Lump on dog's throat

Common Questions and Answers about Lump on dog's throat

lump

Yet if she develops any new lump, even though I know almost 100% by now what it is, I do still take her to the vet for the lump to be checked out. The secret with a 'lumpy' dog, is keep an eye on every single lump, get to know what it feels like, if there are any changes. Or if any new ones develop. I do my dog's 'lump check' about once a week or so. She loves it! It means she gets a full body massage!
She has what I would consider a large adams apple or voice box, whatever that large lump in a dogs throat is!!! I feel really bad for her. When this happens during the day she begs to go outside and when she does, she will eat leaves, vines or grass...anything she can get ahold of. At night she will stay in her bed, but I will hear the clicking and her gulping for a long time. Usually when she has an episode she will have it again several times over the next day or so. What could explain this?
My miniature dachshund Sophie all of a sudden developed a small golf ball sized lump on the left side of her chin right by her throat. She seems to be in a good bit of discomfort but no pain that I can see. She is eating and drinking but she is certainly not her usual spunky self. When she looks at you, she has those puppy eyes that tells you something is wrong. Her breathing is different too. It's shorter breaths like she's uncomfortable.
its easier with a big dog then a small. you really have to shove it far back (with the head in an upward position) so that it's very hard for them to push it back up. you can put it in as far as you can, hold the head in an upward position until he/she swallows a few times (you can rub the throat to help encourage them to swallow), or you can try to chase it down with a piece of cheese or anything else he considers *yummy*. it's not obviouse but it's definitly something you can get the hang of.
I'm sorry for always asking questions and never being able to give advice on this forum, but everyone on here is great. How long can someone have thyroiditis? Does 20 months sound excessive? I'm still trying to figure out what's wrong with me. I constantly feel like I'm being strangled, my thyroid area feels "infected" and I can feel it pulsing when it gets really inflamed, am tired, and have other hypo symptoms. I also feel like I can feel a bump of some sort around my thyroid.
I am going to ask the Vets all of it on Thursday. Could that growth on her throat be her thyroid/adrenal? Kimpton, Now that u say It, I was told that the last ultrasound showed the adrenal gland enlarged. Hummmmmmmm????? Ginger, I will ask about the blood tests & cancer. She had enough blood tests done for me to get some answers. I also never considered the tumors might be benign. Thats a good thought. I will try to find out as much as I can. Hummmmmmmmm????? ggreg...
Well it never healed and we went back today because we found another round lump on his back leg!!!(i know ipulled something off of this lump but nto sure if it was a tick) Anyway vet told us he;d be surprised if it was cancer but I think that's bc of our dog's age.....an since puppies get cancer that means nothing... he aspirated him and we will get results wednesday. it looks lie my second young dog will die from cancer...i am a jinx.
We checked and there was nothing that we could see, but she was constantly licking her lips/paws/floor, swallowing hard (u could feel it in her stomach) and her throat seems to almost have a swollen lump in it....it probably lasted 10 minutes, after she had a drink of water everything was fine.
Your problems sound exactly similar to mine, I have been diagnosed with a larngeal abnormality after an injury in which the superior cornu of the thyroid cartilage is rubbing against the hyoid bone, I had occipital headache, jaw and ear pain and crepitus when I rotate or press in on my throat, clicking with swallowing is a treatable condition if you search the medical literature, I am actually getting surgery at UCLA for this condition.
Hi Tramadol Warriors, Welcome to Part 13! We're so happy to see you! Come on in and get comfy.
I've put warm compresses on her head and next to her body. There is a lump on the side around her stomach area. If we stroke her she purrs and has been purring and making sounds like she used to. She doesn't seem to be in pain, no yowling. She has opened the eye which she was bleeding out a little. Now it remains shut. From what I could see is that there is a scratch on the white eye covering. Is it possible to realign the jaw by ourselves? Should I just let her be?
I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. I will be 58 on the 28th of this month and no doubt I am old enough to be some of you guy's mom. My heart is breaking for you.....I feel so connected to each of you and I just want all of the "hurting" to stop.....I would do anything to get it to stop. You know...the "hair thing" is a major issue for so many of us ......those who don't have to face it haven't a clue.... we don't want them to, either.
You lay them right, and you can walk on them for years... Why are men's brains bigger than a dog's?...So they don't hump your leg at parties... How many men does it take to change an empty paper roll? Nobody knows, it's never been done... Why was the blonde's bellybutton sore?...Her boyfriend was blonde too... How do you know when a man is getting old?.. When his knees buckle, and his belt won't....
