regarding Lumigan and others like it, have people experienced growth of eyebrows and hair elsewhere as well like scalp hair? or is there good understanding of the active ingredients,that they can also help brows and scalp hair too?
I am not only thinning fair eyelashes, but also fair hair and eyebrows and in my 40s with only slight graying. so has lumigan been studied long enough to know if fair skinned/hair people get similar darkening and lenghtening benefits?
there is a very fine hair that grows from the corner of my eye, i pull it out when it gets long enough to irritate but it returns. its not an eyelash, its not from my eylid at all its from the pink fleshy area in the corner of my eye. Everyone i talk to about this says it is not possible but i know it is. what in world is this?
m 45, doc verified post-menopausal (yes, very very early) and the last couple of years I have significant darkening of my sclera (whites of my eyes). I have had hypothyroidism since I was about 20 and I take levothyroxine. I had my doc run a full blood / urine panel to ensure it wasn't thyroid/kidney/liver related (nope). I went to my Opthomologist and he said he agreed they were dark but could see nothing medically wrong with my eyes.
I've lost my eyebrows (well, half of them) to hypothyroidism. Will they ever grow back? I'm tempted to try Latisse.
While I think I can provide some useful advice, there is obviously no cure for your problem and no easy answers. First the use of Lumigan. I really dislike Lumigan and try and never use it in my practice. It is notorious for causing red, irritated, inflammed eyes, permanent dark circles around the eyes and atrophy of the fat in the sockets causing sunk in looking eyes and droopy eye lids.
No difference. Ingredients the same. Generic much less expensive. If you tolerate generic use it as it will save a lot of time/money. Latonprost is generally very well tolerated. That cannot be said of "Lumigan" a brand name prescription drop in the same family. Zioptan will be ultra expensive.
Thanks, Martika. However, it's now been about 2.5 months and I've seen only one single lash grow back (I bought a 10x magnification mirror and study the area a lot). Another derm I visited prescribed me FML ointment to use on the area 2x daily, in addition to the Latisse I've been using. She said that the small clump is so much more noticeable because the rest of my lashes are so long, dark, and lush.
You will have to ask your Eye MD ophthalmologist whether you have normal tension glaucoma (often a difficult diagnosis to make) or not. I can't tell. Also beta blocker eye drops are not as strong, or as long lasting as lumigan and beta blockers do not work at night whereas lumigan does. If you had side effects on BB before you likely would again. So if lumigan once/day is working well why try something new that likely will not work as well.
I have taken Lumigan for open Angle Glaucoma for a couple of years in one eye only. In April the ophthalmologist asked me to put them in both eyes. I have no problems with that and my IOP is well controlled. However, I noticed my PVC's have gone up considerably since taken the drops. At first with only one eye I had about 15,000 per day, now with drops in both eyes they have gone up to almost 30,000 per day. There where no other medication changes during that time.
s not easy for them to get an OCT - they have to manually override it to look up and over the coloboma instead of straight in through the pupil. The doc got more information out of the live video feed while they were trying to locate the macular than they were able to capture in a snapshot. I have been described as "special", "unique", and "difficult" at various times!
No fluoro angiagram has been done; I don't know that they do that here.
Hi Emsed. I posted a similar thread in the Derm Community under "Eyelashes-fell-out-and-not-growing-back-w-Latisse". I had a clump of mine just fall out for no apparant reason (the curling iron might've been the culprit, but I'd been curling my lashes for almost 12 years so it's doubtful). I'd also been using Latisse for years (under Revitalash when it wasn'y yet FDA approved and the product was available), so my lashes were always super long and lush.
several months ago, I started using latisse. I liked the way my eyelashes looked, but around the 4th month, i noticed my eyes started feeling funny, so i stopped using the lattisse altogether. it's been a couple months since I stopped using latisse, but i noticed about 3 weeks ago that I have persistent problems focusing, and I feel slight headache and nausea. last saturday, I went to an optometrist and was told my prescription was too strong (-4.75 r, -4.5 left originally).
I am seventeen years old and I use to constantly pull out my lashes. I have stopped, but now I am dealing with an unwanted trim of my eyelashes. I was wondering usually, how long does it take the eyelashes to grow back?

Hair loss is not a problem with glaucoma drops and in fact one group of drops (prostaglandin antilogs-Xalatan, Lumigan, Travitan-Z) actually grown hair. About 70% of people on these medications exhibit thicker longer lashes. The makers of Lumigan recently started to market the very same drops under the name Latisse for eyelash growth. I understand that they also looked into using it as a treatment for baldness but its too expensive to cover a large area like the scalp.
I have pseudo-exfoliation in left eye. Started out on xalatan, then switched over to Lumigan when I was Glaucoma Suspect with ocular pressure 21-30. Under control low 20's on Lumigan, optic nerve healthy, no visual fields defects on test 5 months ago. However, last visit hemorrhage on optic nerve found and added Alpgagan P to Lumigan, did not do a thing after 6 weeks, pressure 24 today. Dr.
Azopt is a great medicine but sometimes expensive. Lumigan I really dislike because it causes red, inflammed, irritated eye, permanent dark circles around the eyelids and orbital fat atrophy with sunken in eyes and droopy lids way too often. Travatan-A is much better, longer acting, lowers IOP more and doesn't cause near the side effects of Lumigan.
Azopt rare makes eyes red, lumigan is a failrly common cause of chronic red eyes. You might discuss stopping the lumigan for a week or two to see if that helps. If it does Travatan-Z is gentler on the eye and often better at lower IOP, also there is a new preservative free prostaglandin glaucoma eyedrop Zioptrin which might be helpful. I have a very large glaucoma practice and when patients have chronic red eyes and they are on alphagan P or Lumigan I suspect them as the cause first thing.
