I have this strange lump at the back of my throat near my tonsils and I can't figure out what it is. It feels like I'm almost chocking, this is very annoying and worrying for me Also I keep having these "muscle spasms" on my face (normally next to my lips) that only just started a few days ago, I'm also not quiet sure what that is too. I guess it's normal but I just want to say in case that is a problem too. Do I need to see a doctor about these issues I'm having?
hi im a 19 year old female and i have been having earaches, sore neck, fatiuged, sore tonsils, and a pea size lump on the back of my tongue near my tonsils i have been to the doctos two times saying the bump will go down after the medicine but hasn't and i still feel all the syptoms although the bump doesn't hurt at all the first time he gave me medicine for a virual infection for two weeks and it didn't work then prescribed me bacterial infection medcine for a week and this isn't working either
I've had sore throat for about 2 months now too, it looks terrible, but the doctor's (and i've seen my share of them), simply say that it's Post Nasal Drip with possibly some Acid Reflux and maybe even allergies. Yup, a bunch of guessing, but no relief. As for your question about Lymph nodes, no, they are not the same thing as tonsils. Lymph nodes are found all over your body and usually swell up when your body is fighting off some sort of infection.

What does mint have to do with Globus? Any help with what you found benefical would be appreciated. Thank you Re: lump in Throat / Globus Hystericus From pennythomas [Log on to view profile] on 2005-05-17 Hello Lovingkindness, I used Ignatia 30c, not 6c in the end.
and sometimes it feels a little lower in my throat, sometimes a little higher. It feels near my tonsils. When I swallow I don't feel anything hard and don't have any problems with swallowing or breathing sounds in general and don't notice any change in my voice. I'm freaking that this might be cancer. I don't have any other symptoms like a sore throat or lump in my neck. I am a former light to moderate smoker and petrified to go to the doc.
Now and also then, it feels like I have a lump in my throat. I can actually feel the drainage and has to spit it out regardless of where I am. It is disgusting and I am trying everything, non-meds. My primary tried to prescribe me with meds that had all sorts of wild side affects. I use nasal spray that helps a little. I even tried allergy meds like Claritin-no good. My main lacking step is drinking at least eight glasses of water. I really wants to get rid of this problem.
constant tickle in the throat, white/yellow furry thick coated tongue, sour taste in mouth/taste distortion, fatigue, drowsiness, brain fog, depression, anxiety, constant burping/gas, sore throats when I lie down, shortness of breath, post-nasal drip, excess phlegm, excess salivation, extremely odorous gas and bowel movements, particles/powder in bowel movement, bowel irregularities such as diarrhea/constipation, a burning throat sometimes that can spread all the way up to the back of my neck n
But recently, just a few days ago, I woke up with a large, hard lump in my throat. It is located in the center of my throat..maybe a little to the right, and it's up near the bottom of my chin. When I first noticed it it was very large and you could see it sticking out underneath my chin with my head straight forward. I think it's gone down a little in size now you can only see it when I tilt my head back. This lump has caused my sore throat to actually be painful.
For 5 yrs I was having problems w/ white balls getting stuck in the back of my mouth. Finally I went to an Ear and throat specialist and was told that I needed to have my tonsils removed. It's been 1yr since I've had them removed and I still feel like i have something stuck in the back of my mouth. I find myself constantly clearing my throat hoping that it will remove whatever is stuck. It feels like I have bumps or something back there.
i have had experience with sore throat but in my case it was infection on my tonsils (pus) .I had them removed 2 years ago after a really bad episode when my jaw was stiffed that I couldn't open my mouth more than 1 cm and had extreme pain on my right side of the throat ,ear and maxilar...and only the third dr taht saw me could actualy spotted what was wrong - an abces behind the right tonsil.
1. About a year ago I noticed a lump on the left side of my throat (near my tonsils) it swelled up enough so that I could feel it there when I swallowed but was painless. I could feel it if I put my finger down my throat. In a few weeks I forgot about it as the feeling of it being there disappeared. ( I guess it decreased in size ) Now a year later I feel it there again for about 3 weeks. Again no pain but annoying. I was just wondering if there is a simple explanation for this. Allergy etc..

I had a right-side-only throat discomfort in varying degrees for over a month that my ENT diagnosed as tonsiloliths a couple of weeks ago, but since then, the right-side only lump/pain sensation has become a lump in the middle of my throat and seems to be getting worse. In fact, the PAIN is no longer there, now it is only this globulous sensation, like a dead area in my throat.
I have had a lump sensation in my throat for about two weeks now. Its to the side of my adams apple (letf) but internal feeling, in other words no lumps or bumps visible. What worries me is when I swallow I feel a dull pain or ache on this side and it seems to be consistent. I've had lump sensations before in the past and other throat issues, I seem to have a weak throat or something, always giving me issues eg. I cough a lot and get a lot of mucus or flem...like when you clear you're throat.
