Common Questions and Answers about Lump in neck puppy

lump

I fed her soft food, she ate 2 small bowls, she wont drink water, has not went to the bathroom, and when I stood her up to try to goto the bathroom, she was wobbly, and leans to the right side, which is where you can see and feel a lump on the very back of her head into her neck. Her head wobbled in circles for a few seconds, then she shook her head and fell over, so I put her back in her bed with the blankets and warmth...
I did take her to the vet and had x-rays taken along with blood work. It showed nothing wrong with her neck. the vet advised us to take her in for a MRI which is not cheap. She is taking vetprofen 25mg. for inflamation, and that helps a bit. I am so very worried about her. This has been going on for 2-3 weeks. she does eat and goes to the bathroom good though. I did notice lots of blood in her feces today. I take her to a specialist Monday and he will examine her thoroughly.
She has remained extremely active and does not show any signs of being in any pain. The first thing I did after seeing the lump on her neck was take her collar off of her. Her collar was on the very last whole available on her collar and was way to tight around her neck. I still have not figured out exactly how her collar had been tightened all I no is I was barely able to get it to move enough for me to get it off her without hurting her.
A lump on the neck of a five week old puppy could be anything from an insect bite to puppy strangles, and if it's puppy strangles, it can spread to the other puppies and they'll all need treatment. As soon as the vet's office opens in the morning, call and let them know you need to be seen ASAP that day and then take the puppy in for an examination and diagnosis. Please let us know what the vet says.
Not to long after that my parakeet passed,he was old and talked up a storm,I put him in a washcloth on my chest,he curled up by my neck, had 2 seizures and joined my Mom in heaven,I also lost one of my finches soon after that.I think of it as little pieces of me were joining my Mom in heaven, and that she must have been hurting too!It was way to many losses in such a short amount of time.My Pap also passed 1 month before my Mom's diagnosis.Loss is a part of life.
Thank you for the follow up as my 12 year old beagle has just developed 1 in the last 2 days. She just had a large lump removed from her neck in October. I love her death and would like to have her around to get into my garbage a few more years. I'm happy your pup is doing fine.
My 7 year old black lab has a lump on the back of his neck where he received an inoculation as a puppy. The lump developed within days and has never caused any problems. Well.... a few days ago I noticed it appeared to have bled. I thought I'd caught it with his Furminator so cleaned it up and it was 'fine'. Tonight I noticed his hair in that area looked clumped together and I can see where blood has come thru the hair follicle openings. I'm very concerned!
There is a huge lump, the size of a baseball on the back of my puppy's neck. The lump has doubled in size since yesterday and am wondering what this could be. It feels like there is liquid in it and everytime we touch the area, my puppy cries. What could this be? Can a stick a needle in it and try to pop it?
One of my puppies have a hard lump/bump on its neck also. Our puppy is 1 week old. Is this something serious? I will be taking them to the vet ASAP.
Sometimes several times a day, sometimes none at all. I also have been getting increasingly stiff in my lower back, neck and legs. And my feet are feel like boards they are so stiff and very painful. Also getting a bit moodier than normal and having some trouble concentrating. I hope that I don't alarm anyone here but after doing a lot of internet searching and then speaking with a nurse friend and a doctor - not a formal visit, just a private conversation - things may be pointing to MS.
Reglan (metoclopromadine) is a very cheap medication, unfortunately, it is also metabolized in the kidneys, so a too high dose results in toxic levels in the blood. My husband and I discovered that completely bypassing the GI tract by using reglan injections worked much better in the end. Chica didn't get the extra pyramidal side effects (extreme restlessness, shaking and trembling) from the reglan injections that she got from the oral meds.
I wake every morning with horrible pain in lower back (kidney area) that radiates to the front of stomach (rib area). I have had battery of tests and found nothing. I am only able to sleep 5-6 hours before pain wakes me, also unable to take a deep breath until I get out of bed (very painful just to roll over), once I stand and get out of bed the pain almost immediately starts to ease. After about 20 minutes of walking around and after first morning void, pain disappears for remainder of day.
It only took about 30 minutes of having the puppy in my car before I started getting the same symptoms. We thought the symptoms could be from other dogs, etc that were at the breeders so we decided to give the puppy a bath once we returned home. We bathed the puppy but the symptoms still existed. I thought it might take some time for the symptoms to subside so I waited. The symptoms got worse over the night and in the morning I was miserable.
Sorry others have the same stuff I do. I just turned 41 and have had these issues forever. They start out with a little burning and itching, grow into a red lump, and will not pop like a normal pimple. Of course after washing and messing with them, they always open into a sore and there they are... the white things The sores will not heal until all the white things are pulled out (usually with tweezers).
