Had the lump in throat feeling for over 3 years. Just had galbladder out on oct 29, 2012 and the bothersome lump is gone. I had no galstones or serious attacks, just thought it was indigestion. Apparently I have had this galbladder problem for over 10 years and didn't realize what it was. First indication was from an ultrasound and next test was a HIDA scan. The hida showed a 27percent ejection rate of bile from the galbladder.
Hello everyone. Has anyone experienced sudden onset of "lump in throat" symptoms? About 2 weeks ago I had a feeling of something stuck on the right side of my throat. Sometimes it is more noticable then other times but it has not gone away. I ahve been having a lot of belching along with this. I figure I must be swallowing a lot of air trying to get rid of the lump feeling. I have not had any heartburn. Should I make an appt. with a ENT or GI Dr.
The lump in the throat feeling is one of the symptoms of acid reflux though no lump is actually found in the throat. since you have difficult in swallowing, I would suggest that you undergo upper GI endoscopy to rule out any organic cause of difficulty in swallowing.
chronic belching after meals, horrible acid feeling in my throat, throbbing pains in the left side of my chest (felt almost like that feeling you get in your stomach when you're on a roller coaster, but just in my left side...the stomach side). I thought it was bad acid reflux so I took a bunch of over the counter things to remedy it: Pepto Bismol, Tums, Prilosec, etc. I started trying all kinds of different acid reducers, thinking one of them was the right one for me.
Sounds like you may have either acid reflux and/or post nasal drip. Try a sinus rinse and/or a decongestant first. Avoid milk products as they thicken the saliva. As we're on the subject of milk...it's quite possible that you are lactose intolerant...which will cause this to happen.
I dont have a sore throat though. It almost feels like an air bubble caught in my throat. During the time I have had these symptoms I have also been waking up with a sore, stiff neck. The soreness is pretty much located right at the base of the neck on the top of my back. I dont have a lot of heartburn mostly just belching and acid reflux. I have had a little bit of trouble talking too. I suffer from anxiety and depression and wanted to know if those could be causes of this weird sensation?
I started having a lump in my throat after about a week on Gastritis medicine (Zegrid). I did not think I had Gastritis but my EGD said I did. I have been having pains in my upper left and right side of abdomen but no gas, no bloating, go belching and no acid reflux but I took it anyway to see if it would help with the pains I was having but a week into taking it I started having a lump in my throat kind of feels like my throat is reeally tight.
Every once in a while I also would get mild chest pain and pain in my sternum. I also get this feeling that there is a lump in my throat but have tested negative for thyrhoids. My red and white blood cell has come back normal. Ultrasound if stomach is normal. X-rays of chest and stomach are normal. Ct scan came back normal also. Ive been to it could be due to acid reflex and heart burn but I don't get the burning sensations or the acid reflex coming up my throat. Anyone have a clue?
However now I've developed this problem. What could this be? I hear rumblings in my esophagus and throat. sometimes I feel like I have a lump in throat but then it goes away. This scares me.

Thank you Re: lump in throat / Globus Hystericus From pennythomas [Log on to view profile] on 2005-05-17 Hello Lovingkindness, I used Ignatia 30c, not 6c in the end.
I also told her that where I am constantly burping all of the time, it has made it feel like I have a lump in the back of my throat, she said that is caused by stress (I have been stressing over it BIGTIME and been crying almost every day cos it's so so uncomfortable and ruining my lifestyle), and she said the acid also causes it as it aggrevates my throat. Please can someone who has these symptoms talk to me! And tell me if all this constant belching is normal.
however i'm still not able to eat throat feels tight lump in throat burning ect...so went to an ENT where i was recently diagnosed with LPR? as of right now i'm surviving off of ensures water and maybe yogurt...Oh and nexium did nothing for me ....maybe i should try a diffrent PPI ? i'm taking zantac now seems to help some what, but still cant eat solids as of yet. My ENT suggested PROBIOTICS and DIGESTIVE ENZYMES instead of taking the PPI's cause its not as harmful to the body.
At the worst times it feels like there is a lump in my throat and pressure in my chest and I also get really painful hiccups sometimes, just one or two at a time. Another Dr. said it was just stress and honestly I think he thought I was making it up because it wasnt happening while I was in his office which wasnt helpful! The one time I want the gurgles... If anyone knows of anythign that actually works I would love to hear it!
** Long but please read ** Okay guys, this is my first post here but I think I fit in well. I'm hoping that someone can help. Starting early 1999, age 22, I began having stomach problems. Upset stomach, heartburn and that "lump in my throat" that would never seem to go away. After a couple months I went to my Dr. and it was diagnosed as a mild stomach ulcer with mild reflux (causing that "lump").
The symptoms “discomfort around upper stomach and I felt a lump. Also, notice belching, nausea and my stomach would swell” could be due to epigastric hernia, where a part of stomach or intestine herniates. It could in addition be due to acidity and gastric reflux. Possibility of a hiatal hernia too needs to be ruled out. I suggest you consult a gastroenterologist. Meanwhile eat light. Avoid tea, coffee, smoking, alcohol, spicy and oily food. Hope this helps.

