lovenox use during pregnancy

I've used lovenox with my last pregnancy and with this pregnancy due to a blood clotting disorder. Lovenox is perfectly safe. does not cross the placenta but thins the blood just enough and very evenly to prevent blood clots. there are no side effects except maybe I bruised slightly easier.

I was recently diagnosed with a Pulmonary Embolism after being rushed into L&D unable to breathe. I was prescribed Lovenox by injection twice daily. The prescribing DR knows I'm now 34 weeks pregnant, but when I read the drug disclosure inside the box it states clearly NOT TO BE USED DURING PREGNANCY, CAN CAUSE GASPING SYNDROME & FETAL DEATH.

Has anybody used the blood thinner lovenox? My doctor put me on it for the whole pregnancy. I just forbid out I was carrying 4 days ago. I'm very nervous because I've had 3 miscarriages before this.

Well I also took Lovenox during my last pregnancy and it is really a give and take situation. I hated taking the shots and had bruises every time I had to give myself a shot and it totally hurt but I have a clotting disorder and doctors thought it was best for me to take it just in case. I think that wouldn't it be better to be safe than sorry?

I am not an OB nurse and I am curious why your are taking lovenox during your pregnancy, do you have a previous clotting issue with your pregnancies? I am just asking because I am wondering if i am going to have to be on lovenox because of my clotting history when i become pregnant?

I didn't know there were other moms like me, in the sense of having to take the lovenox shots. I just thought it wasn't very common. Well I'm 18 wks this is my third but the first pregnancy I've had to use blood thinner due to clots in my lungs and my leg calf. However, Dr hasn't planned for delivery yet. He did mention it was just as a precaution and if nothing developed thru the pregnancy my delivery could be as my other two.

I was also on low dose aspirin during my pregnancy, am 3 weeks pp now with a perfectly healthy girl.

HI, I can't speak to the overarching issue...that is something for a doc to discuss w/ you certainly. However, I had a very large DVT that stretched from my groin to my knee in my last pregnancy (he's 6.5 now) and am pregnant again. You won't likely be on Coumadin during pregnancy (I'm guessing) but they'll switch you to Heparin or Lovenox (I'm on Lovenox).

I think your doctor wanted you to have enough Thyroid Hormon since your test results were at lower end of normal range. I have Thyroid problem and need to take 150mg Synthoid during my pregnancy. Synthoid is safe to take during the pregnancy. Don't worry and good luck with your pregnancy.

Anyone taking Lovenox? Im 9 weeks and between the lovenox and the prenat vit I feel groggy all the time..just wondering if lovenox makes you feel bad..

I've had to take Lovenox injections during both my pregnancies. It's usually just injected abdominaly and you alternate sides for every dose. I had a scheduled induction with my first and they had me stop the Lovenox 2 days before to avoid any excessive bleeding. We will have a scheduled induction again with this one. However I'm on a lower dose than you are and my clotting issue is estrogen related... I only need to take the injections for 6 weeks after the baby is born.

Lovenox safety in pregnancy is a question that is best answered by your obstetrician or by a high risk maternal fetal medicine subspecialist. I personally do not believe the low positive cardiolipin titers were related to infertility; the relationship is with recurrent pregnancy loss. I too respect your RE' reasoning for initiating lovenox, but would not have done so myself - a matter of opinion and my interpretation of the research and evidence available.

Is it safe to use Lovenox and Ibuprofen at the same time? What kind of side effects should I expect if I do so? (I do not experience any pain). 2. Shall I be concerned about permanent implications (ie to kidney, liver etc) of using blood thinner? 3. After 10 days (when I stop the Lovenox), will I need a blood test? 4. How long would it normally take for such an injury to heal?

I just had a miscarriage on July 30th and I was 23 1/2 weeks pregnant. I was put on Lovenox and a baby aspirin 2 weeks prior to miscarrying. The Doctor seems to think that when we get pregnant again that I can get on Lovenox and baby aspirin when i'm 7 weeks pregnant and that the pregnancy will be a healthy succuessful one. I'm just wondering has anyone else had a successful pregnancy taking Lovenox? Just really nervous and have alot of questions now.

just out of curiosity.... anyone use Lovenox with their ivf/fet cycle? And if so, when did you start the injections? My ER wants me to start the injections around O date (we are doing FET cycle). My question is.... wouldn't it be better to start sooner??? Wouldn't blood clots have already formed in the uterine lining by then? Or does the lining start to grow around O date? (I know I know... you would think I would know that part being a 4th time IVF/FET patient...

hydrated all day sunday until I start to get concerned. I was concerned b/c blood clots run in my family especially during pregnancy so to be on the safe side i went to the ER. The doc said that he suspected blood clots and that he was going to give me an injection of Lovenox and anticoagulant and have me go to the vasuclar lab this morning for a work up. the leg pain is horrible its so hard to walk and with being an OR nurse it's impossible to work.

Do you think your children have ADHD or any other abnormalities? I have been reading alot about it and some women claim that while being on Lovenox during pregnany has cause other issues with their children who are now 4 and older.

Of course, I will never know whether the reason this pregnancy continued was due to the Lovenox or just a conicidence...but I was not taking any chances this time, and I'm glad I didn't. Did they tell you what blood clotting disorder you tested positive for?

I only have one gene positive and also will be on heparin during pregnancy. I had the third IVF last year and was taking the heparin but m/c. So i don't know if that gene it has to do anything with the m/c. Every doctor is different in the opinion for the MTHFR.

During the first few weeks of pregnancy has anyone experiecnced nosebleeds? I've been reading about it but never heard of this happening before I looked it up. It doesn't seem like a common symptom. I'm only about 7 weeks and this past week I've had a few nosebleeds, I've never had them before. I'm hoping it's normal and will stop soon. Any advice???

I can't remember who asked me this question, but I now have the answer.... I just got back from my high-risk OB appt and they have switched me to Heparin (Low-Molecular Weight, I believe) because it IS reversible should I go into labor unexpectadly, whereas Lovenox is not. I can't remember the reversal med, but it exists so that should I require an emergency c-section, they would give me this shot and send me on my way.
