317787 tn?1473358451 And usually estrogen dominance is really more of a case of low Progesterone. Estrogen dominance from what I understand can more frequently happen as approaching or post menopause. With her age of about 50 she would definately be in the zone nearing menopause. As barb stated. It may make sense to have all her sex hormones tested to see about the balance of progesterone and Estrogen as well as testosterone. Just something to consider.
Avatar f tn High levels of estrogen cause unexplained weight gain and feeling fatigued or lethargic. Low thyroid hormone is a consideration since there is family history of thyroid disease but high estrogen is a more likely cause in my opinion. A good article on high estrogen is "High Estrogen Overload Symptoms. Dangers Every Woman Should Be Aware Of" from the Healthy You Naturally website. An excerpt....
Avatar f tn Higher doses of estrogen in birth control pills is known to cause weight gain in women due to fluid retention. Get your estrogen levels checked. For weight loss, apart from diet control, indulge in physical exercise daily for which you can even join a gym. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
138239 tn?1239924924 my blood work showed my DHEA 78 & normal is between 102-1185, when asked doctor about this she didn't know why, thought there was a supplement for this. Feel that there is really something wrong with my adrenal glands.they have tested me for Cushings (negative), scooped me from 1 end and the other.

Avatar f tn I have a ton of info on the bioidentical hormones (I just did a check on Enjuvia and from what I can tell, it is a conjugated synthetic estrogen in a pill form). I also have some more recent posts on the weight gain issue, which I have done a ton of research on myself. I am not almost 9 years post surgical menopause (ovaries removed along with everything else).
Avatar f tn I say this because it typically is the Lack of Estrogen that will cause weight gain and not the abundance. On the other hand, since you are also taking progesterone, you may have been out of balance between the two hormones. My other thought is that you may be the type of person who does really well on progesterone without added Estrogen, although the more I research recent studies on this, those people are few and far between.
Avatar f tn Does everyone gain weight with Hashimotos and hypothyroid. It is so depressing. I am thinking on going on WW or Nutrisystem, but will I lose weight if my thyroid is still screwed up? I have low motility too when it comes to digestion too. Took the sitz test and an average person can poop out the beads in 2 days and it took 7 for me. What have other done? I am frustrated!
Avatar f tn so can anybody tell me if it is common to gain weight after hysterectomy or is that just depending on the medicine you're given for hormones
Avatar f tn Burning mouth can be a symptom of low estrogen. Are you saying estrogen makes your burning mouth worse?
Avatar m tn I have had a full hysterctomy in February. I am experiencing mood swings and weight gain and raised temperature. Is there a way to control these symptoms?
1416408 tn?1282230588 Some people do gain weight, while others do not. If you find yourself gaining weight, bring it to the doctors attention as there are a variety of pills to choose from. But not taking it, will cause a big weight gain and a permanent change in your future plans.
Avatar f tn I have been really fatigue, short of breath and having heart palps. I had started using some Bio Identical Estrogen (BiEst) at a very low dose but I really do not feel great. Have a lot of hot flashes and overall do not feel good. Does anyone have any input regarding BiEst and my symptoms. Is not having estrogen bad? They tell me it is.
Avatar f tn Why would you be given estrogen with elevated estrogen? My reasons for weight gain/difficulty losing weight were severe insulin resistance and untreated hypothyroidism. My hip to waist ratio was 0.96 due to insulin resistance.
Avatar n tn hormones, but feel that I never responded properly to them. Never lost night sweats, poor sleep, weight gain, low energy. Have had thyroid removed completely and am followed carefully by endocrinologist. Will have gyn. repeat hormone panel before I do anything. Awaiting results of pelvic MRI to see WHATS bleeding, fibroids or uterus. Gyn says the result (hystectomy) will be the same. Says that the surgery to remove fibroids is much more involved than doing the hysterectomy ?
Avatar f tn A lot of weight?

Avatar m tn i've read that low testosterone diminishes your sex drive. is this true? i am a 50yr old male...... i'm having trouble getting and maintaining an erection, BUT i am always ready for sex..very horny all the time... i know there are other reasons for my ed, but can low testosterone be one of the reasons, even though i am always in the mood???
Avatar f tn d suggest that if your weight is lower than healthy then weight gain might stable out your emotions. However, I understand if this is not possible as weight gain can be hard for metabolic reasons etc. Again, I think seeing a doctor would be the best opinion, emotions can change for a whole host of reasons they're not always hormone related so it's best to be sure before making any changes. Hope you feel better soon!
Avatar n tn Of you are eating healthy and baby is still measuring right, then there is no need to worry about weight gain. I gained 30+ with my first and this time I am 28 weeks and have only gain 6 lbs. My baby is measuring 5 days ahead. You don't necessarily have to have weight gain for a healthy pregnancy. If you are feeling that something really isn't right tho, talk to your doctor about your weight.
135864 tn?1221078029 Blood tests show im on the low-side...But I am completely unable to gain weight and I eat alot of food. What is going on with me. I had estrogen dominance and I get inflamation at certain times....
Avatar f tn What measures should I do to have the proper BMI and gain weight....do protein weight gainers help me to combat this issue??
Avatar n tn Also from my doctor, I learned that one can be both estrogen deficient and estrogen dominant at the same time if progesterone and estrogen are low, and due to our exposure to estrogens & phyto estrogens in environment and foods. So alot of balancing is required and diary your symptoms for your doctor, and balancing your doses of the creams based on your symptoms, always start low and work up, also know that with estrogen, the symptoms of too much and not enough, are the same.