I feel maybe slightly improved, but not cured. The bottom line is the clearing throat/lump in throat is still an issue. Now that I've review the situation, I'm hoping I can get some comments from users here. First, how much longer should I wait for it to be "cured"? What else should I ask my ENT? Also, has any one had this big throat clearing issue, and did it ever go away? The lump in my throat feeling is driving me nuts, let alone the weakened voice from clearing it constantly!
It is eerily like the feeling I had in my throat the evening of my heart attack in January - the only symptom I had then was the lump in my throat that wouldn't go away. I'm just wondering if any of you have experienced this before? Is this a symptom speaking out from my cervical lesions?
HI Please Please Please can somebody hep me as I am desperate. I have a constant feeling of 'lump in throat', throat feels swollen sometimes more to the one side, feels like something stuck in my throat,it never goes away and nothing seems to help. I have had a camera down my throat all is well except I was told my thryroid gland was slightly swollen had blood tests taken again thryroid levels are fine.
about 5 months ago i got an pretty sudden and bad sore throat along with mild weakness. that lasted for about 2 to 3 weeks. then for the next few months, i would occasionally get a mild sore throat, and just not feel 100% and weak. then the last month or 2 i have had alot of exccess gas and belching, which sometimes feels like it relieves the chest pressure a little but does not compleltly make it go away.
Symptoms in infants and children may include: Hoarseness "Barking" or chronic cough Reactive airway disease (asthma) Noisy breathing or pauses in breathing (apnea) Trouble feeding, spitting up, or inhaling food Trouble gaining weight With laryngopharyngeal reflux, adults may have heartburn or a bitter taste or burning sensation in the back of the throat. But they are less likely to have such classic signs of GERD.
This is defined as the persistent or intermittent sensation of a lump or foreign body in the throat for at least 12 weeks. The most common causes would be gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), abnormalities of the upper esophageal sphincter (UES), psychologic and psychiatric disorders, and stress. I would suggest an evaluation with an upper endoscopy as a more comprehensive evalation for anatomic abnormalities. A 24-hr pH study can also be considered to definitively rule in or out GERD.

This may or may not be what you have, but hopefully it will help someone. I always felt like something was stuck in my throat or I had a lump in my throat, sometimes left side, sometimes right side. I had trouble swallowing, was afraid to eat at first for fear or choking. I was very terrified for months.

Problem started about a year ago when over the period of a few months I had a couple of episodes of very painful gas and bloating. Pain and pressure was so bad that it was causing me to dry heave, but after about 5 or 6 hours it would start to escape.
Hi there, I can't stop burping either!! I've got this 'lump' feeling in my throat and I keep trying to burp it up! I get heartburn, and numbness in my throat and bad indigestion, especially after eating. I've had an endescopy, barium etc.. all fine. But I have been diagnosed with an overactive thyroid - which is enlarged. I'm hoping that this is the cause of my trouble - it's been a year now and I feel like I'm loosing the plot now! Having a thyroid scan next week, so I'll keep ya posted.
