Common Questions and Answers about Lump under ear behind jaw

lump

I have this small lump behind my left jaw line and under ear for almost 1 years now, it does feel pain and uncomfortable, I went the 2 different ENT doctors and did 2 CT scan, one with ink one without both report come out nothing....... but the small pain and feeling it still there also feel pain infront of my ear and inside mouth around jaw join but open or close jaw doen't feel pain. So should I try a different ENT again?? or can this be cancer?? what should I do now??
But I also noticed a few months ago that I have a lump under/behind my jaw, also on the right side. It moves around. I never thought much of it because it didn't really hurt, whenever my jaw ached I assumed it was because of the displaced plate and I thought the lump might be linked to that issue. But I have a bad cold at the moment and now the entire right side of my jaw is terribly sore, when I feel the lump under my jaw, it now hurts. I don't know if this is a swollen gland?
I just thought I'd add that the lump isn't by my jaw, but rather half way up my ear and directly behind that. Sorry if that's even more confusing than what I posted.
i looked where it hurt and there is a hard bump/lump behind her ear on the bone part (not on the ear itself). i touched it and it hurts. it's about as big as an eraser on top of a pencil or a pea. it is not red or anything (skin color). i get very worried about these kind of things and will give her dr. a call but in the mean time i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what it may be? like i said, i am worried.
i have a lump under my ear behind the corner of my jaw andit hurts all the way to the front of my ear. not in it the front. and its way under the skin what can i do?
It was the size of a medium-sized egg, but now it has spread out like an pancake. I also discovered a hard lump under my left jaw this past February (almost where the curve of jaw is). It's grown a little since I first discovered it (it was about the size of the tip of a fingernail at first), now it's about the size of a large pea, hard as bone, immoveable.
Hi, I'm hoping for some help with the following problem, as having just finished a course of antibiotics ( Azithromycin 500) for a suspected "lymph node infection" which apparently is pressing on the Trigeminal nerve. I am still finding the pain unbearable, & feel its only subsided slightly.
I have discovered that there is a lump right under the ear where the jaw connects. That whole side of my face is swollen, hot and painful. It is also triggering headaches and causing the muscles from my jaw and all the way to my left shoulder to swell! One other thing I have noticed is that a small part of my left side of my tongue is going numb. Should I be at the doctors tomorrow or the emergency? I don't smoke, don't drink, I don't take any illegal drugs.

