765828 tn?1306263868 , there could be a serious reason why this is happening, i dont mean to scare you, it could be that you are constipated and pushing to much, but if the bowl is filled up, i would call your doctor right away, and this way, they can rule out different causes and hopefully get to the problem, i wouldnt take anything over the counter until i was seen by a doctor, good luck, let us know how you make out.
Avatar n tn While you are waiting to see your doctor, try excercising (it is a natural way to lower your blood sugar). Even a walk will help. If you don't feel up to it, make sure you stay away from sugary, white foods (things high in carbohydrates). 276 is a fairly high reading, the range should be 80-120. Mine is typically 110-170, although after a meal it has been in the 200's. My husband just found out he has diabetes also, and his was 479 when he found out!

Avatar n tn You cannot buy insulin over the counter without a prescription, nor can you buy syringes needed to inject insulin without a prescription. So you first need to go see your doctor. I would do blood tests before each meal and at bedtime each day until your doctor's appointment and write down the numbers that you get on your glucometer.

Avatar m tn Your doctor should test your HbA1c. This test gives an average blood sugar over the past approximately 3 months. Normal HBA1C is 4.3 - 4.6, with < 5.0 still being acceptable. If your HBA1C is 6 - 7 your blood sugars are too high. If it is above 7 you will be officially diagnosed as diabetic. Diet, exercise and weight loss are all a critical part of management of diabetes.
1192309 tn?1264801232 They tested my blood at that time and discovered the elevated blood sugar. Although I felt better in days (from the meds), I had gone back for the follow up due to rapid weight loss in one week (7 lbs) and frequent urination and thirst. Was Dx'd type II, so immediately began monitoring my carb and sugar in take. Is this about the right time frame for sugar drop, or is it too slow? Should I have had lower numbers faster?
Avatar f tn An over the counter medication is any medication that can be purchased without a prescription "over the counter", but does not make the medication safer and needs to be taken according to the directions on the package and there is a need to be more vigilent and take into consideration individual health, the benefits versus the risks and potential interactions with any prescribed meidcations.
Avatar f tn m pretty sure no over the counter product is going to stabilize blood sugar that is already in the range of prediabetes. But healthy diet and exercise sure does help. Simply using 10 pounds can really impact things.
Avatar n tn can i buy celebrex over the counter?
Avatar m tn Hello, I have a question about Natural Cholesterol over the counter options vs Statins. http/www.cholesterolinstitute.net/Reviews.html A few of these seem to offer good for the body items that help with cholesterol.  Particularly, this one seems to have the best ratings from that page:  HeartSavior If you read the customer reviews on Amazon, it seems to lower numbers quite a bit.
Avatar f tn I am a type II diabetic and I would like to know what is considered a "good" blood sugar reading for me when I test at different times of the day....before meals, after meals, fasting in the morning, at bedtime and other random times during the day.
5591135 tn?1380168056 What are some herbs/supplements that are safe to give cats that are over the counter to help with bladder infections/UTI's? We just cleaned the litter boxes and someone is peeing massive amounts of blood. I know its not Milo-he uses the upstairs box. We 5 other cats to rule out. Sigh....None are acting weird.
Avatar f tn Do you test your blood sugar at home? If so, waht are your fasting numbers and what is your 2 hours after meals. If you don't test at home it may be an idea to ask your Dr to run a HBA1C and also a fasting glucose test to see how your numbers are. Metformin can lose effectiveness over time / as the diabees worsens. When you are stressed try exercise instead of eating to help counter the cravings. Try to eat low carb diet with plenty of protein and healthy fats to help you cope.
Avatar n tn Eat light, do not stay hungry but eat simple things like toast, porridge, cereals, crackers, banana, rice, peeled apple, etc. Take over the counter antacid and antiemetic (this SOS for vomiting). Watch out for a day or two with this treatment. If still the symptoms persist, then you may need an antibiotic for the gut and would need to see a doctor.
Avatar f tn Is it possible to become addicted to over the counter medications? My 75 year old mother recently moved to my town so that I could help her financially, etc. I have become very concerned about the amount of excederine, prilosec, nasal spray, aleve, and other antacid medicines that she takes. She has a history of bleeding ulcers, she smokes about 2 packs of cigarettes a week, high blood pressure, and other ailments of old age. I didn't realize that she was taking so much of this medicine.
Avatar f tn I have a cold an taking no medicine is killing me. Is there Any over the counter meds I can take?
4371309 tn?1357956329 My Dr at Kaiser said that the OTC and the ones they prescribe are the same. I didn't argue with her since she has the degree and just bough some from the pharmacy. When ever your next visit is with your OB check with her/him.
5079728 tn?1365549989 So any medication that you can go in and buy without a prescription is considered an over the counter medication. This would include every single med lined up on the shelves ..... pain killers, cough meds, diarrhea meds, nausea meds, stomach meds, anti-itching meds, everything. If I recall correctly, you have cirrhosis, so you really do have to be careful not to take anything that the doctor does not approve first.
