lump

I have a 9 year old and he has a little lump in the right side of his neck. The lump is the size of a marble. there is no pain or anything but its been there for awhile. what would it be and what should I do?
At the dentist about a year ago I had him feel it and he said it was nothing to worry about and it should go away (he showed me that he had some also that had been in his throat for awhile). But it has been about a year and the lump to the best of my knowledge hasn't gotten any bigger or smaller, neither does it feel like it has shifted positions. I have to admit I am very worried about it.
I have been taking topamax for migraines for about a year now and have just found a soft bump, about an inch in size, to the right of my thyroid. Do you think that would be a thyroid condition? I do have an anxiety problem as well and I am afraid to have it looked at.
I am a 24 year old female who is normally a very heatlhy person. About a week before my period I start getting cold and flu like symptoms. I ignored them thinking that I just have severe PMS symptoms. About six months ago I noticed a lump on the right side of my neck. The doctors have checked me for diabetes, mono, thyroid, lupus, and many other things. I have also had a CT on the neck and an upper GI.
Hi Cariadlawn, I'm a 22 year old female and I have the same painless lump in the same spot as you. I've had it for a little over a year. I read a lot of stuff on the internet about lymphoma and it scared me too. I said to myself that when I see a Dr. he or she better not give me antibiotics and dismiss it because I read how that happened to so many people and it didn't work and I knew it wasn't from an infection because I had it for so long.
I'm a 16 year old female. I have what feels to be a 3 in. lump under the muscle of the right side of my neck that's been present for 2 years. It's in the middle of the side of my neck and slowly growing to the front of my neck. Doctors did an ultrasound plus blood work and saw nothing abnormal and said it's just me growing. There's no pain but it's uncomfortable and causes pressure on the inside my neck. Do you think it is from growing or something else?
Then January 2010 I had pain in my abdomen so severe that eating was nearly impossible, again I went to see my doctor and appendicitis was suspected so I had an appendectomy, but it ended up not being appendicitis, however the surgeon informed me that there was a pool of blood in my abdomen (I was never given a cause for this).
It would be advisable for you to consult a physician to check out the lump in your neck. Unless a diagnostic test/procedure has been done, such as a biopsy, it would be difficult to determine if the lump is benign or malignant. Weakness may be due to low iron and cobalamin but there is always a possibility that it may be related to the lump. This, aside from a family history of cancer, should be enough to warrant further investigation of the mass. Good luck.
My Dad is a healthy 68 year old with no chronic diseases. He has had a lump in his lower front neck, about an inch left of center for about 2 months. The lump seems almost cyst like, it is bigger than a marble, maybe twice the size of a marble. He can move it around without too much effort, its pliable, its not fixed per se, but it doesn't appear dermatological, meaning there is no redness on the skin or anything. It doesn't hurt at all, is pliable, movable.
She threw her head back and laughed. Just then I caught a glimpse of a lump at the top of her neck, not far down from the jaw. I got on the internet right away to see what I could find. A majority of sites said it was probably from a recent viral infection, which she had just gotten over. I decided to rest her and give it a week and try not to panic about it. It worked and the lump went almost entirely away. That is until today. It's back. She's not had a recent viral infection.
Hello, I'm a nineteen year old male living in Australia. For about two weeks, I have discovered a lump just bellow my hairline (at the base of my skull) at the back of my head. The lump is about the size of a wall-nut. It is not painful, and very hard. It is under the skin, unlike a pimple. I went to the doctors, and he seems told me it was nothing to worry about, and that it was most likely a swollon gland. However I have never had a swollon gland in that location, and its not painful.
Hi, I am a helathy 29 year old female, working out, never smoked, drink couple glasses of wine weekly. 18 days ago, I found a lump 2cm big, on my left neck. I went to see a doctor, he put me on Amoxycilin 850 mg for 10 day. No change. I went to see ENT doctor 5 days ago, he did CBC- normal, mono spot - neg.He said to wait 3 weeks and come back to see him. I admit the forst 14 days, I was touching the lump every 20 min. trying to see whats going on with it. I did not touch it now for 2 days.
Hi. I am a 25 year old healthy female. Two months ago I noticed a lump on the right side of my neck. It seems bigger than the other lymph nodes in my neck. I have been to three doctors, one was my GP and the other two were ENT specialists. All of them have said they "think" that it is a normal size lymph node, but I cannot seem to be convinced.
Hi i have a hard lump under my skin on the back of my neck almost where my head and neck meet. Its hard and about the size of a marble. can some one help me. it hads been here a while but seems to have gotten a little bigger. i do not smoke.
I had booked a gp appt to figure out what to do next and she is sending me to a surgeon for follow-up. I'm wondering if anyone has any idea of what they will do. Apparently the cysts are fluid filled but something must have opened or popped for it to go down so much. Anyone else have this experience?
