If the lump in the throat is caused by acid (very possible given what you describe), consider taking a course of antacids (I recommend Gaviscon for starters, Pepcid Complete if that doesn't work, and finally Prilosec OTC if that doesn't work after a few days each) to see whether this helps take the feeling away. If it does then you've essentially traced it down to it being acid. If it doesn't after 2 weeks, then you may wish to go see a doc just to be safe.

I starting having this ticking feeling in my chest and sometimes I would get a sensation of a lump in chest/throat. I find myslef coughing and clearing my throat a lot. I already saw a doctor but at the time my only symptom was shortness of breath and they checked my lungs witch was fine. I tried taking tums but didn't really help much. Does this sound like GERD?? Before I was diagnosed I was tested for a lump in throat feeling whenever I drank something. I got a barrium swallow and it was normal so i assumed it was an anxiety issue, Then after I got the pneumonia i saw something on the internet about aspiration pneumonia and it scared me because I still feel lump in throat and nausea at times. Could I have aspirated something into my lungs? I am being treated for pneumonia but I dont know what type. cant get a hold of dr because of holiday.

I have read your situation trying to find one that is close to mine. I had diverticulitis in Aug. 2010. It was really bad and I suffered until December of 2011 with it only to have surgery and they found that my ovary and tube had adhered during the flare up and had to also be removed. I am recovering from that, and because of all the uncertainty, I ended up on depression medicine for the first time in my life. I now have digestion problems.

The lump is solid and i can move it a little bit. My throat is not sore, doesnt hurt when i swallow, doesnt hurt if I touch around it, only if I touch the lump. Then it hurts very much. Also im noticing constant mucus in my lungs( i also had both lungs collapse last year so that may not be envolved with the lump)...i have tried to squeeze it thinking maybe it was a "boil"...nothing came out. I also have a reoccuring boil on my lower back which does burst if squeezed containing a blood/puss type substance..a rare reoccuring boil in my groin area aswell sinilair to the one on my back..comes and goes. A few months ago I was having alot of stress and kept feeling like there was a lump in my throat. Felt like there was something in my throat and wouldnt leave. Also felt tight as if i was being choked. about 7 weeks ago i went to the ENT for lymph node issues. He did a rhinoscope (stuck the camera up my nose) and told me i had large tonsils and adenoids. He did an ultrasound of my throat and neck as well. He also did blood. Everything came back normal. the sensation in my throat went away.

Regarding the sore throat do you have pus in the back of your throat, any fever now? They may listen to your lungs and if you have any pus in the throat take a throat culture or rapid strep test.

I have had hoarseness and a feeling of something stuck in my throat for 3 years, cough not associated with a cold, now the feeling of something stuck is a mass/lump in the lower center of my neck where the collar bones meet. Thyroid with uptake came back within normal limits, CT scan was "normal".
