I have a question. I had a knee scope (to clean out scarr tissue underneath knee cap) on 3-26-2012 I only took a week off of work & started PT 9 days after surgery. I am walking better & the bending is getting easier. My question is (my PT guy could not answer) why do I still have fluid on the top of my knee (left side) if the holes are at the bottom sides of the knee cap.
one incident was when i was running and my right knee gave out and i tried 2 catch myself with my left leg and my left knee gave out 2 so i fell to the floor the doctors put me on crutches for 2 weeks after that. i'm wondering if i should try and get a knee replacement...my knee does swell when i have been on it and it gets stiff when i've been walking or sitting down. the pain isn't 2 bad just bothers my a lot but i put up with it. can anyone give me an idea on what it could be?
After a year of telling doctors and surgons about this pain and swelling the did a MRI showed nothing. After having my knee scoped they found a hole in the moicus, after surgury I did thearpy and had no pain.
My younger brother had a major reaction after his surgery as his lungs filled up and they had to take him back into the OR and drain them. Just wondering if anybody has had any experience with post-surgical complications and allergies. I am female, age 60 and have various food allergies and am allergic to sulfa and penicillin. I also have very sensitive skin and just developed dermatitis on my groin, where the elastic of my panties meets the skin.
I've been sweating at night, but not every night. Obvisouly I'm taking the right steps by going to many sources. Any ideas from your end?
In particular, there are 2 noticeable lumps in the soft tissue on each side of the knee and the back of my knee feels swollen and lumpy. I expected to be much better by now. It has been exactly one week. Is this still normal?
The tear was about 2 inches above my right knee, rear of thigh. Immediately after the injury, I had the sensation of "sitting on a lump". Lumpy area is high in rear right thigh, going into groin area. I have been sitting on this "mass" for all this time. 3 mri's, 1 ct scan, and 2 xrays. They can't see a thing, but I still have involuntary muscle spasms of the hamsting...
I am an active 57 yr old woman who dislocated her knee at 17 and subsequently had two surgeries on that knee due to cartilage problems. After avoid almost all sports, I took up tennis 10 years ago without any knee problems. Two years ago when I tore a tibial tendon and was told there nothing that could be done for me, I got custom orthodics, started working with a trainer to increase muscular leg strength and lost 30 lbs.
Not a question, but I work as a nursing assistant on the Orthopedic/Surgical Unit of a large hospital. Many of our patients have just undergone hip and/or knee replacement surgery. I have been able to scrub in on numerous procedures and just want to put it out there that if any of you are about to undergo this surgery or are thinking about it, I am NOT a doctor, but I can answer a great many questions about the procedure and the recovery.
The knee is mobile and there is no activity that brings pain except for the kneeling. I have never had surgery on the knee, I have had no injury to the knee. I exercise moderately and am not considered overweight--well at least for a 53 year old man--but I was riding a stationary bike more frequently (4-5 x per week) and at a higher resistance level for a few month before this pain. If anyone knows what this is, any contribution to this thread would be appreciated.
Often after an injury or surgery, a patient undergoes a period of immobilization to allow the injured area or surgical site to heal properly and to reduce the risk of further damage so he will need crutches and cast for initial period. A below knee partial weight bearing cast may be required if the lesion is excised from distal femur. Take care!
My 12 year old son was just diagnosed with bipartite patella after having pain in his left knee which began after a minor traumatic fall on it a year ago. Luckily our family doctor ordered x-rays and our chiropractor ordered a CT scan to review the injury carefully and referred us to a specialist. We took him to see an orthopedic surgeon in Stanford University's Children's Clinic. Her advice was PT first.
My range of motion has decreased, the pain has increased to the point that I need to take 3 Percocet 10 per day just to work, and it is grossly swollen with a particular lump on the outside. My replaced knee is at least twice as big as my other knee. On my one year anniversary the doctor took an x-ray, said the prostetic is in great position and did not address my concerns. Any one with any help would be appreciated.

I had a sarcoma tumour on my right knee. To fill in the hole after excising the tumour, the surgeons took muscle and skin tissues from my thigh, and both sides of my calf. I experienced foot drop for a few months but it is almost gone now. However, although the surgery was successful, nerve pain developed. The plastic surgeon says the nerve pain is a result of the brian misinterpreting the nerve signals for normal body senses. Sometimes the pain is quite severe.
It doesn’t feel serious, just similar to a hamstring or ankle strain which most players get – only with it being in such a precise position (op scar) and with my knee troubles in the past I’m concerned. I've only just started playing again after my last operation on the other knee and have worked hard to get my fitness and skills back up to a decent level - more surgery know would devastate me. Does anyone have a diagnosis for this?
You didn't mention your mom's age, however, to normalize some of this, I was 52 during my 6 months of first-line chemotherapy and was hospitalized four times for dehydration (after surgery). At home, there were times that I couldn't walk from the living room to the kitchen without sitting down. Even after chemotherapy was completed the fatigue continued for approx. four months despite a transfusion to raise my red cell counts. I could go on and on.
my husband had sudden knee pain a week ago , it is most unbearable while driving , he did not injure it , there is no swelling, even when I drive we have to pull over so he can stretch it out the door , very, very painful, hard to go upstairs, he had acl surgery on the other knee about three years ago, but he had injured it while shoveling , but this one is sudden for no reason, the pain is in the right leg and radiates all the way down , very sharp .
This is still controlling my life. I had my knee MRI'd last Wednesday (after having an attack in the morning), but do not know the results yet. I have learned from reading this forum that this pain happens to both men and women.
Three months ago while seeking medical treatment on a broken bone in knee, the Orthopedic surgeion found pain in his thigh. While following the pain he found it traveled up inot his abdomen and to his scrotum. I took him back to the PCP that same day. She examined him and didn't physically find anything wrong with the testicles, but based on my son's knee jerking reactions she sent him for a sonogram. During the sonogram they found a mass that appears to be a cyst per the sonographer.

I have had several knee surgeries including a sugery back in 1979 with last surgery in 2004 a total knee replacement. I am very curious to see what has gone wrong after so long as at the bottom of the knee cap on the front, something has come loose or is a spur that seems to be poking through the skin. It is very "sharp, rough" on the outside. What could have happened?
i just found a lump, right where the xyphoid is.Above stomach in the center and below rib cage. I have no pain but i do work out. I just want a little knowledge before i get checked out.
Hello. We have just found lump on my daughters back about the size of a deck of cards that we have been told is a fatty deposit. She just turned 4. We were also told not to worry too much and just to keep an eye on it. I see many comments from people that they started getting them when they are teenagers and they have the conntinued to get them. I worry because she has one so young. I welcome any advice or opinions.
Any other lumps I have found over the years have been treated via antibiotics and have cleared up within a few weeks. The lump removed via surgery was not cancerous. Hopefully this one will clear up without surgery too.
I must admit that I was pretty convinced that there was no lump with IBC, and that as my breast isn't now bright red/pink and warm it couldn't be that at all, however I did read up today on a couple of cancer sites which mentioned the lump appearing suddenly after a few weeks, and that it would most likely be large as mine is, also when I had the first lot of bruising my breast was very red/pink and warm, but I put it down to the bruising, didn't associate it with IBC or anything.
