Lump above shoulder

Common Questions and Answers about Lump above shoulder

lump

I have a very rambunctious 9-month-old puppy, who recently jumped up to greet me, and her nails were so sharp, she REALLY hurt me above my left breast, almost to the shoulder. (We have since gotten her nails trimmed!) She left a bruise, and one night, I touched the bruise and, to my surprise, found that underneath that bruise was a pea-sized lump. It is in a place that one would not notice when doing the regular breast exam, because it disappears when you raise your arm to do the exam.
What muscle could be pulled that would cause pain in both above the chest and my armpit/shoulder? Or what ligament could/would be torn? My doctors don't know what to do with me anymore. I've tried Ibruprophen AND aspirin as well as Naproxen, but I'm not sure if they work seeing as how the pain comes and goes so quickly anyway. And, do pulled muscles last for more than 7 months? It's not a pain I have every day, and I seem to excecise okay, too.
I was never free of pain and after the surgery the pain started going down my right arm into my hand with numbness and tingling in all the fingers. Approx. one year later I developed a lump on the top of my shoulder, which to me looked as if it was in the center the clavical. An MRI was done which showed osteophyte formation at the acromioclavicular joint with degeneration. My doctor referred me to another orthopedic surgeon.
between neck and shoulder area. This is more on the shoulder toward the front slightly where shoulder meets neck. I see the same on the other side but on the right side it is more puffy, swollen. No pain. No lump. Just swollen area three inchs x two inchs? Is this normal, I may have never noticed or is this a swollen lymp node?
the arthrogram only showed what was wrong with my upper shoulder, not what the problem was in my shoulder blade. the best way to describe it is as if i'm being stabbed or poked in that area of my back (its quite constant). if i put my hand down by my shoulder blade and pull upwards, i can feel a bump, as if the tissue (muscle) is rubbing over something swollen. a few monthes ago i was given cortisone injections (2 on different occasions) in that same spot that hurts by the shoulder blade.
) sized lump seemingly where the neck meets the shoulder. It is under my skin completely; i can stretch the skin above it just like any other part of my body. It is hard, circular, and seems to have no feeling. I can move it around, much more forward and backward than right to left. I discovered this when I was at the physical therapist for a rotator cuff injury (both are on the right side). My therapist said it may be a muscle spasm but I'm skeptical.
Painless lump just discovered on the front left shoulder above armpit but not in the crease. Clearly evident as I look down upon it; can be felt but not really moved. No evidence of similar on right shoulder. Is this something that I should be worried about? No recent illness or infection although I am having gallbladder-type pains in back of right shoulder. Thanks for any input.
i have a lump on my upper right side just below my shoulder ,i have had this lump now for 2 months and it is not getting any smaller.please could you give me a diagnosis.
A few days ago, I noticed a small lump had formed on my upper back, just above the shoulder blade. At the time it was basically the same tone as the rest of my skin, but felt like something hard about the size of a pea just under the skin. Over the past few days it has gotten rather red (with tenderness and slight redness surrounding it for about an inch) and is somewhat painful when pressed.
My wife has a small hard bump (1/2 cm in diameter, 1/4 of a cm in height) under the skin. It is situated above and to the right of her left shoulder on the back, almost at the nape of the neck (so between shoulder blade and neck but up high at the nape of the neck). It is under the skin and can be felt at the nearly same position even if the skin is shifted around (we think it may not be a part of the skin), it feels like it is situated on the muscle under the skin.
I am 37 years old.I noticed a lump above my right breast just above the nipple. I rubbed it a bit hard and now my right side hurts when I move a certain way or try to lift something with the right arm. Also when I pull my head downward to the left I feel a pull and some pain near my right shoulder blade. Is this serious?
However, right below the bra line on my back, I noticed ab a year ago a big squishy lump over my spine. It's not hard, but it does seem to move if pushed around. Weird and gross I know. Lol. I seem to have a lot of back pain right above it around my spine as well. I have a high pain tolerance, and it's chronic enough to keep me up at night a lot for ab the past 2 years off and on. Lately it seems worse.
I have had this very soft fluid like swelling above my right clavicle. I hurt this shoulder lifting weights last year, but have also leaned out more since then and have been noticing this bad. Of course once I started reading about things I have been freaking out really bad. It doesn't hurt and is less pronounced in the morning and more later in the day. I work on a computer all day and that is the side that I use with the mouse.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what eles beside a infection or cancer could cause a lump in your armpit? I had a sergeon tell me it was a tendon or a ligiment, But I know whatever it is, Its definitly pinching a nerve cause I have shooting pains in my shoulder I cant lift any thing heavy with that arm and some time it throbs with a weird kind of pain that I know is not a muscle. The other day at work my pinky and ring fingers went numb for a long time.
Hi I have had this pain in my shoulder more like my upper shoulder above the blade. and when I touch the area it hurts and feels very weird kind of like a knot but way worse like rubberbands or something. It isn't normal. and when I use my arm lift something etc it kinda bothers me. I was wondering if anyone knew what it could be? I am going to see a doc this week and try and figure it out bc it is not getting any better it just gets worse and hurts.
-- As mentioned above, it avoids the need for pain meds for the first 48 hours after surgery. By the time the spinal wears off, you have already started to heal and the pain is less intense. In my case it was beautifully controlld with a few Darvocet over a period of three days. By the way, your lower body is NOT numb, and you can move about in your bed normally. -- You do not have to be intubated with the anesthesia thinggy. This means no sore throat upon awakening.
THEY SAW THE LUMP AND SHE ORDERD THAT A MAMMOGRAM BE DONE THE NEXT WEEK. THE TECH DID BOTH BREASTS AND BOTH SHOULDER AREAS,(IT WAS MY FIRST MAMMOGRAM AT 34)THE DOCTOR TOLD ME WHATEVER IT IS I COULD REST ASSURED IT WAS NOT IN HER OPINION CANCER AND SHOWED ME THE X-RAYS OF BOTH BREASTS,SHE ALSO SAID WHATEVER IT WAS SHE FEELS IT WAS IN MY BLOOD AND IT COULD BE ONE HUNRED DIFFERENT THINGS.
A week or so after my throat quit hurting I started getting swollen lymph nodes on my right side at the base of my neck-shoulder area which sometimes can be seen and can always be felt. It is significantly larger than my left side. I also developed a lump between my ear and jaw. (same side) It is not something that is easily felt from the outside by others. However, I can feel it and move it around. It hurts to do so though.
While massage my left skull, I have noticed the lump located exactly on the left-side on the bone above my left-ear, as I pressed on it, the area seemed to trigger a point that made my migrane even painful, then noticed that it travels to my left eye and beleive it or not even my left sinus area. Ready to call the hospital for an appointment... Any suggestions on what to do in the meantime or anyone would know what this could be?
I was very surprised and nervous to discover a tender lump the size of a chestnut, just below my sternum and above my stomach. All kinds of scenarios went racing through my head! But after reading the multitude of posts on this website, I feel much more at ease that I'm experiencing "xiphoid process" Thank you to all of you have posted, and helping those who just got here.

