molar. I went to the dentist and had the tooth removed and had a course of antibiotics. The dentist showed me a large black hole on the x-ray and said it was an abscess. I was going to have an implant inserted but when I went back 6 weeks later the hole hadn't closed enough.

I would say swollen lymph node, as well, though this doesn't always have to be painful. Is the lump soft and moveable, or hard? The swelling under the right ear may very likely be a lymph node, too...but it doesn't make sense that it would disappear 15 minutes after you have eaten. Have you had either of these things evaluated by a doctor, potentially a specialist like an ENT?
Hello, I have found a lump under my mouth, which is right below my gums by my jaw. What can possibly be there that would be a lump? It has me worried....I have an appt for the ENT soon but it is driving me nuts. any suggestions would help. Thanks!
I woke up this morning and I don't know how I noticed it, but when I woke up I noticed a lump about the size of a marble on my left jaw. It feels like a bruise, but it I touch it enough the pains goes away. It doesn't move, and feels like it's attached to my jaw. I have no idea what's going on... I had one last year, but I think I could move it, and it went away after a few weeks.
i have a lump under my ear behind the corner of my jaw andit hurts all the way to the front of my ear. not in it the front. and its way under the skin what can i do?
Hi, I'm hoping for some help with the following problem, as having just finished a course of antibiotics ( azithromycin 500) for a suspected "lymph node infection" which apparently is pressing on the Trigeminal nerve. I am still finding the pain unbearable, & feel its only subsided slightly.
about a month later there was swelling next to my jaw bone under that tooth and a hard lump which wasn't extremely painful but tender to the touch. I figured it would go away which it did but has come back bigger than before and very hard like bone. The swelling goes away slowly but the hard part stays there next to my jaw bone. I am seeing an ear, nose and throat doc. who is requiring a panorex be done so he can see what it looks like.
The next day I had some disconmfort with the left side of my jaw(I had slight pressure and pain while eating and moving the left side of the jaw). Because I was moving my jaw laterally a lot I thought maybe that was the reason. But this morning I wake up with definetly a bit swollen left side under the ear. I can feel it from the outside, and it is about the width of my index and middle finger when feeling it. It's swollen between the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the jawline.
I have a hard lump under my gums. It isn't white. It feels like it is really up under my gums, but very hard. To the side of the roots of my tooth .... or maybe it is, somehow the roots themselves. It is a quarter of an inch too far out - swelling, a really bad tooth ace etc. occurred. This all happened after I got those two teeth worked on. Told my dentist, he took xrays and denied any existence. Told me to wait a while. I did, it got a lot worse.
I finished the course for both meds over 2 weeks ago and at that time I still had a small lump, infection at the bottom of jaw directly under the molar. 3 days later swelling returned, also swelled and hardened inside on the gum. Oddly the swelling has moved to the front lower portion of my mouth now. Of course I am still numb on that lower quarter of my face as well.
Doesn't change a thing.
I have a pea-sized hard lump in my jaw right under the area that I have a broken molar where a crown once was. The remaining tooth is brownish/black. any thoughts when the lump might be? Would Cipro help if I have a full course available? Is is really freaking me out and I won't be able to go to the Dentist for at least 8 days...
ok on the right side about an inch under my ear and an inch from my jaw i have a hard lump under my skin that feels like its attatched to muscle thats there. there is a masquito bite on top of it but they dont seem to be related to each other. does anything know what the possibilities are of it being cancer? i am 15 turning 16 in September.
however this lasted for about 1 week with swelling under the ear which also went a few days after the ear was unblocked.
Had a partial root canal done and the same thing is happening to me; jaw and ear pain, swelling around the jaw area, sinuses draining. I've been dealing with this since the really July from a routine filling but it really got bad on Dec. 22nd 2006, when I hurt from my right side of my head down to my jaw and over to my ear. My dentist did say that my tooth needed a root canal and he did a partial but the pain is still there. appreciate any input.
The only difference is that I was also seeing some swelling in my right cheek and jaw line. No one else seemed to notice it until I pointed it out. Now it is Sunday morning and I woke to find my cheek and jaw line severely swollen. The tooth doesn't really hurt anymore but now it is the whole lower right side of my face. From under my ear (at the joint) all the way to my chin is tender, tight and swollen. Instead of having a curved jaw line, it's almost completely square on the right side.
Very long story short -- The surgeon said I have swollen lymph nodes under ear, under the jaw and full feeling ones over the jaw right in front of the ear that may simply have nothing to do with the goiter. He gave a prescription for antibiotic and made a followup appointment for June 10. Do you think whatever infection is in my nodes could be the problem with my thyroid? He also indicated I needed to starting taking the levothyroxine the endo prescribed.
Last saturday I noticed a smallish lump on my left jaw bone. It felt moveable, no pain. I went to the hospital, and the doctor there said it looked like a tooth absess. So went to the dentist on Monday, and its not an absess. Since then I've been on anti-biotics (4 days), and the lump has gone down, but now my cheek feels mildly swollen...also my jaw does feel bigger on the one side. Got xrays today, and I'm freaking out. They said either tomorrow or Monday...
Ive got painful lump under my right ear by the jaw line.It is really painful and the pain shoots up past my right ear. What is it?
On the side of his jaw where the swelling is there is a lump on top under the skin that is soft, but the actual jaw muscle both lower and upper towards the top of his head is much larger that the other side. The emergency vet suggested an MRI if it continues, and I'm really scared he has cancer or a tumor. I have been doing some research online and the closest thing I found was craniomandibular osteopathy, but it says that that is mainly in new born dogs.
Yesterday I've discovered a lump under my right jaw line which I believe is a swollen lymph node. I've always had a very hard bean-shaped lymph node on the left side of my jaw about 1-2 cm in diameter, and now there's a elastic painless lump of about 5 cm in diameters on the right side. Before it developed I could hardly feel the lymph nodes on the right side of my jaw.
I'm a 24 year old female-a couple of months ago I woke up with a painful pea to marble sized lump under the skin on my ear. It is located right where my ear connects to my head, on the bottom. Like if I were to pull my earlobe away from my head, it is in that "flap" of skin. Because it was painful and hard, I assumed it was a boil as I have had these in the past. I treated it with warm washclothes and heating pads, but the lump never softened or drained, however, the pain did go away.
I took off my shoe and saw the ball under big toe swelled. No swelling ever lasted more than a day—usually less. I am not paid to say Zyrtec is a wonder—honest--but my symptoms went away almost immediately once I started taking it. 9 days later I have had no problems. It does make me a little drowsy.
