Lumigan for longer eyelashes

Common Questions and Answers about Lumigan for longer eyelashes

lumigan

Avatar m tn Lumigan (marketed for eyelashes as Latisse) has only been studied for eyelash growth and about 70% of people do develop longer thicker eyelashes. To my knowledge it has not been studied for scalp or eyebrow growth.
Avatar m tn Lumigan and latisse are the same chemical (bimatoprost). Latisse is suppose to be brushed into the lashes rather than put directly on the eye. All the medications in this group of glacoma medications stimulate eyelash growth: latanoprost (Xalatan brand name), Travatan-Z, Lumigan and Zioptan.
Avatar f tn hi am a trich sufferer. can i use normal lumigan eyedrops on my eyebrows, scalp and eyelashes? i dont have access to latisse.or is there any other medication that grows hair fast? can i use folligen? what are the adverse effects of using lumigan on eyes and eyebrows?
Avatar n tn I believe thiis is just due to genetics, perhaps, thin eyelashes are genetic as well... and one side being longer than the other could be considered normal. After all, I have been told that hair tends to grow faster on one side than other. If this is so, why can't eyelashes? And I agree with Dr. Hagan, that this is related to anxiety. To my knowledge there is no cure for this. I've tried everything!
757137 tn?1347196453 It won't harm the eye or vision but side effects include redness and irritation on the eye and dark pigmentation around the edge of the lids. Plus the stuff is extremely expensive expect to pay about $120 per bottle. If you stop the meds they stop growning It works on most people, we've used it for years as lumigan for glaucoma. as with any medicine it doesn't work on everyone.
274009 tn?1224434467 You are on all four major glaucoma drops. There are no serious long term side effects to being on those meds. You must have pretty severe glaucoma. Yes I wwould get a third opinion. Find one at www.aao.org Yes Lumigan, Xalatan and Travatan make eyelashes grow thick and long. Lumigan is being marketed as "Lumilash" for cosmetic reasons for just this purpose.
Avatar n tn One of the drops in this family of glaucoma medicines (Lumigan) is sold in a different form (Latisse) by plastic surgeons and dermatologists for eye lash growth.
1775444 tn?1319258310 You need to see an ophthalmologist Eye MD to be sure you do not have eyelid problems (blepharitis, styes, chalazions, etc.) You need to be honest with yourself and ask if you pull or pluck your eyelashes; that is a disorder called trichotilomania. If the answer is you have none of these conditions there is a medication to make eyelashes grow full, thick and long.
Avatar m tn My daughter has been growing hair there on the caruncle and under her top eyelid for years. Her ophthalmologist removes them with tweezers. I thought it was due to her having eye surgery at age 3, but he said no, it’s just something that can happen.
Avatar n tn In searching for a cheaper way to control glaucoma I found tablets offered. Do tablets work as well as drops??
Avatar n tn I have pseudo-exfoliation in left eye. Started out on xalatan, then switched over to Lumigan when I was Glaucoma Suspect with ocular pressure 21-30. Under control low 20's on Lumigan, optic nerve healthy, no visual fields defects on test 5 months ago. However, last visit hemorrhage on optic nerve found and added Alpgagan P to Lumigan, did not do a thing after 6 weeks, pressure 24 today. Dr.
Avatar m tn I have taken Lumigan for open Angle Glaucoma for a couple of years in one eye only. In April the ophthalmologist asked me to put them in both eyes. I have no problems with that and my IOP is well controlled. However, I noticed my PVC's have gone up considerably since taken the drops. At first with only one eye I had about 15,000 per day, now with drops in both eyes they have gone up to almost 30,000 per day. There where no other medication changes during that time.
Avatar f tn ( with out prescription.
Avatar n tn It is safe, effective, inexpensive. It makes the eyelashes longer which women (and some men) love. Side effects are very rare. Darkening around the eyelids, and atrophy of the fat within the socket are extremely rare (they are however very common with Lumigan a stronger, longer lasting medicine in the same family and it is brand name and expensive). Iris color change is only a consideration in iris that are hazel a mix of blue and brown.
Avatar n tn Azopt is a great medicine but sometimes expensive. Lumigan I really dislike because it causes red, inflammed, irritated eye, permanent dark circles around the eyelids and orbital fat atrophy with sunken in eyes and droopy lids way too often. Travatan-A is much better, longer acting, lowers IOP more and doesn't cause near the side effects of Lumigan.
Avatar m tn Also beta blocker eye drops are not as strong, or as long lasting as lumigan and beta blockers do not work at night whereas lumigan does. If you had side effects on BB before you likely would again. So if lumigan once/day is working well why try something new that likely will not work as well.
