lump

A lump that comes and goes is almost certainly not cancer. It's not rare to have recurring infections in sweat glands under the arm, It might need surgical drainage to make it go away permanently. Also, using deodorants that don't have antiperspirants, which plug up the glands, can be useful. But to have it accurately diagnosed, it'll need to be looked again by your doctor.Best wishes..
I woke up this morning and my armpit was swollen and i have a lump there. This has happened before and i always goes away. It is sore. I am really scared and i am unsure of what to do. I work a demanding job as a police officer and it is impossible to get into a dr for a few days. It hurts into the right side of my neck. That is the same arm that is swollen.
I sometimes get a lump in my armpit, but it goes away after a few days and then it could be months until I have another one.It is in the upper part of my armpit and sometimes the area will even be red around the area. I do feel some soreness around the area sometimes, but not all the time. I've read that sometimes a lump in the armpit can have something to do with breast cancer. I was never too concerned about it until a friend of mine found a lump in her breast and I read up on breast cancer.
Don't lymph nodes swell because of infection like the glands at the back of your throat when you get sick. But that goes away. This never goes away, is always there and has been for a long time. my ultrasound is this coming thursday. When I called to make the appt. the girl said she was going to book me for a mammo after the ultra sound just incase they feel they need to do one. Any advice would be great.
I have a lump in my armpit. I've had it before and it comes and goes. the first time i had it the Dr said it was probably due to stress and my immune system or that my sugar level was too high. It comes and goes and is sometimes painful but not always. I have just had a kidney infection and I was wondering if this could be the route of the problem. I've been run down for a while and this may also be the cause. i just need reassurance.
Hi Welcome to the MedHelp forum! A lump in armpit can be a swollen lymphnode, in response to fungal infection or sweat dermatitis or infection of hair follicles. It can also be folliculitis or a hair follicle infection. It can also be an enlarged lymphnode due to malignancy of breast (rare in males but not impossible). At times it is a cyst too. Consult your PCP for an evaluation. A CT scan can be confirmatory or a fine needle biopsy. Hope this helps.
It does hurt when I touch it and for a little while afterwards, but then pain goes away, at times it can be alittle itchy. I've looked in a minor and don't see really anything out of the ordinary, such as a sore. I know that it can be many thing, cyst, in grown hair, even a sign of breast cancer. I've never had an in grown hair so I'm not sure if there would be obvious signs of that.
A few years ago I took him to the doctors and they said there was nothing wrong that it was a swallon lymph node.. they said that it will go away, well it didn't I kinda didn't think anything of it until the other day when he took a shower he came out and lifted his arm to scratch his back. I saw the lump and he said it has always been there and that it doe's not hurt at all. I make an appointment but wont be seen until next week. Any idea's what it could be?
One is that this could be an infected armpit gland that presents with a lump. This can resolve spontaneously but more often would require antibiotic treatment. Another is that related to breast tissue (as there is an axillary extension of the breast tissues). the most common pathology that can explain this is that of benign breast changes such as fibrocystic disease which would usually respond with the hormonal changes in the body.
As I was taking a shower yesterday I noticed that I had a small lump in my left armpit. At first I thought I had a pimple or and infection but it didnt have a white tip and the lump seems to be under my skin. Should i immediately make an appointment to see a doctor? It's beginning to hurt. I was doing some research and it seems to be obe of the earliest symptoms of breast cancer. Is it possible to have cancer at age 23?

