Lower back pain from deadlifts

Common Questions and Answers about Lower back pain from deadlifts

pain

Avatar m tn Three months ago I was at the gym and my back gave out during an exercise. Three months later I still have lower back pain. I went to a doctor last week and after taking an MRI I was diagnosed with a herniation in L5-S1. I was told that it was not severe enough to require surgery because I haven't experienced any leg pain and the disc wasn't pushing on the nerve. Over this 3 month period I have had multiple episodes where I would have problems or discomfort urinating.
Avatar f tn MRI Report Says - - - - - L5 - S1 early grade I disc dessication with subtle posterocentral focal disc protrusion intending the thecal sac Details - I want to know what does my MRI report says? I got a lower back pain while working out in gym. To be very specific i was doing deadlifts with heavy weights. I gave it a rest of Five months and i was fine. But went to gym again did some legs exercise and again feeling discomfort while bending.
Avatar n tn The pain could be due to musculoskeletal issues and not necessarily from popping your back. Pain medications and avoiding your deadlift exercise at this point may help. Imaging studies will help rule out musculoskeletal issues or problems with your vertebrae or bones. Take care and do keep us posted.
1157811 tn?1263831494 you can do deadlifts, however, if your back is in pain, they might not be the best idea.
Avatar m tn I recently went to a specialist who stated that if my lower back got hurt bad during the deadlifting session then that could be pulling on the muscles in my head causing the tension and burning. But, i've also been told that TMJ and back pain are not related at all, so i've been told multiple things and don't really know who is right. It's miserable and the pain is borderline unbearable mentally and physically.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I lift free weights with a trainer and when I do chin ups, plus prone rows with dumb bells or bench press. I wake up with a stiff neck and upper right trap area or that area and just below that area. It takes a few weeks to go away and then I do other kinds of weight lifting for several months and nothing else seems to cause a problem except squats with a bar on my back. I think my form is good. But these two things cause a problem.
Avatar m tn When doing deadlifts be absolutely sure (do so you can look in a mirror) you have an arch in the back. If the back rounds out at all then the back helps pull you up and well....pain later. Keep your knees a little bent when doing them or even try somethng else for a while until you can heal. What about lying hamstring curl with a ball using only one leg, that can be difficult using only one leg, until you heal. Again, remember stretch stretch stretch the hamstrings especially.
Avatar f tn My fiance has been lifting for almost 10 years and 3 months ago he got hurt doing a deadlift with 350 pounds falling on him and bending his back in a worrisome way. He went to the hospital immediately, got his painkillers and everything. He has been too stubborn to get the MRI done since he started feeling better after laying in bed for a week doing all the treatments recommended by the doctor.
436713 tn?1408884730 When I twist my spine or am sitting, I can feel an increase of pain ranging from something a little sharp, to more of a dull pulling sensation. When I press on my back it doesn't feel like it is on my spine, but about 2-3 inches away. When I point to where my abdomen sensation is AND my back sensation, my fingers are on the same line. Which makes me think that whatever I am feeling is felt from my front and my back. I don't feel like these are isolated things.

Avatar n tn m thinking you may have strained something in the very low lumbar area of your back, especially if you inadvertently rounded your back a little on the lift. I would try using NSAID's and heat, if it doesn't get better see a doctor, you may need an MRI. And I wouldn't try to build your glutes yet, because most of the glute specific exercises can also put pressure on the same area. Good luck and let us know!
Avatar n tn I used to go to the limit when it came to pushing my body when I was younger (16-22), and now at 25 I am starting to feel it. I feel it due to powerliftingin my right knee and lower back (deadlifts especially), and football/baseball, throwing shoulder.
436713 tn?1408884730 You very well could have some misplaced vertebrae in your back that is causing this pain, especially since you said you drew a line from your back to your tummy and it was directly in the same line. An x-ray that he/she will take will tell them exactly what needs to taken care of and after a few treatments, you should start feeling a lot better.
Avatar f tn m currently 34 weeks and still use 50lbs to do deadlifts and squats... Much lower than where I started but still heavy enough to be challenging at this stage!
Avatar m tn I trained with weights, often having up to 405lbs on my back for squats, and 495lbs for deadlifts.... I did have discomfort in my leg. After being released from prison.. I ran a half marathon, and soon after, a 12 mile obstacle course. Since the obstacle course I rarely worked out, and now not at all. I would love to jog again, but the discomfort in my leg is too great.. I am 28 years old and have been seriously considering having the rod removed...
590490 tn?1221727555 I'm 4 weeks pregnant, just found out yesterday, my son has had a 12 hour vomit bug but is fine now and my husband and I have woken thismorning with diarrhea. My lower back has been achey for a couple days, this is my 4th pregnancy and my very first was a M-C so I have 2 kids presently. I don't remember getting lower back ache with my 2 kids, not even with the m-c I had... could it be from picking up my son and straining my lower back or from the diarrhea or the pregnancy or all 3??
Avatar f tn Yes and the lower back pain is from the baby putting pressure on your back as well.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm 15 weeks on Tuesday, and last night I woke up with the worst lower back pain and it's been persistent all day. It's a nagging, painful, sore back ache that radiates from the middle of my lower back to the outsides of my hips. It reminds me of my period back cramps I used to get. I know my body is stretching and muscles are changing- but I'd just like to hear from someone else that's feeling the same.

1422848 tn?1282581099 About 2 years ago I broke my coccyx. Was perscribed Percocet for the pain, the pain never went away, got worse. I had several xrays that said it was healed. I didn't have health coverage until I got pregnant. Have talked with my dr's over the last couple years about it, and none have figured it out. My lower back/tailbone area is constantly in pain on the right side only. I get shooting pain from my lower back to my butt.

Avatar n tn I am a 40 year old female. I have constant lower back pain on my left side when I am sleeping, and am able to get temporary relief, sometimes, after I urinate. It is severe enough to interrupt my sleep and recently is causing me to have night sweats. I have a doctors appointment in a month, and the general belief is that I might have urine backing up into my kidney. I have had these symptoms for a while and have been told that I do not have an infection, or a stone.
210982 tn?1280983895 I am withdrawing from morphine and I have the worst lower back pain...tylenol does not even touch the pain...any suggestions? I am so uncomfortable right now...is there anything over the counter I can buy???
457721 tn?1256640798 For about the past two months I have had the most horrible lower back pain that I have had since my car accident. I have been unable to bend over and have had to squat at the knees just to pick my daughter up. This morning I was bending over to pick up a pile of laundry and I felt (and heard) a LARGE pop in my lower back. About 5 minutes later my back became very swollen and I am finding it painful just to walk now.
