Lump behind molar

Common Questions and Answers about Lump behind molar

lump

I have a little lump on my upper left gum behind my molar but further back than I imagine my wisdom tooth would be. It is painless and I am unable to move it with my tongue but if if push it with my finger it moves slightly with a little click. I have made an appointment to see the dentist but was worried so thought I'd ask your advise. You can not see the lump just feel it.
When I traced back my dental--I had a filling done 6 moths prior to first symptom and a white bony infected lump above where root canal and previous infected tooth were. I was very ill and today have infection still seeping out behind l ear and l jaw!!! Dentist said dental infections usually are localized so felt not likely. I asked if the infection can travel to ear/nose/throat and they said a tiny hole does exist to parotid glands.
I have a lump thing growing, right where the tongue passes behind the back molar. Just curious? I am hoping it is from allergies...
I am a otherwise healthy non smoking 18 year old male and I have two abnormal lumps on the left side of my face, one under my jaw that has been present for four weeks or so, and one I just noticed two or three days ago behind my ear near the jaw curve under the lobe of the ear. They are both very hard and immovable. the lump under my jaw at first was rather swollen and I could feel it when I swallowed (three weeks ago or so) that however has stopped and I can no longer feel it when swallowing.
I have a hard, bony, round, white colored swelling on my right upper gum above the molar on the inner side. It has been there for almost two years now. I showed it to a dentist as I am a heavy smoker and was worried about cancer but he just disregarded it. That was a year ago. On some days it feels less swollen when I rub my tongue over it, but of late I am feeling a pressure sensation all the way up my right nostril and sometimes above my right eye. What could this possibly be?
My dentistry issues have been average my entire life but when I was 16 or so I've had a root canal on an upper molar. Anyhow I admit I don't floss often at all, so when I do, I can smell the rotten/decayed food smell and it's horrible. Anyhow; of course I don't ever have that smell unless I floss, and I'm on 6-month cleaning appointments and everything was always fine until my last appointment!
The only time I can get it to slow down or stop for a day or so is to take benadryl(usually 25mg). Also I have a big sore spot about a half an inch behind the molar that was done now the pain seems to be up inside the gum and near my ear now too. Also, my cheek seems numb on the outside of where the tooth is and I have trouble with my speech now.. As of last Friday I have lost like 85% of my taste and smell ability also.