Hi All, I am a 23 year old female and about 3 months ago I found a hard, immovable lump behind my right ear. There is one behind my left ear too but it is much smaller. I went to my Dr and he said it was just part of my normal anatomy. I wasn't convinced. I went to see another Dr who said the same but done a blood test anyway. The results came back clear.
It's painful to yawn and to fully open my mouth. There is now a small bump located directly under my ear, behind my earlobe on my neck inbetween my jaw line and the large muscle on the right side of my neck, that little soft spot or pocket inbetween the skull and jaw.... The pain is moving into my ear and causing me to have headaches all through the day all on the right side of my head. Any ideas what this could be from? Is it worth going to the doctor for or should it go away?
About 5 months ago I noticed a little smaller than a pea (I would actually have to feel around for it) beside my jaw bone under my ear lobe. Now it is about 1cm maybe a little smaller but deffinatly bigger than it was 5 months ago. I have no pain associated with it and no sxs of infection or illness. I feel very healthy and well. I do not have any issue with my salvary system AEB no excessive mouth watering or pain when i think or eat lemons and salty things.
My problem in the left side of my head has come back after being silent for a short time in summer. I have pain sometimes under the ear, sometimes in or behind the ear. Temple pain has not occurred recently. The pain comes most often in early morning hours. I had also some congestion up in my nose, when I was in bed. Very viscous postnasal drip has slightly increeased. I have had postnasal drip for more than ten years. In the autumn I have had red flecks in mouth mucosa and sticky saliva.
I also have these problems. I have a small lump behind each ear but the 1 behind the right ear is bigger. I am also getting headache, earache and have a sore throat. I went to the doctor 3 days ago and they said it was a throat infection and the lumps were just lymph nodes. I dont see how a throat infection would give me headache and earach. He gave me antibiotics but they dont seem to be helping. I am going back to the doctor tomorrow as I am very scared now.
I'm a 24 year old female-A couple of months ago I woke up with a painful pea to marble sized lump under the skin on my ear. It is located right where my ear connects to my head, on the bottom. Like if I were to pull my earlobe away from my head, it is in that "flap" of skin. Because it was painful and hard, I assumed it was a boil as I have had these in the past. I treated it with warm washclothes and heating pads, but the lump never softened or drained, however, the pain did go away.
Now I have this swollen lymph node under my R ear just behind my jaw bone...and my ear feels weird also. I pray am not getting another migraine...they are pretty much when I ovulate and b4 I start my period and maybe a couple in the month sporadically. I had a car accident and caused serious damage to my lower back and neck, i have CONSTANT needle pricking in my toes and numbness in both hands and feet 24/7. Went to the hospital....
I think I know what you are talking about. I too have lumps, just under the ear behind my jaw bone. It was always a very tender spot for me on each side. I noticed the left side bump was way larger than the other side. And the left side would often give me sharp random pains now and then. I asked many doctor's what could be here causing this? No one could really answer my question with confidence.
I then began to experience slight jaw pain in the area below the ear. Hurts when I chew. Internist xrayed my jaw to rule out TMJ, and that came back negative. He has no other suggestions. I went for about 1 1/2 weeks until this past Monday, with no feeling of fullness or anything. The slight jaw pain was still present. On Monday, it begun to feel not normal again. I don't necessarily have ear fullness, but the area behind my ears near the jaw feels odd inside.
i found a pea size lump just behind my ear at the corner of my jawbone.. it doesn't move or hurt. does anyone have any ideas of what it could be?
i just now started getting these pains behind my ear too. im a 19 years old college student. i get a sharp pain behind my left ear. i counted it 12 times yesterday. its not an unbarable pain but its really wierd. if anyone has found out what it is please let me know.
The raised and painful gums could be due to an impacted tooth. The common causes for ear pain ear cerumen (ear wax) impaction, otitis interna (inner ear infection), otitis externa and inflammations. The lymph nodes could be enlarged as a consequence to this. A detailed ENT exam could help determine the cause. Consult your doctor. In the meantime, you can use OTC Acetaminophen for relief from pain. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Because I was moving my jaw laterally a lot I thought maybe that was the reason. But this morning I wake up with definetly a bit swollen left side under the ear. I can feel it from the outside, and it is about the width of my index and middle finger when feeling it. It's swollen between the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the jawline. I am not sure if it's a thyroid gland or an infection or just a thing that'll go away.
Now, a week later, the armpit pain is gone, and both the lumps behind my ear and under my jaw are virtually indecipherable... What I was wondering is a) what thismay be symptomatic of, and b) is it possible that the armpit ache might have been caused by my excessive fiddling with the lumps, which I believe to be lymph nodes, behind my ear/under my jaw? as in some kind of reaction in my lymphatic system to the interference?
Hi, My husband is 42 yrs old, and 2 weeks ago noticed a FIRM (not rock hard) oval lump around 1.3cm by1.8cm behind his left ear. It's a hard place to explain,It is right in that soft spot directly under the earlobe, right up in the soft bit where the crease is right up near ear cartilage. Went to Doctors he said its not the paritod gland and he said alhough its firm, it moves slightly he said it was a cyst, he said its smooth and oval .

Hello, I'm a 24YO female and I've had this very small lump on the inner jaw close to the bottom of my mouth for about 4 years. It's under the skin, it doesnt move and it feels like a cyst (I have one behind my ear). But I don't see anything when I look in the mirror and when I read about cysts inside the mouth it says you should see it and that you have to have it removed. Mine doesnt bother me it's just there but I was wondering if it is a cyst or if it could be something else?
I have a painful, tender to the touch lump behind my jaw under my left ear. It feels like I have some heat coming from it and it itches a bit. My jaw doesn't click or pop and my ear is fine, no fullness or ache in it. As it's tender, it is painful to even just touch. any ideas or suggestions?