The doctor put me on birth control and I am still taking them. On October 2008, I had a small lump in my left breast and it was painful to touch. I had an ultrasound done but they could not see it with ultrasound; however, they could feel it with touch. So, they informed me that my breast is normal and it could be from drinking a lot of caffeine. Now, another small lump is felt next to it and the whole breast is painful. Each mass is about 1 cm.

I'm a 30 yr old female with anxiety disorder and constantly under stress. Recently, I noticed a small lump on my right side, towards the bottom of my neck (between the base and shoulder). It is painless, moveable, and changes in size throughout the day, but it is never bigger than approximately 1 cm. It feels spongy at times, but then it gets firmer. I've also been experiencing sinus/allergy/rhinitis issues due to the season. Other than that, I have no other symptoms.
Also, I just started my period today (and the lump appeared today). Could it be that hormones caused the lump? Though that does not explain why a lump would appear now, all of a sudden. In addition, I've been to a doctor in the past year because I had some unusual breast pain (that his since gone away). There was an ultrasound done, but no problems were found. I have no clue what might be causing it. I have read that it could be a number of things.
I can't quite figure out what the lump is and if it is harmful. I think its pressing on a nerve. The lump is sometimes swollen and sometimes not. Does anyone know what it could be? Its been around for going on two years. Thanks for reading and I hope to recieve awesome feedback!
I just assumed hormonal, but then I started getting twinges in my L shoulder, which turned into a dull aching and sometimes burning sensation. The area that it started out in was the side of the shoulder in the back, like under the arm. Imagine lifting your arm up, and right beneath your armpit, you rub the vertical area underneath. Now, two months later, the pain has progressed to sometimes on the top of my arm, the muscle. I seem to notice it more when I'm at my desk working. Dr.
I don't understand the mammogram was neg, yet there was a lump. hmmm, just me. postivie for a lump, yet negative. weird. My Mom had BR CA at 39 . I'm scared of cancer. I have a pretty tender area on my breast I noticed the other day....and I'm concerned, but they say not to worry as painful areas are not to be too concerned about. I'm gonna wait a bit and see what happens. I wish I knew what kinfd of cancer my aunt had, I have a non speaking family!