Avatar m tn Azopt rare makes eyes red, lumigan is a failrly common cause of chronic red eyes. You might discuss stopping the lumigan for a week or two to see if that helps. If it does Travatan-Z is gentler on the eye and often better at lower IOP, also there is a new preservative free prostaglandin glaucoma eyedrop Zioptrin which might be helpful. I have a very large glaucoma practice and when patients have chronic red eyes and they are on alphagan P or Lumigan I suspect them as the cause first thing.
Avatar f tn is there any other test besides that which indicates vision loss?i take lumigan once a night. for the past three years or so. I have only missed three times and let me tell youi remember those times how nice my eyes felt without the drops. no scratchy feeling, no tearing and especially very little red in my eyes. i almost felt that i looked normal. no one looking at my bloodshot eyes and commenting.
Avatar n tn I did ask, and she got her assistant to write on my notes: patient requests dilation. That appointment is in three weeks. But she said there was no need as my OCT "couldn't be better". I was just expecting her to want to have a good look at my nerves, as they are asymmetric. She said .2 and .4, the OCT machine said .7 (she said she disregards that reading and relies on her own). Now I'm doubting the quality of the exam, which I shouldn't as she has a fellowship ...
Avatar n tn While I think I can provide some useful advice, there is obviously no cure for your problem and no easy answers. First the use of Lumigan. I really dislike Lumigan and try and never use it in my practice. It is notorious for causing red, irritated, inflammed eyes, permanent dark circles around the eyes and atrophy of the fat in the sockets causing sunk in looking eyes and droopy eye lids.
12845664 tn?1427483649 They are not the same medication. Lumigan was initially sold as 0.03% but there was a very high incidence or redness, scaling, irritation, inflamed eyelids severe enough to discontinue the medication. They then came out with the 0.01% and found that these side effects were lowered. Still though Lumigan is more irritating for most people than latanoprost and Travatan Z. You should also look at how much money you save. Many of the new generics are not that much less expensive than the brand name.
Avatar f tn I have no particular advice except to be gentler on the eyelashes - stop eye makeup, eyeliner, mascara for a few months and see if things improve. Some glaucoma drops will make eyelashes grow longer, thicker and darker (but also cause red eyes and dark circles around eyes.) These drops are not approved for lash growth at present but may possible be approved for such in the future.
Avatar n tn I needed an updated Rx for my glaucoma eyedrops and he switched me from the brand name Lumigan to the generic latanoprost as I had hoped! He mentioned it might help reduce the eye redness that Lumigan can cause. Hopefully it will maintain a similar IOP in my right eye - it was measured as 16 yesterday.
1148619 tn?1332010984 Although my hair started breaking off a few months ago, no longer have to shave legs but once a week and no hair under arms anymore, my eyelashes have grown longer and they are curling, some of the lashes curling in which is becoming very irritating I am feeling all day like there are things in my eyes and they brush on my glasses. I am finding the SE rather funny, all the years I have been trying to make my lashes longer with makeup and its TX that has done this for me!!
Avatar f tn I fininshed chemo AC/Tox Oct. 29, 2009, had radiation - 28 treatments finished 1-7-2010. About 6 weeks after I finished chemo, I finished losing my hair on my head and lost eyelashes and eyebrows. Now after 3 months (they grew back even longer) I'm losing my eyelashes again. Is this normal? I'm doing nothing different before, during or after chemo/radiation.
Avatar n tn My eyelashes are falling out! I have had an infection that was like a rash around my eyes, it was all red and flakey and horribly itchy. Now it is starting to clear up after using antihystemines and E45 cream around the affected area. Now there are bald patches in my eyelashes and it's really worrying me. All around the edges of my eyes where the eyelashes start is itchy and there is kind of a burning sensation... What is this? How long does it take for eyelashes to grow back?
Avatar n tn He is disappointed that such a powerful glaucoma drug is being marketed to people as a way to grow eyelashes. You can get permanent staining on your lash line and if you are light eyed (especially hazel ) there is a chance that your pigment in your iris will turn dark brown permanently. You can also have it happen in just one eye. So... if I were you, I think I would seriously consider the cost of better lashes. You can use other cosmetic products that help, i.e.
