My eyes are beginning to hurt and my ears as well. I have had a lot of chest congestion and mucous in the throat, and I have taken Benalyn and different cold medications but the little booger is still there. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
We are lucky if we are in the 20% of success otherwise, if it did not go away, the problem gets worse. Believe me it is hell to have that mucous accumulation in the back of the throat. I never had LPR symptoms before three months ago. Now I have slight heartburns and dry mouth. I believe it is getting worse. Good luck.
I too have suffered in the last 5 years from too much mucous in the throat. I am doing a good deal of research and I am now trying a holistic approach - Apple Cider Vinegar (must be unpasturized/raw/unfiltered/). The dosage is 2 tsp. before each meal or diluted with water and drank during the meal (you'd have to love vinegar to drink it during your meal - o-o-o-o-o no, not me). Anyway, I am giving it a try and will keep you all posted on how this works.
There is an artery in the area you are talking about and they have a pulse like in your wrist. It the lump a hard bump or a spongy lump that you feel your pulse when you press on it? It isn't on the bone it is above the bone right? if it is soft and spongy it may just be an artery. If it is solid and hard I would have the doc feel it.
I use a low pressure air pump, such as the one used in Rinoflow, to blow down thick mucous in the back of my throat in tosil area and then expell or cough up the thick mucous. I did several times yesterday and worked well for me. I thought everyone here had suffered from the same thing as I had and thought everyone wanted a quick relief. You can do this as often as you need. There is no side effect.
my throat feels strange again. Like a lump in my throat. Pulmonary specialist isn't worrid about it - as I don't have trouble breathing and it doesn't hurt to swallow. I'm also take Allegra-D in the evenings and have been taking that for years and years. Pulmonary guy says to continue taking it. My throat actually feels better when I wake up in the morning. But as time goes on in the day - it gets worse. Nothing painful - just annoying and unnatural.

I had my surgery two weeks ago, I also have a lump above my incision and when I swallow it feels like I have a lump in my throat. I emailed a picture of the lump to my surgeon and he didn't seem concerned. So ok the lump is normal post-op thing, but what about the wheezing/gurgling in my throat, what could that be?
I've been reading everyone's posts about getting thick, non-stop mucous in throat after eating. I have the same thing for over a month now! Now, I'm also starting to notice a stuffed nose too, then the mucous. I also wake up around 4:00 AM with crackling sounds in my lungs, which turns into coughing and throat clearing for hours. This creates so much anxiety! NO doctors will help!! They said GERD may be causing it, but I've been on Zegerid, 40 mg.
i recenltly had the horrible lump in throat sensation - i have a history or reflux but that was fixed 5 years ago with an operation and I'm pretty sure it's not started again. Two GPs thought it was anxiety (text book definition of globus hystericus) but i'm sure it wasn't - I had a sinus infection at the time and had lots of thick lumpy mucous in my throst - I found sucking on losenges losen this enough to get it out and this kept me on top of the problem which has gone after 2 weeks.
Turns out, after much distress, ENTs (inner ear infections, tinnitus, esophagitis, constant fluid in my ears, dizziness, migraines, tooth/facial pain, sinusitis, asthma like symptoms, gagging)---lump in my throat, began to have the burning behind my sternum (which felt more like pressure, not burning), absolutely no way to get rid of the mucus plugs I could "feel" in the back of my throat and up into my sinuses--- It's something called "Silent Reflux" or laryngopharyngeal
There is still a slight feeling of a lump in my throat but the mucous is gone after one or two coughs in a morning ( as opposed to almost all day ) and my sinuses are no longer so congested.
my problem is that I have a constant feel of flem in my throat, and need to clear it or cough all the time. I have been taking mucinex, it's not helping. I also take zyrtec for allergies. I don't feel a post nasal drip going on. what could this be?
Now and also then, it feels like I have a lump in my throat. I can actually feel the drainage and has to spit it out regardless of where I am. It is disgusting and I am trying everything, non-meds. My primary tried to prescribe me with meds that had all sorts of wild side affects. I use nasal spray that helps a little. I even tried allergy meds like Claritin-no good. My main lacking step is drinking at least eight glasses of water. I really wants to get rid of this problem.
