My throat feels tight constantly like my throat is dry with a lump in front and sometimes I wake up choking and gasping for air. What could it be?
The sensation is a dull tightness, as though there is a lump in the area or someone is pressing on it. There is no sharp pain, but it seems to becoming more and more omnipresent. Who should I consult about this?
For 10 years on and off I have had a granuloma on the larynx. Symptoms include tightness in the voice box, stabbing pain on speaking, and hoarseness. This had a bad effect socially and at work, when I would keep a low profile and reduce the occasions when I would need to talk.
(Though it can also be due to abnormally large amounts of reflux, I had no heartburn symptoms so he ruled that out.) The larynx gets inflamed, and it can feel like you have a lump or excess mucuous in the throat, making you feel the need to cough, clear your throat, or swallow constantly. Very often, as in my case, it is notably worse after eating.
He prescribed me Prilosec (omerprazole) to take twice daily before eating.
For the past 2-3 days I have had a lump in my throat that feels like I have something lodged in there, like I swallowed something to big and it will not go down. It is a rather irritating feeling. What could this be? What are some immediate treatment options? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The ENT specialist scoped my nose and said my voice box was swollen so he has put me on Omeprazole for 6 mths to see if this will help. He says I have reflux going into my larynx even though I do not have heartburn.
My ENT doctor had me get a barium swallow (stomach through larynx or most of larynx) which looked normal, and will be doing a more thorough exam (down-through-the-nose tube light, in-office); my mouth looked normal enough. She says may be from GERD, but I only get acid reflux once or twice a year, though when I do it is up into the mouth, no heartburn.
I'm 22 years old and some time ago, I discovered a lump about an inch above my penis. I'm not experiencing any pain from it, and it's not noticable to the eye. However, I'm still concerned. Any thoughts?
Have they explored your esophagus (or trachea?) with a camera down your throat/nose? I know they can inspect larynx and vocal cords this way, and could possibly rule out esophageal inflammation/ulcer. Acid reducers might help with esophageal inflammation (this is well outside my knowledge base) but if there is an ulcer in the esophagus I doubt acid reducers would fix that. Vocal cords also can get polyps, which I assume could also impede the esophagus, much like thyroid nodules.
getting oral hpv with oral sex is extremely rare... you should see an ENT specialist to get good diagnoses... once you are diagnosed by your doctor you may come back to this forum to discuss the treatement options and to listen about others experiences... you should get yourself checked first...
I have a lump approximately 1 inch big about 2 inches above my inner anklebone. It only hurts when i touch it, or put any pressure on it. It feels like a soft knob when I touch it. Has been there for 1 year now, has not changed in size. Should I consult with a Doctor? I do stand all day on my feet at work and have kind a bruised ankle from veins and varicose veins on that leg.

m only 23 years old but have what feels to be a lump inside my throat (have had the lump for maybe 2 years) on my right hand side which is a symptom of Larynx Cancer. It was like that pain that you have when you get anxious, like a globus sensation but only in one side of the larynx. I already have a CAT scan that found nothing unusual, just a bit swollen lymph nodes but the physician said that it was because I had chronic sinusitis. My ENT physician said that an endoscopy or laryngoscopy was unnecessary because there was no mass or apparent damage in the throat according to the CAT scan .
For a two years I've had this charlie hoarse and lump feeling on and off in my throat. Lump much more often. I don't know if the two are related but I'm having a charlie hoarse right now. I find that forcing myself to "burp" significantly minimizes or entirely relieves the charlie hoarse (though I still feel the small lump when I swallow). Hope this helps!
Then a few days ago an cyst (or an enlarge lymphnode?) just right to the upper part of my larynx appeared. I was having a discomfort feeling in this area so I check it with my hand and I felt it. The discomfort went away after half a day but the cyst (?) stayed. I have also occasionally these days low fever which do not exceeds 36.9 Celsius. Also for a long time now, I have sometimes a weird pain or discomfort in the abandomen.In the right side usually.
One of the most common causes of swelling in this area is acid reflux coming up from the stomach and burning the larynx. The acid reflux causes an acid burn of the throat tissues resulting in swelling that feels like a golf ball is stuck in the throat. Often the post-nasal drip feel is actually normal secretion from the nose and sinuses that backs up because of the tissue swelling in this area.
Other common causes are allergies and infections.
These alternate with the severe chest pain in the same area described above. He also has an added symptom that his voice is now hoarse and he has difficulty swallowing (possibly due to all of this clinching and vocalizing of his discomfort). We wonder how much all of this is further triggered by anxiety and stress of the situation. Although it is tough to get him to sleep, when he's asleep, he does sleep through the night.
