663299 tn?1471101146 I had low thyroid symptoms and my family doctor said my thyroid was normal, despite the fact my hair was falling out, I felt exhausted, colder then everyone else, depressed, and irritable. I suffered for many years, then after much research I went and saw a bio-identical doctor. The bio-identical doctor said my thyroid was low and put me on desiccated thyroid and I am feeling much better. They have an optimal range for the thyroid levels.
Avatar n tn 61 year old female, 5ft, 107lb, with numerous low thyroid symptoms since 2000, including low body temperature, cold extremities, dry skin & hair, brittle nails, Constipation, rising cholesterol levels, etc. Current blood test 12/2008 was seen as normal with TSH = 3.187, Total T3 =128, Total T4 =8.3. Last symptom free year was 1999 when TSH=1.832. 2000 - 2008 has seen TSH rise from 1.9, 2.17, 2.6, 2.647, to 3.187, with increase in symptoms.
Avatar n tn RAI will cause a temporary worsening of thyroid eye symptoms when you carry the antibodies and usually more so in smokers! Thyroid eye disease is going to do what it wants to do, to anyone it wants, anytime it wants and as often as it wants, as long as a person has the antibodies and that is, thyroid eye antibodies. Taking prednisone might help temporarily alleviate the symptoms, but unfortunately does not derail the eye disease.
Avatar f tn I have been having classic hypothyroid symptoms... Low BBT of 97.4 throughout the day, constipation, lack of energy, leg rash, difficult periods, etc...,I am 44 and I am gluten intolerant. My doc did a TSH, it was 1.7. I had a panel run on my own which showed my TPO ab as 6, total T3 as 74 and my free T4 as 1.2. TPO is a little elevated as some ranges suggest that anything over 4 is symptomatic. The Total T3 is a little low.
Avatar f tn Yes. Taking too much levothyroxine for hypothyroidism can push you into hyperthyroidism. Some people mistakenly think that being hyperthyroid will give you lots of energy, when in fact the increased metabolism can make you very tired. A lot of people will lose weight being hyperthyroid, but there are many who gain weight instead, due to the increased appetite and tiredness. Are you taking only levothyroxine? That's a low TSH for someone not taking a T3 med, which suppresses TSH.
585708 tn?1247192813 I have had cold feet for three years, this went into my whole body about three months ago. I had an ultrasound that showed 4 small nodules and a little bit large. They say my thyroid blood work is on the high end of normal but because I have very low testosterone they are wanting for that to go up (with Andro-Gel but may switch to injectable) before they go for the thyroid, to see if there is a change with normal testosterone, In my opinion.
Avatar f tn If not on thyroid medication then you need additional testing to determine cause of the low TSH. If taking thyroid medication, that frequently will result in a suppressed TSH and is the basis for the following comments. When taking thyroid medication, a suppressed TSH does not automatically mean that you are hyper, unless you are experiencing hyper symptoms that are a result of excessive levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4.

Avatar m tn I got a call from my doctor today. I've been told, I have low thyroid and I would have to come into my GP's office. Is there some reason I need to see the Doctor AGAIN. Can't this medication just be phoned into the Rx? Should I get a referral to a specialist?
8101930 tn?1420001456 If on the correct dose, those symptoms should disappear. Low thyroid symptoms are things like depression, constipation, and fatigue. So maybe on the correct dose you'll feel just great! Just trying to give a bit of encouragement. Get a doctors apt and have this discussion in person, I think it will help u feel better about everything. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I have a TSH level just inside the low-normal range for my testing lab and a Free T4 level just below the low-normal range. I have ALL the symptoms of hypothyroidism....that is why I got tested. I'm menapausal and using bio-identical HRT. What could these test results indicate? What further testing might I need? Thank you so much for responding!
Avatar n tn At best it is an indicator to be considered along with more important indicators such as symptoms, and also levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4. Of these Free t3 is the most important because FT3 largely regulates metabolism and many other body functions. Scientific studies have also shown that FT3 correlated best with hypo symptoms, while FT4 and TSH did not correlate.
Avatar m tn I have had vit D , ferritin, and B12 done and was normal. I'm thinking of having my estrogen, progesterone checked. The symptoms mimic thyroid also. I'm 43 with night sweats off and on, and had low progesterone before but they never did anything.
Avatar f tn Other investigators were unable to find any correlation between serum thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) or serum free T4 and thyroid symptoms. The dosage of natural desiccated thyroid (NDT) has a correlation with 24 h urine T3 of R2 = 0.50. Conclusions: In this study symptoms of hypothyroidism correlate best with 24 h urine free T3. (Assumedly, serum free T3 would also correlate better with clinical status than serum free T4 or TSH".
Avatar n tn at /or below 30 you will feel the symptoms and your H and Hg can still be normal and your serum ferritin that low .......and there is research in other countries that show low serum ferritin causes depression ....ADHD .......and low thyroid problems ....heart palpitations and shortness of breath ..especially with exercise !!! .....America needs to take a good look at chronic low serum ferritin ......... Like a bad thyroid can have a 'normal TSH " and still be off on the T3 and T4 ...
1827985 tn?1320324225 Inadequate thyroid hormones will cause hypothyroid symptoms, with the severity being dependent on the relative levels of hormone. If you are still having hypo symptoms, it is likely that you are taking inadequate amount of thyroid med, or the wrong type of med. What thyroid med are you taking and what is the daily dosage?
Avatar n tn If the TSH is low, and I am currently taking thyroid and all my blood levesl are normal, t3 free 370, t4 free 1.3 and the totals are normal, is tha low TSH okay?
