Fast forward a year and I am still not the same person. The lump in my ear/neck area is constantly tender and painful. The majority of the time I have an earache. This has been causing me discomfort and pain now for a year! I feel dismissed by the doctor I saw and cannot afford to keep going back without results. I need a direction or suggestions as to what to do next. I am losing sleep over this and feel an urgency to press on. I am a female, age 42, 5;3", 135 lbs.Thank you.
hi, i have a lump in the neck 2 cm in diameter under my left area near the jaw. From image in the internet found here : http://training.seer.cancer.gov/ss_module08_lymph_leuk/images/illu_lymph_chain02.jpg the lump seems to be located in the Jugulodigastric Deep Cervical Lymph Nodes. I detected it 5 years ago and went to 3 general doctor and an ENT specialist. all of them said it is ok. The ent specialist use ultrasound to check the lymph node and he said not to worry.

It started during a shingles episode, although I did not have a shingles outbreak in this part of my body. However, it started as neck fullness in that area which developed into a lump along my jaw line area that has persistently gotten larger over the past 3 months. No pain, no drainage, essentially asymptomatic.Does not seem to be infected. It is soft. Doctor put me on doxycycline without any relief. Any ideas on what this is??
I have a medium size lump on the right side of my neck about 1.5inches in diameter. It is just below the jaw line near the back of the jaw. It is not painful at all and it is slighty visually noticeable. It looks as if my neck is swollen. I have had this lump for nearly two months. When i touch it it feels like some sort of tissue build-up. It is below the skin and the only visible part is the "swelling".

It is slightly visible and protrudes maybe a tenth of an inch from neck. it has grown very slightly in the seven years. The lump is hard and mobile under skin. it feels like its attached to the skin underneath. the skin over it is normal colored. it is located directly in the middle front of neck just beneath my adams apple.
When I was pregnant with my son in 2007 I noticed a lump on the side of my neck (its right under my jaw line and isn't noticable by sight). I asked my OB about it and she said it was perfecty normal during pregnancy and didn't even check it out. Well I still have the lump and my son is now 19 months old. It doesn't seem to be getting bigger and isn't painful.
I have a small lump on my neck, it is on the right side about halfway up. It is quite small, probably not much bigger than a pea and it feels like it is located on the neck muscle (of course I suppose it could be behind it and pushing the muscle, I am not qualified to say but I don’t think so). I have played sport before and it feels to me exactly like the kind of scar tissue you can get after a pulled muscle.

Hello, I discovered a lump in my neck above the thyroid about 5 weeks ago. Thinking it would go away I waited til two weeks ago to tell my doctor about it. She ordered a CT Scan with contrast. I was hesitant to put any more chemicals in my body so did not want to get the contrast. As always, Hector was very helpful; he assured me it would be ok. I had the scan done yesterday and should be getting results this week.

have they checked you for silaidenitis. this could cause the lump by the jaw bone and neck and cause severe pain. The salivary gland gets blocked by a stone and secretions cannot release. Try seeing an ENT to check this out just a thought hope it helps you. Nose bleeds can be caused by a weak blood vessel in the nose or by dry air people experience those more in the colder months due to using dry heat. Your pain from the jaw/neck area can be radiating pain from the salivary gland.
Since you are already seeing a reduction in the size of the lump, trama may be the cause. If the neck lump is close to your dogs jaw or chin, it could be a salivary mucocele and having your vet send a sample to the lab for a cytology report will help to determined this. The exudate may appear to be just blood but the cytology will reveal specifics including exact cell type(s), specific gravity and much more information helpful to diagnose this.
Thank you for your time. I have a mass in the left side of my neck that lies just below the jawline, in front of the ear. I see an ENT regularly, so when I was in to see him I pointed out the mass, and he said it was not normal. He did an FNA, and that yielded very little. It said the aspirate showed no malignant cells. It is a cyst or benign tumour. He did say that the aspirate doesn't get everything, so malignancy is slight.
My 6 year Shipoo has a lump on the side of his neck just below the jaw line, that is about 2 inches long. I noticed it last week and at first I thought it was going down but now its larger. I have made an appointment with the vet, but was wondering what it might be.
I've seen THREE endocrinologists (going on 4), an Immunologist, ENT (who pointed towards the thyroid more than once), Allergist, a dentist specializing in TMJ and even a chiropractor which felt like it was irritating my neck with adjustments. It started with a choking feeling in my neck. I came home from work ripping off my turtle neck and having dry choking heaves. After that I couldn't wear anything around my neck including necklaces, turtlenecks, or my hair touching it.

Pain and burning on right side of tongue, pain in top and bottom teeth, jaw and ear, painless swelling of lymph tissue near right jaw and very frequent headaches that feel like they're going right through my eyeball. When I read that you felt OK in the morning but progressively worse as the day wore on, I almost fell out of my chair because this is the first time I've encountered someone who's experiencing that same phenomena.
The doctor examined it and found that I had to flex my neck muscles, the same action you do to push your lower jaw away from your face, in order to feel it at all (make it palpable). Pushing on the area when the muscles are un-flexed reveals almost nothing, it feels like it is not there; when flexed, you can feel it easily and note that it does not move.

Hello Everyone, I am a 50 year old male, and new to this forum. About 6 to 8 weeks ago I noticed that the Lymph nodes in my neck, the ones under my jaw were enlarged. They weren't sore so I wasn't to concerned. Then I began reading information on the Internet, and got a little scared. Well the next day I was in my doctor's office to get it checked out. He put me on antibiotics, and ordered blood work.
I woke up with a tender spot on the right side of my neck, just under my ear, under the jaw bone. I can feel a little something in there, not sure where to start for medical help. I had my wisdom teeth extracted again 2 years ago. (2nd time for me, I was one of those lucky ones who got extras) There were major complications with my surgery, no anti-biotics were given and i ended up with a really bad infection.
I have a disorder called Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. I googled pain in my lower ear/neck jaw, and found this link. I am wondering how many POTS symptoms could be linked to the pain and swelling under my jaw/ears. POTS causes dizziness, swollen glands...among other things... One thought is to research POTS and eliminate it as a possible cause of your illness. Another thought... Who is smoking, eating dairy, living in a high humidity clime?
