For the past 2-3 days I have had a lump in my throat that feels like I have something lodged in there, like I swallowed something to big and it will not go down. It is a rather irritating feeling. What could this be? What are some immediate treatment options? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I used to always clear my throat and cough...since having an air purifier in my home that covers the whole house; I've totally stopped that and found it to help all my children even in the midst of this WI winter - we've had no colds or flu or other respiratory ills. Here's some obvious signs in your own home that can indicate a need simply for air purification.
Hi, For the past day or so I have what feels like a lump in my throat. It is worse when eating. Whenever I eat something I will get a pain in my throat that will travel down to my stomach. I also feel like it is hard to swallow food. I went to see my dr about this and she thought it may be my thyroid but tests were negative. I have also had 3 episodes in the past 5 months where I get a pain in my abdomen (right about the naval area) which is always followed by nausea and vomitting.
VCD attacks, cough, voice problems, asthma, globus (feeling of lump in throat), constant need to clear throat, worsening of sinus condition, sore throat, pre-cancerous conditions of throat &/or esophagus, etc. SOME GER/LPR CONTROL THINGS WE DO, that we learned from the excellent book: STOMACH AILMENTS AND DIGESTIVE DISTURBANCES, by Michael T. I am worried about my throat which I feel like there’s a lump in it. I felt a pin-pricked on my throat thrice, and I feel like it is closing. I sometimes have a cough and I feel like there’s some mucus in my throat. Burping makes me feel better and takes away my heartburn. Help me, what should I do? I easily get upset and I have some panic attacks. I always feel tired and stressed. My EKG tells that I have sinus arrhythmia, is it because of gerd? What meds are safe for me? thank you so much.

i took amoxicillan for 10 days and now everything is almost back to normal except my sore throat won't go away and my ears hurt also. Now, I developed what feels like a lump in the base of my throat. I don't have medical insurance so I can't even go to the doctor. I'm hoping it is related to post nasal drip or a viral infection that will go away. It scares me that I could stop breathing at night even though it only hurts when I swallow. Could this be something serious?
I have been for 3 months now been feeling a lump in the back of the throat all the time, and when i eat it gives me a sharp pain when swallowing for a hour or so after eating. I looked in the back tonight and noticed that there was thin black lines in the back, but when swallowed hard many times, it disappeared down the throat, but does come back. What is wrong with my throat?
Anyway, back in September I went to my primary physican for a feeling of lump in my throat along with heartburn, bleching up food that I had eaten, burning feeling in my throat because it had been ocurring for about almost 2 months and she said that I Acid Reflux along with post nasal drip and put me on Aciphex. My smyptoms have seem to disappear except for sometimes I feel like there is a lump in my throat.
The cold has been gone now for a week, but I still have a slight cough. The problem is that I feel like I have a lump in my throat, like if I were about to cry. It started about 3 days ago, and sometimes goes away. I don't have problems swallowing, and my voice sound clear. Should I be worried? Or is this a product of a harsh cough? Please responsd ASAP!!!
You might also ask your GP is s/he would refer you to see an ENT/Ear, nose & throat doc, who can help you figure out for sure what's causing the "lump" feeling in your throat. There can be various possible causes of the throat "lump" sensation. One cause (among many) can be gastric reflux, which can be aggravated or caused, by viral infections. I have been bothered by a lump in my throat feeling and chronic hoarseness for at least a year. I constantly feel the need to clear my throat or cough. I finally went to an ENT. He has ruled out acid reflux, and I have been subjected to barium xrays of my throat and outpatient surgery so that he could use the scope to examine my throat and vocal cords. He found nothing.
Its a horrible feeling. The feeling of a lump or something caught in your throat is definitely a symptom of anxiety. I have had this myself many times while suffering anxiety and it always makes me more afraid and worry that something is wrong but then, in a few days or weeks (depending on the severity of the anxiety), it goes away.
I have been experiencing a variety of symptoms increasingly over the past two months including pronounced fatigue, constipation, cough and intermittent sore throat along with ear and jaw pain, swelling around my eyes each morning, a 10-pound weight gain in 30 days, charlie horses, and a marked mental fog and forgetfulness. Several days ago I began feeling a lump in my throat when I swallow that feels as if food gets caught on it.
Every once in a while I also would get mild chest pain and pain in my sternum. I also get this feeling that there is a lump in my throat but have tested negative for thyrhoids. My red and white blood cell has come back normal. Ultrasound if stomach is normal. X-rays of chest and stomach are normal. Ct scan came back normal also. Ive been to it could be due to acid reflex and heart burn but I don't get the burning sensations or the acid reflex coming up my throat. Anyone have a clue?
I have the same exact problem with a lump in my throat and excessive mucus in my throat for 6 months also. I have been to doctor after doctor and had every test done. Today I went to a 3rd ENT, and he put a camera in my nose down into my throat and actually saw the abundance of mucus along with swelling. All the other doctors told me it was GERD and it was just a sensation. I knew I wasn't nuts.
I'm not sure if it may be due to me being sick because recently I just got over a virus I think that made my throat very sore. Today I have had a lump in my throat all day long that feels like a big piece of food at least a marble size or slightly bigger that is lodged in there. When I swallow, any the food or liquid seems to move around the lump to go down and it feels very uncomfortable. When the area is pressed on, there is alot of pressure.
I have to constantly clear my throat and/or dry cough...and much of the time I feel a raw feeling low in my throat from this. Sometimes I get a stuffy nose with this and sometimes not...I'm not sure if they're related. As I said, I'm out of doctors and running out of hope...can anyone provide a miracle??? God bless.
Gastric reflux can cause coughing, extra phlegm, the need to constantly clear the throat, a feeling of a lump in the throat (globus), etc. A good ENT doc can do a laryngoscopy on you, to see what's happening in your throat & larynx (voice box) area.