It's always the other person, never her. You are dammed if you talk to her, and dammed if you don't talk to her. It's like walking on eggshells all the time. You never know when the venom is coming. She talks about people in a nasty manner. She lies and when you call her on it, she denies it. She starts trouble with me and my siblings. My brother hasn't had anything to do with her in the last several years. No one wants to be around her because she is so nasty.
Prior to this, the only time she has ever cried from pain was when I accidentally closed the door on her tail. It's not a constant moan, but somewhat frequent throughout the night or in the evening when we are watching tv. While upright she appears fine and not in pain, she plays and runs as much as usual, so much so that people still think she is a puppy even though she is over ten. I've been to the vet probably ten times in the past six weeks or so.
There are some periods throughout the day where it's not laboured and I feel as if I breathe normally, but then it creeps up on me and I have to start yawning again. My nose feels very clogged all the time and my chest, stomach, and back muscles feel very constricted when breathing. It's especially noticeable when I am working out...especially running and lifting weights. I have to stop every once in a while just to yawn (frustrating) to stop from getting dizzy.
He has trouble with his back legs a lot now just suddenly giving out especially on stairs. He struggles to get up if he's been laying down for awhile. I also don't think he sees or hears as well as he used to. He's overweight which seems to partly go with the Cushings. We have him on a low-fat diet and it doesn't seem to help much. I try to walk him but he tires out easily and I wind up having to carry him home because he'll sit down and refuse to walk anymore!
The vomiting is so awful to watch in the end as it just goes on and on and on... There are many anti emetic meds to try. Has your vet not prescribed anything? Reglan (metoclopromadine) is a very cheap medication, unfortunately, it is also metabolized in the kidneys, so a too high dose results in toxic levels in the blood. My husband and I discovered that completely bypassing the GI tract by using reglan injections worked much better in the end.
I have been showering for 50 yrs and never had this problem. I read on another forum (regarding same thing) to use vaseline on a q-tip. Doctor said this did not sound like a good idea. My room mate decided to try it and is cured. I started doing it myself this morning. No itching. The draining actually keeps me awake. Will see if I have crust in the morning. Will let u know.
I have had it for months on and of. I have a lump constanly in the crease of my finger. If I go climbing or carry shopping bags its really painful. So I try to be careful not to put pressure on it to stop the "pop" which is even more excrutiating. Hope someone out there can help.
Just so everyone knows, I posted a question about our condition on a Doctor-to-Patient forum. So far there has been no answer, they're several days behind in posting answers. I assume someone on our old thread had asked them (MedHelp drs) before, but i figured it couldn't hurt to try again.
Hello everyone, after suffering for nearly 2 years with a mysterious neurological-like condition, I have almost given up all hope of living a normal life again. After a whole lot of research on the net, I have run into several postings with people describing my condition almost down to the exact letter. However, many of these posts are on some obscure website with the postings being months or years old.
I apply a bit of it to the affected area 1-2 times a day and around 4-6 days my rash was just about gone. I've only been on this stuff for 3 weeks now. I am starting to use less and less to see if the rash comes back. I hope this info helps you people out.

I hadn't worn any make-up or used any products on or near my eyes at all on Sunday, so I'm confused as to what caused it to return. On Monday and Tuesday, several people commented on the state of my eyes, especially the right one, which seemed to be in a worse condition. My eyelids were dry and painful to touch, especially in the corner and it was continuously weeping, until yesterday afternoon when it seemed to heal up to the point where it looked sore, but no longer felt it.
The size of the pursed lips also vary depending on how bad the irritation is and also, along with the redness small bumps come and go. The bumps though however are ever so slight and usually disappear within a couple days together with the redness. They don't appear anything like warts or herpes sores. Spotted redness might be a better description.
I have muscle spasm in or around the ribs on both sides (in the front under the breast and sometimes in the back at the same horizontal position), it feels like a ball rolling, in that it switches sides. It occurs even at night during sleep, painful enough to wake me. I only know that when I relax and stretch (the side where the knot is) using several positions I have to wait till it goes away, in many cases to have it return in other places described above.
