Low carb high protein yogurt

Common Questions and Answers about Low carb high protein yogurt

protein

Avatar n tn Sounds like you may be eating low carb and high protein, which is a mistake and can cause a surge of blood sugar via a process called gluconeogenesis.. This is a process of your body creating sugar from the protein you ingest. It happens when you eat very high protein with little fat and low carb. Try to not go over 1 gram protein per pound of lean body mass. For example, a person who weighs 150 lbs should limit to 150 grams protein per day.
Avatar f tn What should I eat for breakfast that is low carb but high protein, for weight loss
Avatar f tn t be afraid to eat fats. People who eat low carb with ultra high protein and low fat run into the gluconeogenesis problem, which is your body taking some of the ultra high protein intake and making sugar (glucose). This is why some people get high blood sugar and heart racing after drinking a large protein shake (with low carb and no fat). Eat fat with your proteins, like full fat yogurt.
Avatar f tn I dont remember what the body needs for protein but excess is converted to BG the typical BG controlling diet is LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) not high protein.
594189 tn?1386916607 Dairy is generally considered a protein but also contains a lot of calcium, so yes, opt for the low/no fat varieties of milk, yogurt, cheese, etc.
1301482 tn?1325722991 Who has done a low carb diet that worked well? Can you give me any tips for low carb snacks/meals?
Avatar n tn So, how do we avoid insulinogenic effect of high protein, and how to not promote gluconeogenesis? The best diet for this is LCHF. This means low carb, moderate protein and high fat. We should be eating between 0.5 to 1 gram protein per pound of lean body mass. A less active person closer to 0.5 and more active person closer to 1. In other words, if a person weighs 150 pounds, and if they are an active person, they should eat about 150 grams protein per day.
Avatar m tn Dr. W. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "fat and happy." Well, it's not just folklore. The same carbs that make you fat (and contribute to diabetes and other problems) also make you happy. It's simple science: Carbs allow more of the amino acid L-tryptophan to penetrate your brain. The L-tryptophan triggers your brain to make more serotonin, and the serotonin makes you feel happier. It's as simple as that!
Avatar f tn Consume high-potassium foods such as fruits (specifically, avocados, apricots, bananas, dates, nectarines, oranges, raisins), vegetables (specifically artichokes, parsnips, spinach, tomatoes, yams), whole grains, molasses, clams, cod, halibut, yogurt, and nuts. Low potassium can lead to problems with your muscles and heart. Too much potassium can lead to irregular heartbeats. Too much magnesium, on the other hand, will give you loose bowels.
Avatar f tn High protein and high fat. Low carb. And whole grain. Try Ezekiel breads. Stay away from white bleached flour. Eggs are great. Red skin potatoes are good too.
Avatar n tn You could blitz soft fruit with yogurt, that way you get all the fibre as well as the juice and protein from the yogurt. You can buy zero fat natural yogurt and the Greek style ones are great. If you juice your veg, by extracting the juice and throwing away the fibre, that is not good. Better to blitz the whole carrot, or better still make soup and add some lentils, all sorts of veg and bits of lean chicken or lean spare ribs. Yummy.
Avatar m tn Kind of a bummer if someone goes intentionally low carb to control their blood sugar. Better to have a low carb, moderate protein and high fat meal (like non starchy veg sautéed in butter with steak), as this fills you up cancelling hunger quickly, while delivering great nutrition without blood sugar spikes.
Avatar f tn Apples with peanut butter, yogurt, oatmeal, whole grain pasta, baked chicken with veggies, granola bars, fiber bars, salads with diced chicken.
1533382 tn?1357962152 I'm 31weeks 3 days pregnant and last week I found out I have gestational diabetes. I've been on a 'carb counting' diet ever since and have to check my sugar levels 4 times a day keeping it in a certain range. I've noticed over my week of this diet that anything that's actually a full meal, be it mostly protein and no carbs or under my carb limits spikes my levels.
Avatar f tn Food, in other words, is way more complex than any diet recognizes but if you want to do low carb eat high protein foods. These would include, again, nuts, seeds, legumes, and animal foods.
Tbd 2. Very low fat, adequate protein, high carb. This is the plant based and even vegan diet that some are promoting. This diet does not have processed foods. The diet that absolutely does not work is a diet that is high in both carbs and fats. For me, considering that diabetes is an inability of the body to properly process glucose I choose low carb / ketogenic diet. This diet is fairly easy to follow. No grains, no sugars, no starchy vegetables.

You will be amazed at how elimination of grains from your diet will help reduce inflammation, which leads to the pain and mobility issues you are experiencing. Try it for one week...you will be amazed at results. Good luck.
Avatar f tn initially starting on low carb high protein diet; while the required calorie intake is always maintained. The last phase consists of intense work-out schedule and hence the calorie requirement rises and needs to be substituted with a high calorie/ carbohydrate intake (athletes diet), to provide the energy. If you are able to keep up with the work out schedule, you may take on the diet as well, since this would be required. However otherwise you may have to limit the carbohydrate intake.
Avatar f tn It is quite opposite to the establishment high carb low fat diet. This diet needs to be high fat, moderate protein and low carb. Essentially the carbs are replaced mostly with fats, and with some additional protein.