Some people experience allergy/sinus symptoms in different ways, my congestion happens in the throat, others in the nasal passage and others have watery eyes, needless to say, he prescibed FluNase or FluNose, with Zytec. This really worked for me althugh I used it just during the allergy season, when I experienced the congestion.
10 years now that i have this problem,in my ears back of my nose the string that comes out of my throat once in a while,ya i can tie a knot whith it soooo sticky,i take klynnex twist it in my nose and pull some of the mucus out,i feel it pull from the back of my eyes when i do get to pull a good peace out i get like a buzz feel so good air gets in pressure is better for about 1min,in my tears too, fells like fibers in my tears, cant live with this problem anymore,so many doctors scan operations p
Lower and mid abdominal pains continued on and in 2008 I had a colonoscopy which showed nothing new and no abnormalities. I had my tonsils removed due to recomendation from my ENT. they were always irritated and were suspected as part of the problem with swollen lymph nodes, etc. I no longer had the tonsil issues but problems with sore throat, sinuses and swollen lymph nodes continued. Docs were no too concerned about the size and location of the nodes.
I developed tonsil stones inside my tonsils in my early 30's, and had my tonsils removed after discovering that my tonsils were simply gorged with them. Several years passed with no problems regarding tonsil stones or bad breath. I am now in my late 30's and have discovered the same bad breath reminiscent of tonsil stones even though I no longer have my tonsils.
This is defined as the persistent or intermittent sensation of a lump or foreign body in the throat for at least 12 weeks. The most common causes would be gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), abnormalities of the upper esophageal sphincter (UES), psychologic and psychiatric disorders, and stress. I would suggest an evaluation with an upper endoscopy as a more comprehensive evalation for anatomic abnormalities. A 24-hr pH study can also be considered to definitively rule in or out GERD.
This may or may not be what you have, but hopefully it will help someone. I always felt like something was stuck in my throat or I had a lump in my throat, sometimes left side, sometimes right side. I had trouble swallowing, was afraid to eat at first for fear or choking. I was very terrified for months.
Of course my throat wasn't closing. Sometimes I felt a huge lump in my throat and that scared me...until I actually looked and noticed that it was my uvula touching the back of my tongue. The more you focus on this symptom the worse it gets. Try not to focus on it. I agree with nursegirl. Get the all clear from your doc and start focusing on your anxiety issues. Good luck and keep us posted. For what it's worth that particular symptom vanished for me once I realized that it was common.
I try coughing or drinking but the throat noise does not go away or even change it. I can tell it is not in my lungs, but in my throat. I can breathe shallow and minimize the noise but I feel out of breath then. My daughters say this wheeze is not my snore. They say I wheeze before the snore on intake and then exhale. I hear the noise during the day but I really have to listen to hear it as there is always too much back ground noise.
It began in 1976 and re occurs every 5 to 6 years. I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out.
I did get a cold sore with the cold I had. But... in my throat? Would it effect the same part of my throat? It never fully goes away and gets really bad from time to time. I've read about every forum on sore throats and have looked at oral herpes. I don't have any in my mouth. I did have a red patch at the back of my throat..no bumps though. How long would that last? I recently quit smoking. Developed a small canker sore to add insult to injury...no other sores.
It has helped take away the soreness mostly, but once a month or so I get swelling again, in the throat, lump in throat. I have seen the ENT in October also, and he wanted me to stay on the Nexium, as the redness wasn't entirely healed, and I was still experiencing some symptoms. Tomorrow is my next ENT appt. I will post back after it. In the last 4 weeks I have noticed my right throat gland swollen, consistently, and in the last 3 days my right tonsil tingling and swollen too.
kind of near my right tonsil somewhere in the right side of my mouth/near the throat. Looking in the mirror, I can barely see a white-ish look on my right tonsil. This has gone on for about a week or so with no improvements. Acidic things don't bother it, but rough foods do a bit. Also, I'm 19 years old/dont smoke/drink occasionally/don't use chewing tobacco. Is this something to be worried about cancer-wise? I read it developed painlessly if it is cancer...
Hi, can anyone help me with some advice on a lump in my neck. For the past 18months I've had a lump on my neck, just below my jawline about an inch from my ear. I have been to the doctors on 3 separate occasions to ask them what it can be and have been told it's "probably" my tonsil. Now, I understand that your tonsils swell when your ill but I've never been ill - no flu, coughs or colds.
I've been panicking lately as I'm trying to go to sleep because it seems like when I lay down I feel a lump in my throat and it's harder to swallow. I really don't think what u have is serious because it sounds just like what I'm going through. So glad I found someones story so that I know I'm not the only one. Gives me a little peace of mind. At least for a short while.
