Lumigan same as latisse

Common Questions and Answers about Lumigan same as latisse

lumigan

Avatar m tn There is two different brands that say they have the same effect as Latisse but they cost much less than Latisse. They are Lumigan, and Bimatoprost. My question is do they actually have the same effect like Latisse? what is the diffrence??
Avatar m tn Lumigan (marketed for eyelashes as Latisse) has only been studied for eyelash growth and about 70% of people do develop longer thicker eyelashes. To my knowledge it has not been studied for scalp or eyebrow growth.
757137 tn?1347196453 It won't harm the eye or vision but side effects include redness and irritation on the eye and dark pigmentation around the edge of the lids. Plus the stuff is extremely expensive expect to pay about $120 per bottle. If you stop the meds they stop growning It works on most people, we've used it for years as lumigan for glaucoma. as with any medicine it doesn't work on everyone.
Avatar n tn One of the drops in this family of glaucoma medicines (Lumigan) is sold in a different form (Latisse) by plastic surgeons and dermatologists for eye lash growth.
1775444 tn?1319258310 You need to see an ophthalmologist Eye MD to be sure you do not have eyelid problems (blepharitis, styes, chalazions, etc.) You need to be honest with yourself and ask if you pull or pluck your eyelashes; that is a disorder called trichotilomania. If the answer is you have none of these conditions there is a medication to make eyelashes grow full, thick and long.
Avatar n tn The only thing that may help is stopping the lumigan and eventually you may see some improvement. You can also get the same problem with travatan and xalatan. I suggest you look into SLT laser treatment as a way to reduce the pressure and maybe drop down to just one medication a day hopefully. Then you might be able to use alphagan or trusot/azopt or a beta blocker and avoid the darkening problem.
Avatar n tn It is not a sign of ocular rosacea, Latisse in its drop from is used to treat glaucoma. Itching and redness are its side effects. Dr. O.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the feedback. It's been well over 4 weeks (it's now been close to 3 months) and one single hair has grown back. The rest of the area is bare. I've been using FML ointment followed after Latisse as per my derm's instructions but have seen no improvement (except that the rest of my lashes are super long, thick and dark).
12845664 tn?1427483649 They are not the same medication. Lumigan was initially sold as 0.03% but there was a very high incidence or redness, scaling, irritation, inflamed eyelids severe enough to discontinue the medication. They then came out with the 0.01% and found that these side effects were lowered. Still though Lumigan is more irritating for most people than latanoprost and Travatan Z. You should also look at how much money you save. Many of the new generics are not that much less expensive than the brand name.
Avatar f tn I have optimalized my condition but so far I still have little eyebrows left.
Avatar m tn Also beta blocker eye drops are not as strong, or as long lasting as lumigan and beta blockers do not work at night whereas lumigan does. If you had side effects on BB before you likely would again. So if lumigan once/day is working well why try something new that likely will not work as well.
Avatar n tn No difference. Ingredients the same. Generic much less expensive. If you tolerate generic use it as it will save a lot of time/money. Latonprost is generally very well tolerated. That cannot be said of "Lumigan" a brand name prescription drop in the same family. Zioptan will be ultra expensive.
Avatar f tn hi am a trich sufferer. can i use normal lumigan eyedrops on my eyebrows, scalp and eyelashes? i dont have access to latisse.or is there any other medication that grows hair fast? can i use folligen? what are the adverse effects of using lumigan on eyes and eyebrows?
Avatar f tn several months ago, I started using latisse. I liked the way my eyelashes looked, but around the 4th month, i noticed my eyes started feeling funny, so i stopped using the lattisse altogether. it's been a couple months since I stopped using latisse, but i noticed about 3 weeks ago that I have persistent problems focusing, and I feel slight headache and nausea. last saturday, I went to an optometrist and was told my prescription was too strong (-4.75 r, -4.5 left originally).
Avatar f tn The makers of Lumigan recently started to market the very same drops under the name Latisse for eyelash growth. I understand that they also looked into using it as a treatment for baldness but its too expensive to cover a large area like the scalp. I am very disappointed at postings that indicate people feel their surgeons are pressuring them to upgrade to a multifocal IOL.
Avatar n tn Azopt is a great medicine but sometimes expensive. Lumigan I really dislike because it causes red, inflammed, irritated eye, permanent dark circles around the eyelids and orbital fat atrophy with sunken in eyes and droopy lids way too often. Travatan-A is much better, longer acting, lowers IOP more and doesn't cause near the side effects of Lumigan.
Avatar m tn I have taken Lumigan for open Angle Glaucoma for a couple of years in one eye only. In April the ophthalmologist asked me to put them in both eyes. I have no problems with that and my IOP is well controlled. However, I noticed my PVC's have gone up considerably since taken the drops. At first with only one eye I had about 15,000 per day, now with drops in both eyes they have gone up to almost 30,000 per day. There where no other medication changes during that time.
Avatar m tn (I really need to re-quiz her on that) It is a shame, as it dramatically lowered my IOP - better than the Lumigan and Azopt I am on as well. I see from a more extensive web search that it is used very successfully after LASIK. as you mention, to improve halos and other aberrations in night driving, as it minimizes pupil dilation. Unfortunately for me, that same effect was not helpful, as I already have problems seeing in lower light, and the smaller pupil response wasn't a plus.
Avatar n tn I have pseudo-exfoliation in left eye. Started out on xalatan, then switched over to Lumigan when I was Glaucoma Suspect with ocular pressure 21-30. Under control low 20's on Lumigan, optic nerve healthy, no visual fields defects on test 5 months ago. However, last visit hemorrhage on optic nerve found and added Alpgagan P to Lumigan, did not do a thing after 6 weeks, pressure 24 today. Dr.
Avatar n tn Because I have intermediate uveitis that went into remission and came back as low-grade anterior uveitis I have seen in the past month a neuro opthamologist a retina specialist and a uveitis specialist. I am very lucky that although my right eye has uveitis, glaucoma successfully being treated and cataracts I still have 20/30 vision because I keep up on everything and follow my doctor's orders!
Avatar n tn Hi Emsed. I posted a similar thread in the Derm Community under "Eyelashes-fell-out-and-not-growing-back-w-Latisse". I had a clump of mine just fall out for no apparant reason (the curling iron might've been the culprit, but I'd been curling my lashes for almost 12 years so it's doubtful). I'd also been using Latisse for years (under Revitalash when it wasn'y yet FDA approved and the product was available), so my lashes were always super long and lush.
Avatar f tn I took lots of Meclizine in the past for motion sickness and insomia and I also used Latisse for the eyelash growth. Last use on Meclizine is about 4 weeks ago. Last use on Latisse is a few months ago. Can these two cause this kind of dryness on my eyes? 3 dizziness attacks I had one time started with a glaze on the sun when I stepped out of a room. The last two happened when I diced onion and the onion made me cry. Is the dry eye causing my dizziness and what can I do? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Is that still true?
Avatar m tn what is latisse used for? has any one heard of it? i know its for eyes but what does it do?
Avatar m tn When I had the cataract in my other eye removed last year I was prescribed Lumigan drops (along with other drops) after surgery. I have green eyes and everything I read worried me about my eye changing color which fortunately didn't happen. I am scheduled to have the other eye done next month and after researching it appears the Timolol could be used instead and I would not have to be worried about eye color.
