Avatar n tn I asked her why would a diabetic child need water? She explained the child had high keytones due to high blood sugar levels and the water would flush the sugar out of the blood. Being a type II diabetic and having lived with a type I diabetic most of my life, I had never heard of water being a treatment for high blood sugar. Is it true water can lower either keytones or blood sugar levels?
Avatar f tn Exercise can have various effects on blood sugar, both raising it and lowering it. It's important to check more frequently when you exercise and get some idea how particular tasks usually affect your blood sugar. Also to think about what you might have eaten before the exercise that might have had a slow rise in blood sugar to that level.
Avatar m tn How much cinnamin is 40 + grams? Too much can cause a drop in blood sugar, low blood pressure, thin blood and even liver and organ damage. If you take aspirin or any kind of blood thinners the effects will be even more severe. If cinnamon is lowering your blood sugar this would explain your symptoms such as hunger, fatigue and low blood pressure. Its a good idea for you to stop taking cinnamon completely and see if you feel better.
1773108 tn?1314158067 Good Morning, I have a question about high blood sugar levels that don't seem to stabilize. My boyfriend has been struggling for years with high blood sugar. He told me this morning that his level was at 480+!!!! He says he doesn't feel any different whether it's high or low. The lowest it's been (to my knowledge) is still in the high range of 200+.
Avatar f tn While it is normal to have a rise in blood sugar level after a meal, excessive rise in blood sugar levels could indicate inappropriate dosage/ timing of injecting the insulin or excessive or inappropriate proportion of carbohydrate in diet. You could start by slightly lowering the carbohydrate and increasing the protein portion of diet. If this does not seem to help, I would suggest consulting your treating endocrinologist for adjustment in dosage/ timing of the insulin. Hope this is helpful.

Avatar n tn My medication is considerably higher than mine? Can you explain why? My blood sugar was running abot 137 so my Doctor also put me on Actoplus as well. My Lipitor is about $100 and my wife's Simvastatin is about $6 (same quantity of tables-30). Why should my wife be taking medication with her levels being slightly higher than the desired mid-point?

1080243 tn?1262975363 High blood sugar, if this is what your husband has, ARE a sign of diabetes. They are usually not a sign of anything else (unless someone is sick or on steroids, in which case levels can be temporarily high). Initially they can be the only obvious sign, which is why it is so important that people have diabetes screening at their annual checkups. Your husband should be looking into this with his doctor further and taking appropriate steps to manage it.
Avatar f tn You have to work it with a very intense ab regimen, exercise a lot, and avoid simple carbohydrates since they metabolize quickly into sugar and sugar if not immediately burned stores as fat and goes to the belly first.
1058898 tn?1275675151 Your doctor is uninformed and irresponsible to be allowing your blood sugar to go so high without advising you to do anything. As Zoelula said, it is your health. It is up to you. Get yourself educated and get it under control. Else there will be consequences. This is the plain and ugly, but necessary truth!
Avatar n tn I am 42 years old Diabetic for 5 years on Metformin 500mg XL and Amaryl 2 mg. My blood sugars are not controlled. Fasting in 140 s and postprandial 300s. I am following diabetic diet and doing regular exercise/ What is the next step I should do. Please advise. My recent A1C is 8.5. Thank you.
Avatar m tn It is not just the medication that is lowering your blood sugar, but the diet as well. So that is a double whammy. So I should think the quick drop is normal. The question is how high is your fasting blood sugar and do you ever show symptoms of low-blood sugar. By the way, some people can control type II diabetes with diet alone. If while on your diet your blood sugar starts dropping too fast, see your doctor. He/She may want to reduce your medication.
Avatar n tn Today about 20 minutes after my lunch I started sweating, feeling weak, heart racing, etc. I checked my blood sugar and it was 71 after eating a chicken salad, salad. I checked it before eating and it was 77 so why would it go down after eating a salad and a few wheat crackers? 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me.

Avatar f tn Has anyone had a problem with high blood pressure since having a total tyroidectomy? Mine has been high, as high as 170/110. Avatar m tn I am a type 2 diabetic. On a recent visit to my periodontal dentist, I received an injection to numb my gums for surgery.
