I have nodules in the goiters on my thyroid. I feel a pressure at the base of my neck and feel like I have a slight lump in my throat. I have hypothyroidism but only require 25mcg of Levothroid. My dad died of c-cell derived medullary carcinoma. Should I have a biopsy?
My Thyroid levels have been perfect. I noticed a lump in my throat about ten months ago now. I never said anything in fear that it was always there and I would seem crazy. A Doc finally found it and recommended I get an ultra sound done, which was last month. The U/s showed that it was 3.67 CM on the right side and it was a hard nodule. There were two others, but they just want a biopsy of the big one. I go for that on Tuesday.
Hi he should get it checked out. i noticed a small lump in neck 2 years ago in april during pregnancy. No testing were done either than a thyroid test which was neg. it went away during the end of pregnancy and a year later it came back. ultrasound showed enlarged node, ct scan showed 3.4 cm enalrged 3 tiny ones around thyroid and one big one behind chest wall 10.cm prognosis: hodgkins or malignant lymphoma. Biopsy will be performed on June 10th to rule out mailgnancy.
In 2002, I noticed a lump in the side of my neck about the size of a small pea. The doctor in the state where I lived at the time said we would monitor it and if it grew, perform a biopsy. I moved to another state and after a while, it did begin to grow. I went to my new doctor and he ordered i believe a CT scan. He said that most likely it was scar tissue around a lymph node. Since then, it has grown to about the size of a walnut and he doesn't seem concerned.
Congratulations on being a 3 time BC Survivor!! Although a biopsy on the neck has an "ick factor" to it, it's no different than a biopsy anywhere else. I know when I had my reconstruction surgery I had my IV in my jugular and also had my port inserted into my jugular for my chemo treatments as all my veins had shut down. I'm crossing fingers and toes that this will be a "NOTHING" find and that you are done with cancer! Best wishes and please let us know how you're doing.
When I brought her to the vet they told me she had an ear infection and she was feeling the pain in her paw. She has been on an antibiotic and seems to be doing better, however the lump in her neck is getting bigger and bigger. I am trying to make her an appointment but they don't have any openings until December 4th. Does anyone know what this lump could be? I have tried to look it up online but have had no luck. PLEASE HELP.
I have had a painless lump in my neck for several years. It is on the left side in the same area where my lymph nodes typically swell up when I have a cold. It is behind the upper part of my jaw, below my ear. It is hard, painless (unless I press it rather hard), immovable and about an inch in size. I have had two doctors who have been aware of it, but dismissed it. The first one put me on antibiotics to make it go down, but they did not do anything.
I have recently come across a small lump in the right side of my neck located just past the halfway point of my neck and slightly towards the back (behind my ear as opposed to in front of it). The lump is not painful, hard, and I can move it slightly up and down, and it's not round more of and oval shape. I don't smoke or drink, I am however tired all the time.
I am awaiting results. I have been in a severe car accident over 13 years ago and have had 5 neck surgeries and live day to day with pain. I have a high pain threshold. The fact that my breast and under my arm rose above my daily pain levels is troubling to me. Also, having done a little research into the bone scan. I was sent for a breast scan but was called back for a total body scan.
Hi - I've had a very small lump in the back of my neck for a few months now, since about July I think. It's about two inches from the base of the ear towards the middle of the neck and about 1/2 to 1 inch down from the hairline. Does anyone know which nodes those are - I've seen conflicting info from websites. And, how likely is it to be something serious? I don't think it's gotten much bigger than from I first discovered it, but the area seems more irritated now.
Two months ago I noticed a lump on the right side of my neck. It seems bigger than the other lymph nodes in my neck. I have been to three doctors, one was my GP and the other two were ENT specialists. All of them have said they "think" that it is a normal size lymph node, but I cannot seem to be convinced. It doesn't hurt when I touch it, but of course, that makes me worried because non tender lumps in neck are more likely to be cancerous than tender nodes.
hi I have a lump on my neck and a low absolute Lymphocytes count my dr sent me for a cat scan today can u explain to me why she sent me for a cat scan and not a biopsy?
I have just notice a large lump on the side of my dogs neck just on the collar bone, it is the size of an egg but inside the skin, should I be more very worried or could this just be a gland.
Only a biopsy will be able to tell the exact nature of the lump. In biopsy, a small sample of the tissue is taken and examined under a microscope. Please do not delay it further. I hope that helped. Please do keep me posted. Kind Regards.
I think they will do a biopsy if required for the lump in your neck and please follow whatever the clinician advises. Take care!
Enlarged (but a lot smaller than the lump below my clavicle) Hard Painless Moves when I touch it (the lump below my clavicle doesn't) I'm not sick or anything. No fever, chills, night sweats, loss of appetite etc. I just get headaches, but I have had migraines since I was little so it's normal to me. So I'm not sure if I should be more or less worried! I really just want to find out what this is! CT scan should show it since they are doing my left clavicle and neck.
About 5 days ago I noticed a small bean shaped lump on the side of my neck (not between the jagular and sternocelidomastoid muslce), but rather on the sternocleidomastoid muscle itself (I think). I consider myself a bit of a hypochondriac so naturally internet search will reveal the worst. All it takes is 1 negative to throw me off balance completely. I went to my GP and he said I might have lymphedema and sent me off to do a ultrasound of the neck followed by FNA.
My 2 yr old son has a large lump on his neck he has had it for a little over a month. The doctor says it is a swollen lymph node.they did blood work it all came back good.he was not been sick or any other signs.and it started out really hard.it was gottin a lot softer now.about two weeks ago it started to get red. so today i took him to the er the opened it and said it was a staph infection.they said it had a lot of pus in it.he has not had any cuts or and other injurys.
The lump in neck is exactly same! Rt side, just to the back but not too low. My mum died of cancer so I know your worry! Iv had fatigue, headaches, mood swings, severe lethargic feeling, and neck / shoulder pain! What was your outcome? I hope all is well.

Hi, I have had a grape size lump in my neck for a number of years now. Its on the top right hand side of the neck, under the corner of jaw bone, right in the corner of the neck. I always thought it was a swollen gland and didnt think anything of it until i googled it and now anxiety has set in. It cant be seen but can be easily felt just by lightly touching the skin.
I have had a large lump in my neck for at least 5 years now. The lump is not noticeable. The lump is located at the base of the skull, under my hair line, between the left side of spine and the left trapezius muscle (I believe it's the correct muscle). The lump can not be felt if head is facing forward and level. The lump can be felt if head is lowered, with chin to chest. In this position, the lump is nearly the size of a ping pong ball cut in half; but it is more oblong than round.