Hi there, I need help with an opinion on whether or not I should get my throat checked out. A week ago I started feeling a little jello-like thing stuck in my throat and swallowing won't make it go away. It just feels like a lump of jello or mucous. When I drink hot tea, it goes away. But then just recently it has come back. I've only had this problem for the last week or so and I'm wondering if it is allergies or something greater.
When I came in to work, the tickle was finally gone, but I have progressively felt a lump in my throat - it doesn't hurt or feel scratchy and I don't have a fever but it feels like a plug of mucous and feels like my throat is closing but I'm not having trouble breathing. Any suggestions?
Can certain Antibiotics make the symptoms in the throat and the sweeling of gas in the stomach and the difficulity swallowing worse?
Hi everyone, Starting last march I had a horrible sore throat, lump in throat sensation and on drip. My doc thought it was a sinus infection and treated me with 2 rounds of antibiotics. Then sent me off to an ENT when nothing worked. He scoped me and thought I had acid reflux. At that time I had constant throat clearing, which they said was a hallmark sign of acid reflux. I was treated for that with omeprazole and it did not work.
At the worst times it feels like there is a lump in my throat and pressure in my chest and I also get really painful hiccups sometimes, just one or two at a time. Another Dr. said it was just stress and honestly I think he thought I was making it up because it wasnt happening while I was in his office which wasnt helpful! The one time I want the gurgles... If anyone knows of anythign that actually works I would love to hear it!
I have had sinus trouble for many years, but now I can feel a drip down the back of my throat constantly. Then I feel like I have a lump in my throat or voicebox, but I do not bring up any mucous. I also have a GERD issue for a long time, and have been on Nexium which has taken care of the GERD. I get a little bit of relief with Allegra prescribed by my doctor. I have no problem swallowing food or liquid, but concerned over this constant feeling of something there in the middle of my throat.
Since I've been dealing with this, every now and then after I brush my teeth I notice small traces of blood in my saliva. But only when I pull mucous from the back of my throat. It's not from bleeding gums. Today, I was brushing and noticed a bit more than usual. So I looked in the back of my throat with a flashlight and noticed that the one big lump that has been back there since this whole thing began was actually bleeding. That must have been where the blood had been coming from.
Hi, I just had a question to see if anyone has experienced this type of issue before. As of a few weeks now, I've noticed what I believe to be a lump feeling inside my throat maybe about 1/3 of the way down. It seems to be there then seems like it goes away. Seems like lately I'm always swallowing a lot or trying to clear what I think is just mucus from there. I did just get over being sick with a head cold and possible strep throat. The Dr.

I do know it caused me pain under my tongue and in my throat because saliva builds up and has no where to go. Eating was sometimes painful. I hope you get the answers you need soon!
It was supposed to be outpatient but my blood pressure was really low and I felt like I couldn't take a deep breath so they admitted me. My question, is it normal to cough up bloody mucous after thyroid surgery and for how long? It happened in the hospital and was told by the resident that it was due to the breathing tube. It is now 2 days later and I am still coughing it up. I coughed it up about 3 times yesterday and twice this morning so far. Thanks for any input.
Hey doc I'll try to make it short around 2-3 months ago I started to feel something stuck in the back of my throat. It would fade away when I ate, it felt like there was a little ball stuck back there everytime I would swallow my saliva, it would also get worse when I smoked. A few weeks later it resulted in a really sore thraot still accompanied with the feeling of a lump stuck back there.
during the time i was taking all these different meds, the lump in the throat feeling subsided and was replaced by a one sided sore throat that would jump from side to side every day. the sore throat went away after 3 weeks. now at times i have excessively thick mucous in my nose and mouth, its impossible to swallow and empossible to expel. i have this constant feeling of liquid being in my esophagus or my trachea. the constant need to cough, huff ( as my GF likes to call it), and hack.
I had a right-side-only throat discomfort in varying degrees for over a month that my ENT diagnosed as tonsiloliths a couple of weeks ago, but since then, the right-side only lump/pain sensation has become a lump in the middle of my throat and seems to be getting worse. In fact, the PAIN is no longer there, now it is only this globulous sensation, like a dead area in my throat.
