Avatar f tn Bob, Thanks for your explanation. The reason I asked if anyone knew I was told my a friend that all people with ms have low norepinephrine levels. I can't find anything thst says that. Besides ms I have autonomic dysfunction and my body dumps large amts if adrenaline at inappropriate times which causes havoc to say the least. I had my levels checked years ago and don't remember what the norepi was.
Avatar n tn I have test results showing my dopamine level as low along with epinephrine, norepinephrine, glycine and taurine. What do you suggest as far as supplements?
1817071 tn?1366228243 I had a tooth pulled, they used epinephrine. I was in afib with low rate for 8 days. Then afib every 2-3 day. I was given Rythmol as PIP. I gradually have had less afib, but, each one has 100 for rate...I called dr. and asked him what to do....he said I needed ablation and bp monitors were not accurate. I got a new dr. and new dr. did not say anything about the lowered rate. I go to new EP next week. I will ask him.
4703993 tn?1379768388 During spontaneous loss of consciousness, all 4 patients had an increase in plasma epinephrine levels (mean 3.8 times baseline), and no change or a decrease in plasma norepinephrine levels (mean 0.86 times baseline), so that the plasma epinephrine:norepinephrine ratio increased substantially (5.3 times baseline).
Avatar m tn On my labs, however, I had low vitamin d-25 and low serum phosphate (2.0 mg/dl). My doctor gave me vitamin d supplements and then I started taking 2,000 IU per day. Recently, I had another blood test and my serum phosphate had dropped to 1.6 mg/dl with normal being 2.5 mg/dl - 5 mg/dl for the lab that did the test. Is this something I should be concerned about and pursue with the doctor or is this normal?
Avatar m tn Hi, It is a serotonin and nor epinephrine reuptake inhibitor. The name of the neurotransmitter is nor epinephrine it is different from epinephrine. Most of the side effects occur during the period when one is taking the medication. But the important thing to remember is to follow the doctors instructions carefully. To reduce the incidence of side effects it is always started with a low dose and then it is gradually increased.
710547 tn?1295446030 And how many have low neurotransmitters (serotonin, epinephrine, norepinephrine, Dopamine) These when low indicate or lead to low immune system. Since ms is more common in the higher latitudes, vit D is harder to get and it is associated with greater incidence. I have very low D and low Serotonin. I'm trying to work on some supplementation I can use to help myself other than the DMDs. Thanks for your input.
Avatar f tn Wellbutrin will not be effective for anxiety because it increases your catecholamine levels (dopamine, epinephrine, and norepinephrine) which are all excitatory neurotransmitters. Wellbutrin is usually prescribed for lethargic depression, which is not necessarily a sad or agitated depression, but a flat, a motivated, fatigued, low energy, and an overall feeling of the living dead.
1563026 tn?1295031701 So once person is off ssri, their serotonin levels are low and can't get back to the way they were before taking ssri? And what is considered long term ssri usage?
225237 tn?1333138999 Sounds very much like a hypoglycemic episode, it is possible that your hormones as causing a release of circulating epinephrine that increases the half life of insulin causing your blood sugar levels to drop (reactive-hypoglycemia). Try drinking some fruit juice, eating a popsicle, or adding 1-2 tlbs of plain sugar to a glass of water and drinking that when you experience these symptoms.
728243 tn?1258383456 If so, did your doctor draw blood and test these levels during a tilt? That can be very informative. If it helps at all, my levels were, pre-tilt: Dopamine - less than 20, Epinephrine - 25, Norepinephrine - 316; during tilt: Dopamine - less than 20, Epinephrine - less than 10, Norepinephrine - 258. These were all normal, and also showed that my syncope was not at all related to anxiety or other chemical imbalance, because the amounts were normal and actually went down during tilt.
Avatar f tn Have you had your thyroid and those adrenal hormones: epinephrine, norepinephrine, metanephrine and normetanephrine levels checked? Do you have any additional symptoms that you think might be unrelated to menopause, such as shortness of breath with exertion?
Avatar f tn I have to go have a tooth filled tomorrow and I'm somewhat apprehensive about the anesthetic. I know most often the ones they use contain epinephrine because it's a vasoconstricter and causes the anesthesia to work longer. I know you can request the anesthetic without the epi but then it wears off quickly (like when they are drilling on your tooth). I asked my cardiologist and he said if I didn't get a big dose of the epi, if it was mixed, with the beta blockers I should be ok.
Avatar f tn I had to get stitches last night, and was given 5-6 shots of epinephrine and lidocane. I told the intake nurse I was taking synthroid (which I presume implies thyroid problems). I felt a little "unusual" afterward (pounding heart, feeling calm and detached..), and was googling the side effects of the shot.. an article said this: "Additionally, epinephrine and lidocaine usually aren’t used in patients with thyroid disease, or disease of the kidneys or liver.
807506 tn?1248649733 Can dopamine or steriod levels be tested for example. I have narcolepsy with cataplexy but I think there is somethin else wrong. Avatar n tn s but my most resent blood test WBC is 13.
Avatar f tn I heard this also can be contributed to low adrenals. can anyone tell me what the low epinephrine means on the test? dr takes forever to get back to you.
Avatar n tn I believe you asked about HYPOglycemia: The symptoms are vary varied and might include dizziness, feeling generally out of it, fatigue, irritability, disorientation, tingling. Testing is the key as if your numbers have been high for awhile you will feel low even if you're not. You should treat any lows below 60 (some treat below 70) with a couple glucose tablets. You will learn the correct number for you.
770296 tn?1244385841 This test is used to detect pheochromocytoma, a tumor of the adrenal medulla that secretes excess cathecholamines, epinephrine and norepinephrine, Catecholamines are a group of similar hormones produced in the adrenal medulla, the interior portion of the adrenal glands. Adrenal glands are small, triangular organs located on top of each kidney. The primary catecholamines are dopamine, epinephrine (adrenaline), and norepinephrine.
Avatar n tn I had a 2nd trimester miscarriage the day that I had a mole removed at my dermatologist. They used Epinephrine and Xylocaine and when we received the autopsy report it revealed that my baby was perfectly normal and healthy without chromosonal issues prior to him dieing in my womb that day. Has anyone experienced this or known anyone who has? I researched on the web and found many warnings about pregnant women receiving Lidocaine from the dentist but not what they gave me.
Avatar f tn Hi. Wellbutrin (Bupropion) can best be described as an atypical anti-depressant. And it is a stimulant as well. It works on the Dopamine system, unlike other anti-depressants, which primarily work on the Nor-epinephrine and/or Serotonin systems. That's why the word, 'atypical'. Dopamine is an excitatory neurotransmitter (a stimulant).
Avatar f tn It makes a lot of sense to question whether to wait until he's done the test before taking a medication that blocks the action of epinephrine (metanephrine is the inactive metabolite of epinephrine, I believe what's left after the epinephrine is spent, and normetanephrine, the inactive metabolite of norepinephrine, which they also measure).
Avatar f tn So far I always got eye drops without epinephrine/or something equal to epinephrine, but this last eye doctor did not want to use any drops at all. He examined my eyes without dialating them.
Avatar n tn low in seratonin, GABA and epinephrine; high in histamines, agmatine and norepinephrine. I have had cysts in many parts of my body, cyst removed from my ear lobe, my back; I have a fibroid on my uterus and a cyst on each ovary; currently have a ganglion cyst on my left wrist in addition to the thyroid cysts and nodule.
