Lump above hairline

Common Questions and Answers about Lump above hairline

lump

Your lump may not be a serious problem, but as always, you should see a doctor, just to be sure. I have a roundish 1/2 inch lump just above my left temple, out 3/8 in. from my hairline. I noticed it about 20 years ago. My doctor said it was a FIBROID CYST. These are very common, and are NOT life threatening. (Also called a Benign Fibroid Tumor) Someday I may have it removed for cosmetic reasons. Other lumps may be Lipomas grow from fat cells.
When I get out of the shower, I see a pink spot on the skin just above my upper lip, touching the lip line. It's approx. 2 cm long by 1/4th cm high. The skin there looks slightly different but I'm 62 and have had age spots burned off in my hairline, etc. I made the mistake of looking up bcc upper lip and am terrified. I am female, never smoked, don't drink and have never had a cold sore or tested positive for HPV. I do not sunbathe but grew up in the south.
hi, i also have the same condition. In my case, my lump is located on my right above the right eye, and right in between my hairline and rigth eye browse. I have been having this lump for years and noticed in when i was 24 years old. It really gives me a different cosmetic look and not to mention my friends who noticed it. I decided to go to the GP and dermatologist. When i was 26 years old, i went to a surgeon in Singapore. He said it was benign tumor and had it taken out.
bottom corner of hairline is where there are smaller ones and a goose egg bump up about two inches above the left one... I am pretty concerned because it is uncomfortable laying on my pillow and I wonder if it's just caused by stress-- NOT having any other symptoms such as throat problems - I think I'll wait a week or two, someone mentioned on another post that its a WAIT and SEE kind of thing..
Is this large lump from the brim of his brow (nose) to the hairline cause for concern? Please inform me. I am a first time mom who has waited a long time for a child and I will admit that I am being a bit concerned just because I don't want anything to be overlooked.
Hi, My 8 year old son has a lump the size of a marble on the left hand side of his head, just above the hairline. The lump does not move and is not sore. My paternal granmother passed away from non-hodgkins lymphoma 9 months ago which I understand may be genetic. He has a Dr. appointment next week but I am quite concerned and was looking for some advice. Thanks.
About 8-10 months ago I noticed a small lump about 1 inch above my hairline on the right side of the front of my head. No noticable marks on skin or near hair folicle. It feels firm and seems to either slide around a little bit or the skin slides around it, I really can't tell. An X-ray showed decreased density and follow up CT scan (with and w/out contrast)came out negative for pathology (I can't remember the exact wording).
I have had some of the same issues, swollen lymph nodes under my Jaw, ear and and near my temple the doctor had put me on antibiotics and they all went down, I had it another time but it was swollen on my forhead and down the side by my temple and ear and jaw once more but it looked like I had a scab just above my hairline where it was red and getting bigger so he perscribed antibiotic cream and it went away. He never told me what it was. Is this all happening on one side of your body?
For the last two months, I've had a hard lump along the upper hairline, that is about the size of a golf ball. Originally I thought nothing of it, thought it was just some fatty tissue or something as a result of scarring from c-section/tummy tuck, but those were both 8+ years ago. Now it's becoming a little bothersome when pressing on it and possibly with intercourse.
I noticed a couple weeks ago that I had a small lump underneath my scalp. You can't even tell it is there unless you feel it, because it looks just like part of the scalp. It also seems hard, but I prefer not to touch it. It is on the right side of my head, probably an inch, maybe less from my hairline.
It does move around, feels a bit like a fatty lump, I've also noticed another one just above it too. I've booked an appointment with my GP, the next available one is June 10th (3 half weeks away)!!! Obviously I wanted a female doctor. I'm constantly worrying. I haven't told anyone, my sister is due a baby anyday so I don't want to worry my mum or anyone. I feel sick everyday cos I'm worrying so much, I've convinced myself it's cancer. As soon as I find out what it is I will let you all know.
While massage my left skull, I have noticed the lump located exactly on the left-side on the bone above my left-ear, as I pressed on it, the area seemed to trigger a point that made my migrane even painful, then noticed that it travels to my left eye and beleive it or not even my left sinus area. Ready to call the hospital for an appointment... Any suggestions on what to do in the meantime or anyone would know what this could be?
Last night I noticed a lump on the back of my neck, on the right side, at the base of my skull. It's about the size of a penny and doesn't seem to be moving around or anything. It isn't real painful, only if I poke at it. I haven't had any visual issues, nor terrible headaches or nausea or anything. I had my family and a couple friends feel it and they all said it feels like a tension knot.