I don't have any symptoms yet, except for my period being early once in a while. I am 44 years old, and have gone, in 2 weeks, from having 44 year old skin to skin of a 60 year old. Could someone please help? I'm very distressed.
Also, he has had blood, at times, in both his pee and his poop. He also has a lump on his neck that has moved, but not really grown in size. However, for the last few weeks, he has been scratching at it and his jawline incessantly and now, seems to have a balance problem and will fall over while he's trying to scratch. He's always been an incredibly skinny cat, but he is still eating and seeking affection.
He continued to do well for another 6 1/2 months then the swelling in his neck got very large and I could see he was uncomfortable. One morning, when he did not want to go for a walk, I knew it was time and, like the others, I held him when he was PTS. It is never easy but nobody knows your dog better than you. For me, personally, it gets down to a quality of life issue. I wish you the best during this difficult time.
Removing it, (and a few weeks later other breast tissue that seemed suspect) proved to be a complete cure (for that particular ailment anyway) The vet told me it's impossible in most cases to tell if a lump is cancer or not by simply examining it. He also told me that the majority of dog lumps are in fact NOT cancer. Statistically, the cance of malignancy is lower than we think. Dogs are very prone to lumps and bumps, and there are so many things they can be.
hows your new place, do your kids and puppy love it and you , i know you must feel better being in a better place than you was . try and think how blessed you are and not on your body, when you do your body makes you think there is something wrong with it and it can get bloted .ive seen woman want to be pregant so bad it threw there body in to missing perieds and growing like it was dr said it was a false pg from there body just doing it . i seen dogs do that to so relax . go dr it be ok.
But it kept happening and I'd taken him to several vets who would say he's still in his puppy stage give him a few anti-vomit pills but I never felt I could explain it right for them to understand. The beginning of 2010 he had blood work done and the vet said it showed he was allergic to something so I changed his food to a limited ingredient Duck and Potato by Royal Canin and he seemed fine for about 2 months.
I tell everyone I leave the worrying to the doctors that is what I pay them for. I had a lump in my breast recently and remained calm it was a normal lymph node. Then I had some vaginal bleeding it was nothing as well. All we have control over is how we look at things. Doctors can see more with all the technology but a lot of it turns out to be benign or something treatable.
The feeling that my foot is 'asleep' as you say accompanies pain and swelling in that area. I found the lump in the center of my instep and used the same pressure/heat/message technique on it as well. In the last year or so it flares up from time to time and I just apply this technique, even just the heat when I'm resting and not messaging it, and after a few days or whatever it calms down.
Back in about last... Wow can't remember... like August or September I had my first guy on guy experience. All that happened was he gave me unprotected oral. He left, everything was cool. A few months later, I got (what I think) to be hemroids. I started having bleeding with them (which is why I think they're hemroids), but after finally changing my diet, and not sitting on my butt for hours on end, the bleeding stopped. I finally got preparation h, and for the most part they are gone.
[1][2] The name derives from the fact that, in the sagittal view, the SMA and AA (with some imagination) appear to be a nutcracker crushing a nut (the renal vein). I was originally Diagnosed with Pelvic Congestion after complaining for many years of Chronic pelvic pain, left sided flank pain, lower back, and lower limbs. My husband and I were also trying to conceive for 6 years and all the doctors could tell me was that I had a great looking uterus.
I noticed the large lump in her neck, and mentioned it to doctors. They told me it was 'puppy fat' She is a lot smaller than most children, and was teased and bullied mercilessly for the 'egg in her throat' by other children, yet the doctors would never believe it. Finally one day I noticed as she swallowed a drink, the lump didn't move. I knew then it was not podgy puberty fat, but something not right. I took her immediately to the doctor and said, (not in her earshot of course!
Today is Monday, at work wishing I was home in bed. Saturday took a hard spill on the bike down the river bank hitting rocks along the way and flayed the skin off my arm. Now worrying about an infection, I have the arm wrapped up mostly, but it hurts so much, my left leg, ribs etc are crying. Not to mention the daily abdomen, back and shoulder pain throbbing through.
It began in 1976 and re occurs every 5 to 6 years. I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out.

Three vet visits later she was diagnosed with Masticatory Muscle Myositis. Also called MMM, it is an auto-immune disease that effects the muscles in her face and neck that help her chew and open her mouth(The mastication muscles). It can make it hard for her to open her mouth and the muscles in her face have shrunk so parts of her face look sunken-in. The treatment is Prednisone which I have taken because I have 4 auto-immune diseases but apparently it works differently in dogs.