ITS ONLY ONE SIDE, RIGHT SIDE, under my armpit. WHEN I DONT USE ANYTHING IT goES away FOR A SHORT TIME, theN IN A DIFFERENT SPOT 2 OR 3 MORE POP BACK UP. ITS ON goING FOR 1 MONTH AND IT CAN HURT REALLY BAD DEPENDING ON the AREA AFFECTED, DUE TO PRESSURE. COMPRESSING HAS NO EFFECT AND POPPING theM IS OUT OF the QUESTION, WHAT ELSE CAN I DUE TO PREVENT FUTURE BREAK OUTS IF NOT USING ANTI PERSPRANTS IS NOT WORKING?
I HAVE HAD THIS FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. IT SEEMS THAT the PAIN COMES AND goES. I ALSO HAVE SOME PAIN IN the LEFT BREAST BUT NO lumpS. IT HURTS TO LAY ON my STOMACH OR TO HOLD my SON CLOSE TO THAT SIDE. I DONT KNOW IF THIS NORMAL OR SOMETHING WRONG.
I get soreness just in the left armpit that comes and goes during my period. I had an ultra sound on the area and it was a lymph node and all was normal. I suggest asking if you can have an ultra sound. It's easy to have done and will give you peace of mind.

I have a lump in my armpit that I think has been there for a while. I know for sure I saw it a month ago, but went through 2 surgeries (unrelated?) and that was my last concern - I thought it was a muscle. It has never been painful, red, 'angry' or anything else. I think it's gotten a little bigger, but if it has, it hasn't grown much at all. Last week I went to my doctor and showed it to her.
Dear JanRose, Without physical examination, ability ask questions etc. it is difficult to advise you as to what this pain could be. It is best to discuss with your doctor, who can evaluate.

And can you feel a lump in armpit and not feel anything in the breast? How big is a lymph node and what does it feel like under your arm? Thank you for any information you can give.
Heyy, for like 5 months now i've had a lump in my right armpit and i can only notice it around a week before my period and then after my period is over it goes away. It doesnt really hurt or is painful but it is tender. I was wondering if it was anything i should worry about because i read somewheres that it could mean i have breast cancer. Thanks!
I have a lump under my armpit it comes and goes and it is always sore but this time it's REALLY painful my bra rubs against it and makes it hurt more. It hurts when I touch it too. And it's gotten red. I did put a cooling pack on it and it took some of the pain out of it. my underarm hurts when I move my arm or raise it and I can't lay on that side it hurts pretty bad. I also get fiber cysts on my breasts every once in a while....could it be a Cyst? Please answer. I worried.
Hello, i am 45 year old female, otherwise in good health, 2 months ago i noticed a lump in my armpit about 1 inch in diameter, no pain just rather large, it cannot be seen by lifting my arm ( area is not raised ) , it seems to be very deep. no redness either and wasn't, (or the area around it) , tender at all.
) Take care :)
answer on this list you need to post a new question. Sometimes it's tough to get in but keep trying especially early in the day. That being said, this does sound like something worth checking into further, if for no other reason than your peace of mind. A physical exam would be needed to give you any real idea of what's going on.
After 4 breastfed children, I now have extra skin in that armpit were it was stretched for so long. Best of luck.
got blood drawn and he said to come back in two weeks after thanksgiving. When I returned he examed the lymphnoid in the armpit and said it felt more defined and larger, I thought it felt a bit smaller and had noticed less pain.He went over blood test results and said I was neg for mono and my white blood was alittle elevated (possibly due to small area on hand or cold poss?
I am female and 25. A month ago I felt a painful bump in my armpit. I have moderate acne and often get razor bump acne in my armpit so I did not think much of the bump at first. Since then I have had 5 more and it seems like the bump is moving! Maybe I am just paranoid and it is different ones coming up, but it really seems like as soon as one goes down another one is there 3mm away. Always the same pea sized bump just traveling in my armpit.
It last for about a few seconds or so and it goes away. the pain comes and goes and if I apply pressure to it the pain is not that bad.I'm a 47 yr.old male who works out twice a month and eats healthy and I weigh 225 at 6 3' . What can this be ?
I have a painful lump under my armpit that comes and goes randomly (at least it seems to me). Its not a boil but rather it feels like there is something lodged under the skin around the lump. It always comes abruptly not gradually and when I apply pressure brownish matter (its not as fluid as puss, and is no where as pungent) comes out, followed by blood. Usually after I have relieved the lump the pain is gone within minutes and it disappears within a couple of days.