Rarely the lump is a cancer, but any lump that has a change in texture, size, color etc or which becomes painful all of a sudden should be immediately shown to a doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
After rubbing my neck all around, I have found yet another one that is much smaller I can feel, that is just above my hairline on my neck. Can someone explain what these are, and what medical help I should seek? Thanks a lot.
two inches above the base of my hairline and two inches in from my right ear. It is very painful when I put pressure on it and causes some dizziness/drowsiness. On the same side at base of my hairline I feel something that feels like swollen lymph nodes. Any ideas? Just hoping it isn't urgent. (I did wake up with a headache of the left side of my head today) Neuro background: I have had migraines since I was 13 years old, now 25. Dx with a Pineal Cyst in 2007 that is 1.
I have discovered a lump (not sure about the shape, round-ish, I guess, about and inch big) on the back side of my head, to the right side and just an inch above my hairline. It's not floaty nor soft, in fact it feels a lot like bone except it hurts a very little, little bit when I press on it (like a bruise). I have checked and double checked all over my head and it's the only lump I've found. I don't remember having hit my head or anything nor does this feel like a sebaceous cyst.
My 10 month old daughter has lump on her right frontal scalp just into the hairline. We noticed the lump when she was 3 months old, the doctors told me not to worry because it was probably just a cyst. I was also told that where it was located there is a vein running over it and they couldn't try to get a biopsy. My daughter has mild cerebral palsy so she sees a group of doctors at our Children's Hospital.
I noticed while washing my hair last night a quarter sized lump on my skull approx. two inches above the base of my hairline and two inches in from my right ear. It is very painful when I put pressure on it and causes some dizziness/drowsiness. On the same side at base of my hairline I feel something that feels like swollen lymph nodes. Any ideas? Just hoping it isn't urgent.
I have a lump on the right side of my neck, right at the base of the hairline. When I noticed it about 6 months ago it was roughly the size of a dime, hard, not attached to the skin, and whenever I touched it, I got a headache. I also have general neck stiffness, and frequent headaches. Now the lump is about the size of a silver dollar, takes up most of the right side of my neck, and it is flat, hard, and whenever I try to turn my head, it hurts.
I also have a hard bump little bigger than a quarter right above my neck where the hairline starts. If i press it, it feels the same way as the migranes do. I am only 17 and the migranes are ruining my life and my schoolwork.
I have found a lump almost exactly on the hairline a week or so ago but just now I have found one maybe 1cm above the first.
I noticed a 2 pea sized lump just last night. One lump (left side of my neck) just 3 inches above the end of my collar bone and the other lump just an inch above almost inline to my other lump, few inches down the back of my ear. Mine are both a bit painful, hard & still. I told my hubby about it cause I'm worried it might be something serious cause a couple of weeks ago I feel dizzy but dizziness just come & go, also I've been complaining about my backache since I was in grade school.
Hello, I had a small hard lump located in the middle of the back of my neck for about 5 years, it is slightly above the hairline. It has never been sore to touch or altered in colour to my normal pale skin. I am in generally good health and not been too concerned. However, it was my wife that noticed that the lump had suddenly doubled in size and was leaking a foul smelling substance.
I have found a small painful lump at the base of my skull on the lower right side--just above the hair line on that bone right behind the ear---seemed to come up yesterday----no lesion or break in the skin or redness--just painful and slightly squishy--I have an appointment with dermatologist in about 2 weeks---does this seem like a dermatologist issue?
My girlfriend developed a relatively small lump on the back of her neck at the base of her skull just above her hairline about 3 inches from her right ear. It developed fairly recently. I am always rubbing her back and neck because she had been in a car accident a couple of years ago and experiences chronic back pain, and did not feel it until 2 days ago. It is not visible on the skin, is about the size of dime or nickel, and causes her pain if pressure is applied.
Also worried about lump at neck just above hairline to the left a little. Self-conscious about my weight which people reassure me that is perfectly average but doing nothing to change.
Hi, I have a hard lump on the back of my head, right above the hairline on my left side. It has been there for 2+ months and is bigger than before. I've had issues with headaches and other issues with dizziness/nausea. The other day, I felt like I was going to pass out, almost like low blood pressure? My level of tiredness has increased rapidly. I'm always tired. It is starting to affect my work and school.

Hello everyone, I seem to have developed a small lump at the back of my head (about an inch above the hairline - probably it is called the end of the occipital). It is slightly painful also. Also I can feel it (I mean I can feel it there internally). Is it a gland or something more serious? I am a bit scared. Can someone help me out please?
