Avatar m tn The interesting thing is the symptoms of Low T in women virtually match identically the low thyroid symptom list. So the difficulty is to convince the Dr. that her lasting symptoms may be low T and not Hypo thyroid is a touch argument to make. And there is no gurantee that it is not BOTH. All I know is that the tests show she is BELOW range. As you can see above they won't even list the amount. It simply says less than 0.20 which is the botom of the range.

Many women with PCOS also have an elevated prolactin level, and since you have thyroid issues, I would certainly want to check your level if you were my patient. One of the best medications for treating PCOS is oral contraceptives--these cause the body to produce a protein called sex hormone binding globulin which binds up and inactivates excess testosterone.
8101930 tn?1420001456 Yeah my sister had low thyroid when she was pregnant too so I guess it runs in the family. They Say I can go off the meds couple months after I give birth if my thyroid is good so that makes me feel better too. It just got super crazy low from the pregnancy. . Babies do take lots from us though.
Avatar n tn A slightly low TSH is commonly seen in the first trimester -- even in women not on thyroid medication. The research suggests that mild hyperthyroidism (ie low TSH) does not have an adverse effect on the baby, whereas mild hypothyroidism (not enought thyroid hormone) can result in problems. So in most cases, with the situation you describe, we do not make any change but follow the TSH and T4 levels every 4-6 weeks through pregnancy to make sure the medication dose is in the appropriate range.
Avatar f tn So I just got off the phone with my doctor and she said they see a lot of women with a low tsh in the first trimester due to increase nausea and vomiting from morning sickness. She said that she wad going to restest me tomorrow to see if it raises since I advised her my morning sickness has subsided a little but she is not worried.
Avatar f tn I am 19 weeks and today my doctor said my thyroid is low. I might have to get it removed. I did some research and I read it can be harmful for the baby. I'm really scared is there anyone who has had this before?
Avatar f tn What's considered normal range for non-pregnant women changes for pregnant women. I'm pretty sure that in the 1st & second trimester, your TSH should be well below 3.78. Best of luck to you.
Avatar f tn I have PCOS I tried Clomid more than 10 years ago didn't work it was my ex husband the problem in 2011 I found out I was pregnant I was in shock cuz I was dating a guy and I wasn't trying to get pregnant it just happened now I'm married my baby's dad n I'm trying Clomid again round 1
Avatar n tn Surgery is recommended in pregnant women who can't be regulated on medication or who have suspicious spots on their thyroid. RAI for Graves is not recommended for pregnant women, otherwise, the doc might have suggested that. The key is that after surgery, you will obviously become hypothyroid with no thyroid left. It is important to take adequate thyroid hormone, and to make sure your FT4/FT3 levels are up.
Avatar f tn This all seems to me to be onset by preganancy as at my last physical in Feb of this year, my non-pregnant levels were normal with TSH at 1.610 and Free T4 at 1.25. Could these levels just be thrown off by pregnancy hormones like HCG, etc.? Both of my doctors do not seem to be reacting to quickly to any of this. I am the one pushing to get some resolution on this and determine if I need to be concerned if these continued low TSH levels could affect the fetus negatively.
Avatar f tn showed that maternal treatment at a later stage in pregnancy is also beneficial for neonatal outcome. In this study, the offspring of women who had an ongoing increase in maternal serum fT4 from 12 to 32 weeks’ gestation showed neurodevelopment at one and two years of age that was not significantly different from that of controls.15 Other investigators have noted similar benefits with treatment of maternal hypothyroidism.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have this problem? The doctors said my thyroid is low and I'm going to get it tested again to see if its still low or not. Will this cause problems in my pregnancy?
Avatar n tn I am currently 15 weeks pregnant and I had blood drawn 4 weeks ago and it show a low tsh, .13 and all other levels were normal. I recently was tested again and my t4 is low, they didn't tell me the numbers. I have tried to get into a few endocrinologists but no one can fit me in. Everything I read online is scary about being pregnant and having thyroid problems.

Enjoy the fun of making a baby and remember it is not a job. Relax. Once you do that, I am sure you will get pregnant:-).
Avatar n tn Hi, I am 6 week 3 days pregnant and got my thyroid profile today. My FT3 and FT4 is normal but TSH is high. FT3 - 2.89 (adult range 2.5 - 3.9 pg/ml) FT4 - 0.82 (adult range 0.61 - 1.12 ng/dl) TSH - 3.94 (adult range 0.34 - 5.6, first trimester 0.1 - 2.5 uIU/ml) Please let me know if this is cause for concern and what I should do.
Avatar f tn I know how hard it is to stand on ur feet. Like with me my iron is low and I can't take the pills it makes me sick. But because of that I get dizzy and have passed out before while standing in line. I think other women might have the same problem so I let them in front of me. It's not special treatment its being thoughtful!
727499 tn?1239627655 Latest blood work up showed a low level of prolactin. I am not pregnant. My youngest is five - though I did have congestive heart failure 8 days after her birth. No definitive cause. Have never been quite the same since. But Really started to decline about two years ago. Strong history of Thyroid disease in my family, but my tsh levels are o.k. Avatar m tn I'm a tensed to be mom, I am in the 10th week of pregnancy n I started to take 50mcg levothyroxine for low thyroid at 9th week, is it late to start the meds and would it effect the baby's development. pls help me out .... i would be relieved to hear from someone who had no thyroid at all earlier and started taking meds at 10+ week of pregnancy and what was the result at end and their experience or any specialized person in the field....
Avatar f tn So my Dr called me today and said my blood work came back normal on everything except my thyroid hormone is low and ordered more detailed testing. Any other moms have this problem and what ended up happening? Could this be something that only happens during pregnancy like gestational diabetes and will go away after baby is born or is this lifelong? I'm so nervous!
Avatar f tn In 1994, a study in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism looked at pregnant women with thyroid antibodies and TSH in the normal range. The study found that women with autoimmune thyroid disease had TSH values significantly higher, though still normal, in the first trimester than in women with healthy pregnancies used as controls. The higher TSH level of the women with autoimmune thyroid disease? 1.6.
Avatar f tn They may also test your hormone levels, your thyroid, etc. Thyroid issues can make you miss periods too. I had this issue in my early 20's so it is not just something that happens when you are older. Start with your GP or OB/gyn who can draw blood for these simple tests.
