Avatar n tn A little while ago i had a nondiabetic doctor recommend a low carbohydrate diet to help keep my blood sugars low and when i mentioned it to my endocrinologist she said that that type of diet puts extra strain on the kidneys and since diabetics are already prone to kidney problems they should avoit it. i would recommend that at your next doctor appointment you ask to be referred to a dietician to go over the proper diet aspects for a diabetic.
Avatar n tn t have to stick with a single diet program. If you opt for high protein, whole grains, low/no fat dairy and lots of veggies, you should be fine. Watch portion sizes.
Avatar n tn It might help you lose weight, depending on how small the portions are, but it's not healthy... You aren't eating anything that has protein, at all and what you're eating has very few vitamins/minerals, like B-12, calcium, etc. You need to add some type of meat, dairy, eggs, beans, legumes or something with protein and since vitamin B-12 only comes from animal products you either need to supplement or add some of those animal products to your diet.
Avatar m tn try my suggestion above and try this eat 50 grams of carbs 150 grams of protein and about 150-200 grams of fat. your menu 3 egg cheese and mushroom omelet. lunch roast beef slices wrapped in colby cheese dinner baked salmon, broccoli with butter and a salad with dressing.
Avatar f tn 1) Yes, a breakfast cereal choice should be carefully selected to include an option that is rich in protein, and served with milk, which is also high in protein. Eggs are a good source of protein, but also contain cholesterol. Choosing a balanced diet is always a good option. 2. You cannot boost your immune system. The concept of doing so was fabricated by those who wish to sell you fad diets and (often useless) supplements.
Avatar n tn The candida diet is basically eating meats and vegetables that are low in carbohydrates or have a low glycemic index. You'll never go hungry, but the first week is definitely the hardest with cravings (for me, anyway). There are a number of variations, but that is the basic foundation. After you get past the first week, you can slowly add carbohydrates back into your diet. I always lose weight when I follow this diet too which is nice.
Avatar f tn Lean protein? = Chicken and veggies, protein supplements etc. I recommend starting a stronger vitamin supplement and start taking Probiotics, your body needs them in order to absorb nutrients, when taking probiotics get the ones that are kept in the fridge and not the ones on the shelf it makes an enourmous difference. Also to boost your immunity take Echinacea.
1399124 tn?1401020004 This is my second pregnancy with gestational diabetes. I am on a very strict diet that my local diabetes education class provided and monitor my sugar 4 times a day. I have just started on a medication at night. For some of us the further along you are the more insulin resistance you have.
Avatar f tn Can anyone direct me to a good website that will teach me how and what to eat. I am sure I am going to get a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes this week. My blood glucose this AM when I woke up was 200. It's been running about 125-130 all week. I also get some pretty low numbers during the day and start to feel weak and jittery. I'd just like to see what the diet looks like before I go in to see my doctor. Thanks.
377493 tn?1356502149 Nutrition is also important, and I want to be careful to combine the high calorie foods while still focusing on him having a balanced diet. I am looking for suggestions on age appropriate meals that take care of both. The sheet is not very informative. A lot of the information contained might be appropriate for an older child, but not a baby this young. Any menu ideas would be gratefully accepted. Thank you for your help.

Avatar f tn s nearly impossible with 2000 mg of sodium limit daily. I hit the protein shake w/ chick pea n hemp protein. The whey protein made me tired. Too much bad protein can bring on HE. You'll find your balance where you can feel good. Lots of protein bars and dry cereals have high protein and I consume a lot of those!
Avatar f tn I am wondering if my intake of protein is too low. I have always had normal to oily hair and it has suddenly become dry and frizzy. Has anyone else experienced this symptom after reducing meat intake?
1415174 tn?1453243103 I have been on a very low fat, whole plant based diet for the last 2 years. This is after much reading and now I can't go back to eating the fatty western diet. I don't even care for it. It is interesting how the taste buds change fairly quickly even after a long time of having a bad diet. There is so much literature out there that shows how bad it is to eat a high fat diet and too much meat. Yet a lot of people are on the Paleo diet including some friends. It is very acidic.
Avatar f tn For those of you who have been through a total thyroidectomy, I know that you fast from midnight on, and then they said it's a liquid diet the next day. I am prediabetic and have reactive hypoglycemia, and it's bad so I need to eat every 2 hrs. or so. (very difficult for me to fast) I don't eat any sugar or artificial sweetners. I have some low glycemic fruit, but fruit juices are too full of sugar. What type of liquids do they give you?

Avatar f tn Right now its solely by diet, and it stays fine if I eat just meat with a tiny amount of veggies or bread, I can eat a little nuts and berries, but not enough to feel full or satisfied most times.

Avatar m tn You were at your body weight for your height and now you have lost approximately 6kg (13 lbs). For your age you should be consuming 2000-2200 calories per day. Suggest eating yogurt, or drinking milk with the fruit at night so you have a protein source in the meal. You need to increase the food you are eating at breakfast and lunch. Try snacking between meals and especially around dinner time at work so you get more calories in, too.
