I have a small lump just above my ankle on my left foot on the outside under the skin. If I bend over it feels as if a string is pulling it tight and the pain only at a certain angle is almost unbearable. There is no sign of bruise or bite and it gets much worse after I have been walking or try walking up stairs. It feels like it is radiating up my leg in to my calf and knee area and up into my thigh area on the outside only and all under the skin.
I have a lump on the side of my leg just above the knee and it's very itch and red and sore can u plz help
Hi! A lump above the knee cap or patella as it is called can be pre-patellar bursitis. A bursa is a small fluid filled sac around most mobile joints. This is lined by synovial membrane which secretes a slimy substance to lubricate these joints so that there is no friction during movement. The other possibility is that it is a cyst, a lipoma, or a soft tissue tumor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examination. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!

Large lump that developed overnight on my pompoo's left front leg above the knee. Could this be some type of insect bite?
I do not experience any grinding, locking, catching or giving way of the knee. There are no positions that make my knee uncomfortable other then putting my weight on it while kneeling. It feels totally normal otherwise. The pain is as if I knelt on a sharp rock or tack or even as if my bone is splintered. It began a couple of weeks ago while kneeling. I have not tried anything to help the pain other then not kneeling on it. Never had surgery. No hip pain or ankle pain.
Keep in mind I use a sports brace to prevent injury. I also noticed today that I have a pea sized lump under the skin, right above the surgical scar. I am very worried. Please help me!
I have a large soft painless lump that suddenly appeared above my knee what could it be?
I was doing knees to feet jumps and pretty soon afterwards I noticed a soreness on the back of my leg right above the knee. When I inspected it I felt a lump. I tried doing some research and thought maybe it was a hematoma or something, but I'm not sure. There is discoloration where the lump is. The lump is still there and has been there for a couple weeks now. It is not that sore just feels hard and it does not bother me when I am moving my leg around.
I have a lump above the back of my knee that is itchy. It comes and goes. This time, it seems to be lingering longer. It is hard to the touch. It does not hurt, but it is itchy. I do not have this problem anywhere else on my body. Could this be something serious?
My husband has a lump on his R-thigh above the knee about the size of a marble. It's hard and he says it's not painful. It does not appear to be a pimple/ingrown hair or have an opening of any kind. He did not make a doctors appointment, so I made one for him. What could this be? I'm a little concerned, but maybe it's just nothing.
The tear was about 2 inches above my right knee, rear of thigh. Immediately after the injury, I had the sensation of "sitting on a lump". Lumpy area is high in rear right thigh, going into groin area. I have been sitting on this "mass" for all this time. 3 mri's, 1 ct scan, and 2 xrays. They can't see a thing, but I still have involuntary muscle spasms of the hamsting...
The fact that my breast and under my arm rose above my daily pain levels is troubling to me. Also, having done a little research into the bone scan. I was sent for a breast scan but was called back for a total body scan.
I have also been in severe pain with swelling in my left knee 4 months after arthroscopic surgery. I also have a large lump at the site were the scope entered my knee, when I ask the doctor that did the surgery about he said it should go away before I die. I thought this was a horrible thing to say because I was really worried about the lump. I have a hard time even getting to see the doctor and no one seem's concerned about the pain and swelling but me.
It is significantly larger than my left side. I also developed a lump between my ear and jaw. (same side) It is not something that is easily felt from the outside by others. However, I can feel it and move it around. It hurts to do so though. After six months of on and off again low grade fevers of 99-100 degrees (my normal temp is 97.8 - 98) I went to a walk in clinic. The doctor ran a blood test on me and determined that my blood work was fine. they thought I was okay.
Now, both are healed (mostly) but after the bruising went down, I asked my doctor about the weird lump that is slightly painful to the touch located on the front and 8 inches up from my knee. Above it is a significant divot, or valley, or whatever. Doc says I got hit so hard it displaced the fat on my leg, forcing it downwards. PT guy said that it would go away after a while. OK, so the lump is smaller, but the divot is still there, and I was wondering -- has anyone heard of this before?
I am a 50 year old woman, I found a large lump that popped up suddenly on my right leg, just above and to the right of my knee. It is not painful. It is not soft like a lipoma. I am scheduled for an MRI but not a biopsy. According to all of the information that I have read about this, it is likely a malignancy. It is currently the size of a cherry tomato and when I am in a squatting position where the muscle is engaged, it protrudes.
It does move around, feels a bit like a fatty lump, I've also noticed another one just above it too. I've booked an appointment with my GP, the next available one is June 10th (3 half weeks away)!!! Obviously I wanted a female doctor. I'm constantly worrying. I haven't told anyone, my sister is due a baby anyday so I don't want to worry my mum or anyone. I feel sick everyday cos I'm worrying so much, I've convinced myself it's cancer. As soon as I find out what it is I will let you all know.
I was very surprised and nervous to discover a tender lump the size of a chestnut, just below my sternum and above my stomach. All kinds of scenarios went racing through my head! But after reading the multitude of posts on this website, I feel much more at ease that I'm experiencing "xiphoid process" Thank you to all of you have posted, and helping those who just got here.
Hi. Since April I have had pain above my left breast. It's not constantly there, but it comes and goes. Sometimes it feels like a burning pain, other times it feels like a cramp. I've also felt it in my armpit at times and it will also creep up over my shoulder. Although I VERY RARELY feel it on the right side, it DOES happen once in awhile. But for the most part it's been my left side.
Hi, I am 35yo female. I have had a red hard lump on both knees on the same location, which is on the right side of the knee. They are red hard and extremely sore, and just appeared about 4 weeks ago. Since then the above symptoms have got worse. I have had complete blood work done, all clear. I have had an ultrasound on both knees and that was all clear. I also have 2 lumps on my right lower calf that are not as severe, but non the less, sore. My doctor has no idea what the problem may be.
Dear Dr., I have a lump on the back of both of my thighs. The one of my left leg is slightly larger than the one on the right. Both are located about 4-5 inches above the crease in the back of my knee. It extremely hard and hurts when i touch it. It's about the size of a quarter. I didn't notice it until a few months ago and I always forgot about it when I went to the doctor as it hasn't really been bothering me until here lately. It seems to be more sensitive to touch.
I am 34 and have an extremely painful large protruding lump under my armpit. I have never had anything like this every before. It is growing rapidly and now changing to a pinkish tone. I went to a doctor and he said it is an infected gland and put me on some antibiotics. He said it should work. It isn't. I work at a job where I am irritating it constanly. It seems to grow more then. Should I get it drained or wait for it to burst on its own? I am worried about the pain of the draining.
I decided to go to a private orphapedic who said i had a trigger point in my lower back felt as a small lump just above my hip. He has now sent me for xrays and mri scan of my pelvis hip and lower back. He thinks it may possibly be osteotis pubis. I have got tenderness and slight atinging in my left pubic bone where the leg meets the groin. I have tenderness round my bottom, my lower back is sore and my hip on the outside is tender to touch. I am so fed up and depressed with it all.
Bhastrika pranayam - Take a long deep breath into the lungs(chest not tummy) via the nose and then completely breathe out through the nose. Place your fists, with the thumb pointing up, on the the legs, above the the knee, and do bhastrika for two minutes.Repeat this a) with the fists upside down, so that the thumb is pointing down, and resting on the legs, b) with the thumb pointing inwards c) with the thumb pointing outwards. This will help very much as the lungs open up in different ways.
