low estradiol and infertility

I had a CCT and had slightly unfavorable results (Day 3 FSH 9.6, Estradiol 72, Day 10 FSH 16.1, Estradiol 482). We are planning to start IVF this cycle. During my baseline today, I had only 5 total antral follicles, and my ovary size was smallish. I am extremely discouraged. I started Acupuncture 3 weeks ago, and wish I had started sooner. Can in still help me conceive or have a successful IVF cycle with these results? Thanks!!

She recently saw her endocrinologist and was informed that her FSH and Estrodiol levels were extremely loW, her cortisol levels are normal. He did an MRI of the pituitary and found nothing and now wants her to go to her gyno because he can't seem to figure it out. Hi Everyone - finally had my consult with the OB yesterday after my month long hormonal profile! He concluded that I have some form of ovarian dysfunction (NOT infertility), due to my late ovulation, long cycles and lacking CM. He also said that my hormone levels look great (meaning there isn't anything chemically going on) EXCEPT for my DHEA levels. He said that those were a little low at 95; he'd like to see them in the 200's.

I have to guess at what your doctor is thinking, but to me it sounds like he wants to do a day 3 FSH and estradiol level, and yes, I suspect he is trying to rule out premature ovarian failure. It is possible that your ovaries were damaged by the endometriosis surgery. Has anyone considered Metformin for you? Just an aside.

Now I am preg again and on low dose asprin to thin blood. Advice is to be proactive and if your specialists won't do the tests go to GP and insist, even if u have to pay extra, for peace of mind it is worth it. Good luck.

docsaf--you mentioned your estrogen was low. What is considered low? Is estrodial the same as estrogen? My day-3 estrodial dropped from 62 in Dec to 25 in April and 23 in May. My dr said it was "fine," that he wanted the day 3 estrodial to be low and he didn't know why it would have dropped (my first test was w/ another RE). But it seems strange to me. Was it your day 3 levels that were low or a different level?

I recently went through my lab results from September and see my Estradiol is <5.00 pg/mL. I am also on Lo Loestrin. Can the birth control be causing the very low numbers, my PCOS, something else? if prolactin and thyroid levels are normal and you still have not conceived, best do an evaluation for other causes of infertility, including a semen analysis, HSG to check fallopian tubes and uterus, and FSH and estradiol levels to evaluation ovarian reserve (how many eggs you have left). if all this is normal, and you still are not getting pregnant, seek treatment for unexplained infertility, with clomid and iui's or FSH and iui's. good luck and don't give up hope.

I am taking Crinone gel for infertility, have been taking for 4 months days 17- end of cycle. I am also taking clomid and estradiol. I am currently on day 23 (7th day on crinone) of my cycle and have started having so very mild almost pinching cramps intermittently. They are not painful, but I was just wondering if anyone else has cramping with crinone, I am still about 8 days away from when I am supposed to start my period.

I wonder if you have seen an infertility specialist. They are called a Reproductive Endcrinology and Infertility specialist. The inital work up should include cycle day 3 FSH, LH, Estradiol, Prolactin, TSH, midluteal phase Progesterone level; semen analysis of your husband; a hysterosalpingogram (HSG); and a pelvic ultrasound preferably on cycle day 3 to look at your ovaries and do an antral follicle count. If you have not seen a REI specialist, I suggest that you make an appointment.

I recently took some blood tests which show normal levels of IGF-1, Prolactin, Testosterone, Estradiol, but low levels of Luteinizing Hormone and low levels of Follicule Stimulating Hormone. Does this indicate anything?

My reproductive endo says I am low in estrogen (I am 32) so I am contemplating some sort of hormone replacement therapy (Vivelle-dot and prometrium).
