Avatar m tn Did your doc have a treatment? I see a bunch of remedies for cartilage bumps from piercing. Will those work when there was never a piercing?

Avatar f tn I have a cartilage build up bump on the outer edge of my ear where a piercing used to be. It is not infected, it is just a big bump where my skin and cartilage has tried to grow over my piercing when I had it in. The piercing is now out of my ear. I have been rubbing Jojobas oil on it for two weeks and nothing. Can I numb it up with ice and cut it off? Will that cause a bad reaction with the rest of my ear cartilage?
Avatar m tn My little boy has had a bump behind his right ear from birth. It was tiny at first, and the health visitor said she was definitely not concerned, it was just a fat lump. He is now 6 years old, perfectly healthy, but I notice, and he does too, that it's still there and slightly bigger, more like a small marble now - he says he can move it around, but it starts to hurt when he does - it is on the bone behind the ear. He calls it his 'baby bump'.
Avatar m tn Hi there, not a medical expert but have gotten my ears' cartilage pierced numerous times, some with a gun and some with a needle. The gun is not accurate enough for me because you can end up with a weird angle for your piercing, and sometimes the cartilage is tough and the gun is more painful because it may not go through easily.
Avatar n tn I had one one on a cartilage piercing once, a friend of mine explained what it was to me. She told me that generally they don't go away and most don't really grow big. Upon hearing that, I worried and took out my cartilage piercing and within a couple of months it was gone. I now have a little bit of scarring but that's obviously to be expected. Good luck!
Avatar m tn I have a semi-hard lump directly behind my ear resting on the bone right behind my ear. It feels almost like cartilage. It used to be about the size of a pimple, but it just keeps getting larger. I recently checked it and it is about an inch in length now. The lump occasionally itches and seems to just keep growing. It doesn't hurt at all and is slightly movable. Any thoughts on what this might be??? Anyone worried??
Avatar m tn Hi, I've had this tiny little lump behind my knee, maybe half the size of a dime, for quite a few years. over the last few days however, it has ballooned up to about half the size of a ping pong ball. Just a little while ago, it seemed to pop, without any pain or anything, just found blood leaking down the back of my leg, along with a foul smelling pus. Any idea what this is?
Avatar n tn ve been to the dr and have had an ultrasound which was satisfactory. The lump showed up as cartilage and therefore the sonographer could not see behind it to explain what has suddenly pushed it up when the other side is flat. I was therefore sent for a chest X-ray which has also come back clear, with no masses seen and no explanation as to why this lump has appeared. My dr has told me to ignore it but to come back if it grows or becomes painful.
Avatar f tn For about a month now I have had this hard knot located behind my ear, its very, very sensitive. Also, I have noticed that I have been getting headaches frequently and its very hard for me to concentrate now. I don't know if that is because of the knot.. I have been researching seeing what this could be and all I have found is cyst or a tumor. So, please tell me what you think this is. I'm very worried, I am fifteen. I am planning to go to the doctor soon.
Avatar f tn I just recently gauged my ear on the left side(I went from a 16-8). And my glands swelled up on that side a little, then went down about 2 days later. Then about a week ago I gauged my right ear, and I thought the glands were just swollen on that side. But when I felt around it I felt a tiny knot right behind my earlobe under the bone, and underneath it I have another knot, but it's more like a bump and its alot bigger, but not as sore. It's just like swollen.
459111 tn?1250038308 Hi, My husband is 42 yrs old, and 2 weeks ago noticed a FIRM (not rock hard) oval lump around 1.3cm by1.8cm behind his left ear. It's a hard place to explain,It is right in that soft spot directly under the earlobe, right up in the soft bit where the crease is right up near ear cartilage. Went to Doctors he said its not the paritod gland and he said alhough its firm, it moves slightly he said it was a cyst, he said its smooth and oval .
Avatar f tn t know what its from it feels like a knot but when she turns her head there is a lump on the other side as well but not as bad! I am scared my husband says don't worry and just wait for the doctor to look at it but our appt is next week what should I do?
Avatar f tn Hello, Most lumps in that site(behind ear) are due to infections or benign tumors of soft tissue origin. Behind the ear there is skin, fat, cartilage, bone, nerves, blood vessels, lymph nodes, and salivary gland tissue (a portion of the parotid salivary gland extends behind the ear). A bump can develop from any of those structures, and could be due to a tumor (benign or not), an infection (Lymph node or skin), a swollen muscle or salivary gland, etc.
6498330 tn?1389709379 I dont think mine is infected but it grew a lump under and its making the piercing slanted. I want that lump gone so bad. I told My doctor about it and he just prescribed me some anti biotic.
Avatar f tn s still a bit sore at the top of my bottom lip and slightly yellow around the whole where the piercing had been.
Avatar m tn Yes, stopping the drug use will absolute prevent further damage so of course that is #1. In addition, you need to deal with this lump as you would any lump, investigate it further to rule out cancer. You are not a doctor, and because it feels like something that you once had in your earlobes and you read an article, does not qualify as a diagnosis. Please see an Ear Nose and Throat doctor, ENT, to have this examined and help to correct/prevent damage and to rule out any funny stuff.
Avatar f tn t have enough energy to fight off infections. and getting infections can be bad for the baby because you had to take antibodics. piercing places won't do piercings or tattoos if you're pregnant.
