Avatar m tn The interesting thing is the symptoms of Low T in women virtually match identically the low thyroid symptom list. So the difficulty is to convince the Dr. that her lasting symptoms may be low T and not Hypo thyroid is a touch argument to make. And there is no gurantee that it is not BOTH. All I know is that the tests show she is BELOW range. As you can see above they won't even list the amount. It simply says less than 0.20 which is the botom of the range.
Avatar m tn My question is I have been experiencing a tightness in my chest and low grade nausea for a couple of weeks. I am starting to worry that I have heart disease but not sure if it is just a result of stress. I don't have med insurance so I am not sure how to get this checked out but I am definitely concerned.
Avatar f tn The physician that Robin sees (and had on her show) said that she is seeing hormonal problems in young women and even 13 year olds ! You may want to consider searching online for a practitioner in your area who deals with bio-identical hormones. It is an outrage that you have abnormal lab results and yet these physicians are clueless and still think you need to be an adult for this to happen ! I hate to say it, but it seems to me that there is sexism in the medical field.
Avatar m tn If it is affecting your lifestyle it is suggested to decrease the frequency and avoid it if possible .Erectile dysfunction can be due to psychological and physiological causes both. In young patients psychological causes like lack of confidence, guilt, and anxiety are common possibilities. While in elderly patients physical factors predominate. It can be caused by certain medications, including drugs for high blood pressure and depression.
Avatar n tn You are young to have this. It's much more common in menopausal age women. The usual cause is low estrogen levels which cause vaginal walls to thin. What is your doctor's solution for this? Are they doing hormone checks on you to see if you are imbalanced? Do you have regular menstruation?
1081864 tn?1257519948 Also, DHEAS is another good test. Many women with PCOS also have an elevated prolactin level, and since you have thyroid issues, I would certainly want to check your level if you were my patient. One of the best medications for treating PCOS is oral contraceptives--these cause the body to produce a protein called sex hormone binding globulin which binds up and inactivates excess testosterone.
Avatar f tn Hi there. Well, this is a little too much info about me but -------- I also had a period of time that seemed like it was going to go on forever in which I had bacterial vaginosis. We finally treated my husband as well with the medication at the same time I took it. It seemed to eventually work. I also think that your description of moodiness and weight gain is something to think about too. Could you have a hormonal imbalance? I'd talk to your doctor about this.
Avatar f tn I think it would be worth talking to your doctor. You are young for the menopause, but some women do get it early.
Avatar f tn Has your doctor given you any medicine to help you to have a baby? I've had pcos since I was 20 and I know how you feel, but honestly you can't let this get you down. Are you on any medication to help with pcos? PCOS is not the end of the world, it's actually quite common in women to have this. As long as it is treated, many women go on to get pregnant and have healthy babies. Stay positive and follow up with your doctor to make sure it doesn't get worse.
Avatar f tn i am in my early 40s, male, and feel a bit too young to be having a physical condition like thyroid in addition to my other issues which require a couple psychotropics, i.e., i want to minimize my pill-taking! THANKS for your stats!
Avatar n tn What can cause such a sudden change? Although I feel as if I have a pill stuck in my throat, a sonogram showed no mass on my thyroid. Is that feeling normal? Should I settle so fast for this new condition that I may have to take medication for the rest of my life? I am going to see an endocrinologist but her waiting list is 3 months long. In the meantime, I would appreciate any insightful advice.
1145580 tn?1267508175 Don't ever give up hope! I had most of my thyroid removed in '98 and was told I was never having kids again (already had 2 from a prev marriage). Hubby and I decided to cross that bridge when we got there. We gave up on "not trying" and let nature run it's course. 18 months later, we got preggers with a girl. Sad part is, took over 4 years of trying to finally get #4 and she was a surprise as I only have 1 tube working.
Avatar f tn I have a friend that lives only a few minutes from me and they found a nodule in his right thyroid, he is 10 and it was cancer. We also have found out that 3 women in our church and that live in our area also have thyroid nodules (they are all under 40). None of these people had thyroid problems before and we all moved to this area 5 years ago. Do I need to worry that there is something in our environment that is causing these nodules. Two out of the five so far are cancerous.
8101930 tn?1420001456 Yeah my sister had low thyroid when she was pregnant too so I guess it runs in the family. They Say I can go off the meds couple months after I give birth if my thyroid is good so that makes me feel better too. It just got super crazy low from the pregnancy. . Babies do take lots from us though.
20801560 tn?1512718136 You say young women and children are the most prone to anemia, but all females become young women and all humans start out as children and very few develop anemia. Too much iron can lead to heart disease, especially in men. Poorly absorbed iron can lead to constipation. So again, I'm asking, what is it you're trying to say exactly?
Avatar f tn A had a friend on anti-depressants for six years before a nurse noticed her thyroid was enlarged. Also libido in women is one of those things that tends to disappear when there is stress or ill health.
350801 tn?1201924763 I was told by a pro that more women than men are in the new prescription junkie - they tend to see doctors earlier in life and more often. So they are prescribed more meds and earlier in life. So its more easy to develop a problem.
Avatar f tn My cortisol test was done early in the morning. I have been feeling tired, gaining weight, sleepy and weak all the time. My other test results for thyroid are FT3 1. 32 (3.95-6.8) FT4 0.91 (.89-1.76) TSH 4.94 (.27-4.2) The doctor said Ihave subclinical hypo. But my corsitol, progesterone and testosterone are also low. Should I have an ultrasound or just take the meds?