Hi, this morning I discovered a lump in my daughters neck, just below the jaw line directly under the ear. She has had a double ear infection and has been on 2 lots of antibiotics this month. She is now fine. I felt round the lump, it is the size of a pea and I assume it is a swollen lymph gland, would like some reassurance and what to look for. Thank you.
Enlarged (but a lot smaller than the lump below my clavicle) Hard Painless Moves when I touch it (the lump below my clavicle doesn't) I'm not sick or anything. No fever, chills, night sweats, loss of appetite etc. I just get headaches, but I have had migraines since I was little so it's normal to me. So I'm not sure if I should be more or less worried! I really just want to find out what this is! CT scan should show it since they are doing my left clavicle and neck.
125 lbs Alright, well there is a lump like thing on my left side of my neck. It has been there for at least a year and a half (maybe longer). There is like two parts of it, but its sort of like a cyst. They are located in the same area so I'm pretty sure it's definitely related. Its not connected to my skin, but is connected (as far as I can tell) to my neck. It's not a hard lump, I want to say it is a little squishy but not too squishy. Not large lumps by the way, but not real small.
I sat out and now about 2 days later I still have the pain, and added fagitude, headache, and a hard lump on the left side about an inch below the hairline about the size of a golf ball. Also, I ache in the neck, shoulders, abdomen, and knees.
I noticed last I have a lump on the right side of my neck. I discovered it in the middle of the night, though it was not bothering me thoughout the day that I noticed. It is as I said on the right side (my right) about an inch above half way down. It is around 3/4-1" in size and I can move it around independently. My husbands insurance doesn't start for a few weeks is this something I should be concerned about?
I'm a 38 yr. old who is currently undergoing treatment for two neck issues and I don't know if they could be related. I have had a thyroid nodule for 7 yrs. now. After the initial check of the lump I was told to come back in 6 months. Well, 7 yrs. later I decided to see a Dr. to get it re-checked because I really don't feel good. After an MRI,US & FNA (showed atypical very hypocellular) I am currently awaiting my appt. for a surgeon to biopsy the nodule.
My eight year old daughter has a lump on her neck. It became enlarged about two months ago after strep throat. At first, doctors said that it was an enlarge lymph node due to the infection. Well it seemed to subside a bit in size with antibiotics prescribed. A month later it returned, a CT scan revealed it to be an abscess. ENT specialist recomended to have it surgically drained. After weeks of the lump still being there, my anxiety grew not knowing what this could be.
I just recently found a small lump on my 2.5 year old daughter's neck and after researching it seems to be in the area of the posterior cervical nodes. It doesn't seem to be painful to her, it moves around under the skin and although is firm does have a little give to it. It isn't warm to the touch nor is the skin red and it isn't noticeable unless you feel for it or she bends her neck.
A couple of months ago my dog had the exact same lump in the same place and we also thought it may be a reaction to the chip. The vet initially put her on antibiotics which knocked out the infection and all was good for almost three months and then the lump reappeared. The vet decided to operate and removed a fibrous mass, she went back on antibiotics for 30 days and 7 days after the final antibiotic dose the lump reappeared. Upon consultation from another vet a dermoid sinus was mentioned.
About 5 days ago I noticed a small bean shaped lump on the side of my neck (not between the jagular and sternocelidomastoid muslce), but rather on the sternocleidomastoid muscle itself (I think). I consider myself a bit of a hypochondriac so naturally internet search will reveal the worst. All it takes is 1 negative to throw me off balance completely. I went to my GP and he said I might have lymphedema and sent me off to do a ultrasound of the neck followed by FNA.
im female 17 years old and i have found this lump in the back of my neck just under my hair line on the left side near my spine ive had this for atleast a year and havent gone to the doctors as im scared of what they might say, i think it may have got a tiny bit bigger since a year ago and last night it started to hurt a little when touched but its never hurt before and im now worried that it could be something serious what do you think it might be?
Im a 23 year old male and about 2 years ago now I was just randomly feeling my neck and noticed a small lump on the right side of my neck (about 3 inches directly below my ear) it is about 2cm across in size and quite flat. When I touch the edge of it it feels quite spongy and I guess a little slippery when I touch the edges as it moves around a little. It does not hurt to touch.
I have a lump on the left side of my neck, just above the shoulder. It's tender to the touch, and is about the size of half a golf ball. I assume it's just a cyst or something, but what's worrying me is that for the last year I've have had chronic, yet weak kidney, lung, testicle and abdominal pain. It doesn't really help that I'm overweight, but yeah, just letting you know. I've had an increase in small moles on my neck, including one where the lump is located.
Hello, I am a 31 year old female. I have had a small pea sized lump on the back left side of my neck for at least 2-3 years now. I never noticed it before but it could have been there. It has not changed in size. It is not rock hard and I can move it around a little. It does not hurt to push on it. I tend to get lots of knots in my neck. I was hit from behind in a car accident about 4 years ago and ever since I get lots of knots in my neck.
