Lump at injection site on dog

Common Questions and Answers about Lump at injection site on dog

I had no idea! He did use the word abscess instead of cyst. Thanks! I'll let you know how it goes!
Was your dog recently vaccinated at the site of the lump? If so, he might be having a bad reaction to the injection and should be seen at once by the vet. There are lots of other things it "could" be, but your safest option is to have it evaluated by your vet.
My dog (Wiggles - Beagle/Jack Russell mix 6 years old) has a lump on her neck about the size of a half dollar. It is where her collar is and we only noticed it because she kept scratching. It doesnt appear to be hurting her and it moves when you touch it. We are taking her to the vet tomorrow but just curious to what it could be.
They said if it gets bigger or doesn't seem to get smaller to bring her back on Monday. They withdrew some fluid from it and looked at it under a microscope and said all they found were some "imflamatory" cells, and no concern about cancer. Great! Sunday morning I woke up and the small lump had grown to probably the size of a tennis ball and her whole muzzle was swollen with fluid as well as a little down the front chest to between her front legs.
He does have a large bed in the back seat, that he lays in, but wither he is in the front seat or in his bed, he moans most of the time when i am at a red light and then i press on the gas.. and i am not flooring it at all.. Then last week, i was scratching his belly kinda rough housing and then he totally yelped, which he never ever does unless, some stepped on his tail or something..soooo I am talking him to the vet today, hopefully to do xrays or something..
45 on the morning of the 6th. I asked my family to pray that she would go on her own as I did not have the strength to hold her for that last moment in her life with her big brown eyes looking at me. I thank God that I did not have to do that, but it was so hard when she died in my arms that morning. I will tell that story someday soon. Please know in your heart that you did the right thing. When she gave up eating she was telling you how tired she was and she was ready to go.
I'm sure you'll get some better ideas once the other dog lovers on this site respond. Tatie05, its been a couple of days since you posted, how is your dog doing?
I have pain in lower back on left side, left hip pain, left pelvic pain and pain down the left leg at times. It comes and goes. Gets real bad,(when I put weight on left leg) then can ease up within minutes with changing position. I had similar trouble when I was about 30 but it went away. Any ideas? I am 47 now.
) Since then, I had an US in Feb on the right breast for 4 cysts (no follow up needed at this time) and a mammo on the left side in May for a new lump (cyst). Now in July, had my yearly mammo for which I got the call back for spot compression. I go in on the 10th. I'm doing fine mentally...just wish I didn't continue needing screenings. In march I also had a biopsy of the lining of my uterus (benign). I have conflicting feelings about screening...
I suffer from the same exact kinda thing only they seem to appear on my feet, legs, and upper arms. I am 13 years old and have yet to see a dermatologist. The symptoms described match my exact problem, for you see i have been getting these "Very small itchy blisters" Every year between June-September.

SHe has a large non painful hard lump at the injection site, fever and a temperature of 40.5. She is shivering and not eating. Our vet has her on anti inflammatories and antibiotics and has suggested a blood testa after three days if no improvement. We've also been told if her temp gets up to 41 to cool her down in a cold bath. I'm not sure if our vet knows what to do in this situation. I need another opinion.
I am ticked off at the vet because she put my dog on an anti-biotic that I had never heard of. My dog has tested and tolerated doxy, & tetra but she put him on Simplicef. After giving the RX for a few days, I noticed that my dog was itching so much, literally jumping out of his skin. I called the vet & the tech assured me that NO such side effect has been reported with that med. A few days later, I find a bump on his groin area and rash on his leg.
Hi I have just purchased an 8 week old Shih Tzu puppy dog. I took him to the Vet for his first injection and after the Vet had checked him over he told me that Reco has a Hernia. He said that he would not opperate untill Reco was 6 months old. We were give a 6 week insurance from the breeder and so we contacted the breeder and she told me that all puppies of this breed suffer from this condition. Is this correct and can anybody advise if this is correct. Many thanks.

not too bad so far. Also is it weird to have an injection reaction at one site and not all of them? Three turned bright red after a few days and then faded into a bruise, but the last one hurt like a burn?? I hope there wasn't something wrong with that shot. So glad I followed everyone's advice and didn't go out and buy all the "stuff" I was going to. Haven't needed anything yet other than a couple of tylenol.
Hi Tramadol Warriors, Welcome to Part 13! We're so happy to see you! Come on in and get comfy.
The 2 articles in this issue of the Annals discussing opioid use and misuse illustrate the complexity of this question. In Grattan et al's study of patients on long-term opioid therapy for chronic pain at 2 of the largest health plans in the country, patients with no history of a substance use disorder were much more likely to "misuse" opioids if they were depressed.
with my PCP to discuss Provigil (Sp?), supposedly it helps many patients on chemo, I want to at least try it and see if it will help. I have read it can help with weakness and lack of energy. Hang in there Wyntre.
I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out. The last one about 2 years ago stopped me breathing in and out completely for 10 to 15 seconds and I thought I had bought it.
I'm now into my 4th week on PegIntron. I'm very tired most of the time. I have chills the night after the injection and feel awful on Saturday, with cramps, nausea, headaches and a bad taste in my mouth. But it largely goes away by Monday or Tueasday. Starting a few days after the second injection, I had a big boil on my ankle. I was prescribed an antibiotic for, it became much smaller after the 7 day prescription but there is still a smaller lump there.
messed up because of it, yet her docs continue to put her on tx even though it has not worked 3 times already she has had severe injection site reaction problems, hospitalized over & over had 2 strokes, water retaintion etc etc i asked her what her biop says (stage/grade) and she doesnt even know, she still drinks heavy and these docs just keep on keeping on gotta make the donuts who says drug companies & docs dont keep each other rolling... the whole thing makes me ill...
a killed virus needs the addition of an ADJUVANT to give the immune system a poke because it doesn't contain the virus that the live ones do. UNFORTUNATELY ITS THESE ADJUVANTS THAT CAUSE THE TUMORS AT THE INJECTION SITE. one of the culprits is aluminum hydroxide used in the adjuvant material." theres more printed, but that I think answers your immediate question..
i am sure some on this site, will think badly of me for admitting to IV drug use from my past. i came from a upper midclass family, went to catholic school, never in my wildest dreams would i have thought of myself as being a junkie, but there i was in the late seventies, injecting drugs. it was a short period of time before i realized, i could not live like this. fast forward twentysome years latter and my eldest son was involved in heroin use.
Brody, relied heavily on out dated and narrow perspective supplied to her by a small group of dentists. The information provided to her would lead one to believe that TMD ( or "TMJ' as it is wrongly called by many) is easy to treat and self-manage or that it may all be in the patient's mind. The sources in the article stated that, "TMJ problems were originally thought to be caused by dental Malocclusion but that this was an infrequent cause of the problem".
Had my first injection 6/09/06. Some pain Friday- swelling and felt like I was carring a basket ball around Saturday and part of Sunday (very sore). Feel great today and think it will be worth it in the long run.
