Common Questions and Answers about Lump in throat tonsils

lump

swallow with saliva, never with food) I have a click or a pop sound I can hear it and I can feel it on the outside of my neck, just to the right and just above my Adams apple. Along with this I have a palpable lump in the right side of my neck (it is about 4 fingers from the Adams apple and two almost three fingers down from the jaw line) it is long and skinny (about one inch long) and about 1/2 the diameter of a pencil thickness, the lump seems to move back and forth.
Last week I noticed some tenderness in when touching the outside of my throat. I went to look into the mirror to find the right side of my throat/tonsil (not sure the proper term here) was swollen and red and the left side had white spots. First thing I thought was oh great I'm getting strep. I use to get strep every year and the doctor at one time told me I need to look into having my tonsils taken out do to the chronic strep and they looked inflamed.
my tonsils at that moment were verry swollen and painfull. Then 2-3 weeks after i started to have a lump sensation in my throat...I tought it was tonsilitis so i went to emergency, they did the swab test and it came back negative.3 weeks later it was even worse so i went back to emergency again. This time they took x-rays of my chest and throat and sinus...doctor gave me antibiotic for sinusitis...it did nothing to releave my symptoms.
seems growng and hurts to touch swallow move any thing...what can i do..
A few months ago I was having alot of stress and kept feeling like there was a lump in my throat. Felt like there was something in my throat and wouldnt leave. Also felt tight as if i was being choked. about 7 weeks ago i went to the ENT for lymph node issues. He did a rhinoscope (stuck the camera up my nose) and told me i had large tonsils and adenoids. He did an ultrasound of my throat and neck as well. He also did blood. Everything came back normal. the sensation in my throat went away.
), which kicked my butt pretty bad - exhaustion, fevers, and my throat so swollen and sore I could not speak for 2 weeks. My throat is healing, very slowly, but now I have noticed a lump in the back of my throat. When I open my mouth, you can see, on the left side back wall of my throat, a walnut-sized lump pressing against the skin. Some times the lump seems smaller, other times it seems bigger. I have visited throat specialists and they have not even commented on it.

Now after two months of having it, i can feel extreme pain in my throat and in my neck when I move it. It seems now like i swallowed a big ball and it is stuck in my throat. I can't eat from this sensation. Can it be just stress and it's all in my head? Did anyone experience this before? If so, what did you do to relieve it?
VCD attacks, cough, voice problems, asthma, globus (feeling of lump in throat), constant need to clear throat, worsening of sinus condition, sore throat, pre-cancerous conditions of throat &/or esophagus, etc. SOME GER/LPR CONTROL THINGS WE DO, that we learned from the excellent book: STOMACH AILMENTS AND DIGESTIVE DISTURBANCES, by Michael T. Murray, N.D. See page 9, References, in my website: http://cantbreathesuspectvcd.com and, also see GER/LPR info on page 5, and on LINKS page.
I have this strange lump at the back of my throat near my tonsils and I can't figure out what it is. It feels like I'm almost chocking, this is very annoying and worrying for me Also I keep having these "muscle spasms" on my face (normally next to my lips) that only just started a few days ago, I'm also not quiet sure what that is too. I guess it's normal but I just want to say in case that is a problem too. Do I need to see a doctor about these issues I'm having?
Basically, this started a month or so into going to university. Ill be the first to admit im a shy boy and i found the lecture rooms and the amount of people at uni compared to school a bit daunting. However, about 2 months ago i got a sensation of a "lump in my throat"... it does not hurt and it does not obstuct my breathing or eating/drinking in any way that i can think off. its just really anoying and it wont go away.
About 8 months ago we noticed one of her tonsils seemed odd in comparison to the other. Its like it has a lump growing from it. This lump has got bigger since we first noticed it but seems to have stalled a bit. Both her tonsils are quite large and she snores terribly which often wakes her through the night. She doesn't have a history of tonsillitis or throat infections, but she does tend to choke alot whilst eating.
Hi, Couple of weeks ago I had a feeling in my throat which wan't sore throat. I just felt a bit of pressure or lump inside my throat. Kinda like when you are sad an you want to cry. Agai I went to an ENT office not because it was painful or really uncomfortable just because of my anxiety. He performed a nasal endoscopy to look at the back of my throat. He said my lingual tonsils seems to be causing this feeling and the reason for that is allergies and he suggested over OTC allergy reliefs.
), and the fact that I think my voice has changed - deeper, raspier, and all this for a sustained period of seven years after being diagnosed with an underactive thyroid, I now believe I have Tonsilitis! My tonsils appear to be redder and inflamed, looks like there's a big round lump on one of them.
I also since my last sore throat, dont feel like i ever fully recovered. but the reason I'm posting here is, I was looking in the mirror and saw what looks like a black spot (abscess?) behind my tonsils. I tryed to take a pic of it... hard to take a photo behind a tonsil in your own mouth with a normal cam. I can upload them via tiny pic, I wasn't sure if the forum allowed links though... anyway. what could it be? sound normal?
my throat has been hurting and now i looked in it and deep in there i see a pink lump its not my tonsils i know what they look like its more in the middle everytime i eat i vomit it back up i feel i have cold sweats at night and im only 17 so im not thinking cancer but i do smoke and have smoked for a while now someone please just give me an answer
So I went tonsil stone hunting and ended squeezing so many of those suckers out with my fingers. My tonsils immediately reduced in size. My right tonsil ended up shriveling up to almost nothing, and now it seems to have a flap as if I split my tonsil in half getting the stones out. Is that alright? That is my first and less important question.

I've had this constant lump in my throat feeling for days now. Nothing seems to relieve it. I actually tried to not eat yesterday except some tea, soup and crackers and it didn't go away. Could this be Acid Reflux? It's a horrible feeling! I feel like I've got a golf ball stuck in my throat! I can still eat but I did notice that I nearly chocked on my toast this morning. Maybe it was too dry.
hi im a 19 year old female and i have been having earaches, sore neck, fatiuged, sore tonsils, and a pea size lump on the back of my tongue near my tonsils i have been to the doctos two times saying the bump will go down after the medicine but hasn't and i still feel all the syptoms although the bump doesn't hurt at all the first time he gave me medicine for a virual infection for two weeks and it didn't work then prescribed me bacterial infection medcine for a week and this isn't working either
Went to first ENT and he prescribed acid reflux medication, which I took for a month without change in throat lump sensation. Went to Gastroenerologist and she didn't think I had gerd. She took CT scan to hospital for further analysis and determined I had a throat cyst. Went to her recommended ENT and he performed surgery and removed small throat cyst and viral wart. Still feeling persists. I had an MRI but results aren't back yet.
It may be a manifestation of how my body is compensating for the fact that I can't breathe as easily as I once did and/or the lump in my throat. Perhaps an endocrinology evaluation would be helpful for you if you're now experiencing additional swelling in your neck-region. Good luck and keep me posted!
I would think it'd have to very large to be noticed both in and outside your throat. In the middle of the back my throat, I have an odd shaped, hard bump too. My doctor is aware and I did have my tonsils taken out and sure my ENT saw it. Neither seemed concerned. It wouldn't be your tonsils, if at the back of your throat. Maybe the doc was meaning lymph node. I can say that mine has been there over a year.