In Oct,2006 I had to have an extraction of my lower left 1st molar I had a root canal done on this tooth 21 years before and it had a crown on it. I went for a cleaning appt , when they did x-rays the tooth deteriated in the gumline and bone .An oral surgeon extracted the tooth and did a bone graph due to bone loss. I was never givien antibiotics. After a wk I still had swelling in my face and the site was oozing pus.
, I have noticed a hard, smalll painless lump, 1 cm diameter, pertruding maybe 3mm, not bleeding/course feeling, on my top palette near my far left back molar. I haven't noticed this before (because, I normally don't inspect my mouth so much!) & should it concern me? Thanks!!
I've just had my 2nd root canal to my left upper back molar - 2nd one in. The first root canal was the back molar and although my pain was lessened - it still existed. It was the same pain that would hit when I chewed - randomly, but the same intense deep nerve pain that almost made me pass out depending on how hard I was chewing, and throbbed for minutes afterwards, and made the whole area sensitive to hot and cold.
To compound this, after I'd seen my family doctor, my gums became very sore on my right side directly behind my molar. It hurts to chew there and is more irritated on the bottom jaw than in the upper jaw. With my tongue I can feel a fairly hard lump in the location where my wisdom tooth would have been. (Removed all four wisdom teeth 25 years ago....I'm 43 now). Please help!!! Any ideas?? I can't see the periodontist until next month. Oral cancer? HPV?
5 (6 days post last exposure), got a bump behind left ear which hurt very bad if pressing on my ear. At the same time pressure on my left side temple started. Was prescribed Zithromycin (doctor said it was an abscess), and it rapidly went away in 3-4 days of antibiotics. Pressure remained. Slight metallic/bad breath taste in my mouth. Pressure is extending down the left side of my face (across the cheek bone) and ending at my molar.
It started at beginning of the year with a node behind my right ear and that went down and the a lump in my breast and that too went down and then my neck. My voice will completely disappear at times and now I can no longer sleep on the right side. i have had both a biopsy (which showed increased lymphocytes) and the neck CT with contrast results are not back yet. Now I am starting to lose weight - which I am sure is a combination of stress and just too painful to eat.
First mandibular molar burning/itching/aching/throbbing/pressurized My gums swelled up with sores and pus in between first molar and pre-molar. Pebble sized painful swelling in between gums and cheek infront of tooth. Something was different this time, very different. It felt like there was a bug with a chisel hammering and trying to chisel it's way out of the tooth.
there MUST BE SOMETHING IN MY TRHOAT OR SWALLOW (pharynx or larynx). In January 2012 it further developed to stabbing pain on two-three places around my adams-apple. I was totally disabled. Slept 1-2-3 hours at night. I required medical examinations. I was through CT, MR, x-ray, gastroscopy, ENT. All without findings. (This just built up under my GPs claim that I had anxiety.
This is the jaw joint and inflammation of this joint can cause pain on opening the mouth and tenderness on palpating behind the ear. Check with your doctor to rule out this condition. Lymph nodes which are enlarged greater than one cm are significant. However, you can follow up to see how they are progressing. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
There is no sensitivity to hot or cold, and tapping on the crowned molars in front of and behind this specific crowned tooth causes no direct pain - it is extremely tooth (and possibly even root) specific. Within 24 hours of the onset of the pain (during which I can't chew anything on that side of my mouth) the gum next to the tooth adjacent to the cheek becomes more and more inflamed, forming what looks like the photos I see online of an aphthous ulcer, red with a white point or center.
Wow. Ive been feeling so good that I didn't think of the way the treatment might have affected my muscles. This meniscus situation has been a problem for years. Ive been able to manage with cortisone shots but I have now developed a "Bakers Cyst" behind my knee which is giving me some pain. Maybe I should postpone the surgery, but for how long? I was just thinking I could fix this issue too.
I think I have the H thyroid autoimmune disease (can't spell it - my Japanese not that great) I'm fearing HL at this time - lump behind my ear...
Had my bottom right side third molar pulled about two weeks ago. At first I just had terrible jaw stiffness on the side the tooth was pulled. Well that resided but now I have chin numbness on the same side. It feels as though there's still novacaine in it & it feels rubbery/puffy to the touch. I'm freaking out because I've never had this side effect before. I'm not sure if it's from the novacaine injections or the actual removal of the tooth.
I don't necessarily have ear fullness, but the area behind my ears near the jaw feels odd inside. Almost like they are swollen. It is hard to explain. I am at a loss of what do do next.
About six months ago my left neck began to hurt and I noticed what I thought was a lump there. I went to a head and neck specialist and he said that I had inflammtion of my Carotid artery(Carotidynia). The lump, I guess, was just the bifurcation of my artery that was swollen. The doctor told me to take an anti-inflammatory(ibuprophen) for 2 weeks. The pain finally diminished, but about a month later it started in my right neck.
The dr said that it could be that it's still too early or that the embryo was hidden behind the yolk... I don't know what's happening. Is the sack empty? I really don't believe that I am 5 wks or less into my pregnancy b/c finding out that I was pregnant through a HPT on Feb-8-07 doesn't really make sense if I really were 5 wks along right now. I mean, if I do the math, it just deosn't add up... Has this happened to anyone else?
History of my problem: For as long as I can remember, I have had a problem with my hyoid bone popping out and causing excrutiating pain. It is always the same - the right side of my neck. At about the age of 8 I talked to my pediatrician about it and he promptly told me it was not possible. That I was having anything "pop out" in my neck. He contended that there wasn't anything there that could pop out. So I just continued to push it back into place whenever it popped out.
The pain I have mostly started 3-5 weeks ago as an odd feeling under and behind my right eye. I was just getting back into my contacts and dealing with dry eyes, so I thought that's what the discomfort was. When it got worse and was there I took out contacts, I went to the docs. I have been to an ENT and eye doc. My eyes are ok, desprite the pressure pain and eye strain (trouble focusing sometimes and more feeling like I'm cross eyed).
slept mostly after surgery (8am) but woke up later in the afternoon and noticed the left side of chin/lip from corner of mouth to center of chin/lip was numb. This was different than the other side that was no longer feeling the anesthesia. Day 2: No pain. The left side of chin and lip from the corner to the center of the jaw is STILL numb. My extraction sites are a bit sore but no real pain to speak of.
( I wish you all the best, and make sure you have a sonogram/ultrasound to make sure you had a 'complete mc' and there is no tissue or anything left behind. Best of luck to you, and your hubby. Feel better soon.
