lovenox in the arm

my son has been battleling testicular/germcell cancer and has recently started with pain and knumbness in left arm and dizziness and lightheadedness. He also has slight discomfort in his stomach. A month ago he was up at the mayo hospital in scottsdale,az for a lymphnode disection in his stomach. I am wondering what could be causing this. He was put on a months worth of lovenox shots. He will be finashed with them on tuesday.

1) Have you ever heard of lovenox injections to prevent further clots in stents and 2) what are the risks from lovenox to her relatively healthy kidneys (after 30+ yrs of diabetes)? Thank you for your good advice. You were the only Dr. who said E.R.

I'm really sorry for your loss. Does the dr think you have a blood clotting issue that contributed to the loss? Lovenox is typically used when women have blood clotting antibodies or gene mutations that potentially cause blood clotting such as MTHFR. Also, if you do have these issues, wouldn't you start the lovenox and aspirin while trying to conceive so you don't potentially lose the baby before 7 weeks?

Hello, Don't let his leg get worse, he can have damage to his leg. Your husband should got to a vascular surgeon immediately who will properly monitor the clot, if he hasn't done that. That is what I did and the first thing my Dr. did was to do an ultrasound to see where the clot was & if it had travelled- he did both legs and arms. In the hospital they wouldn't do another us and said I wouldn't need one done for 6 months but this was a mistake.

That combined with the info in the leaflet saying what can happen to the baby has had me up at night with horrifying nightmares. I've found they sting a lil unless I have a dull needle which apparently happens frequently in large lot purchases, in which case it hurts like H E L L cuz u don't know until it's too late. If you don't mind me asking what is your routine when taking them?

t think of a clot. Anyway, I am resting comfortably in the hospital, started on Coumadin and having to do lovenox injections until my clotting is stable. For once I would be much happier if this was due to my MS. Doctor says I isn't go home tomorrow, but could be longer. We'll see.... I will be scarce for a while.

He has been on a cardiac monitor for 3 days at home now, and the have called us everyday to take to the ER for rapid PR in excess of 210 bpm. Any suggestion's would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone taking Lovenox? Im 9 weeks and between the lovenox and the prenat vit I feel groggy all the time..just wondering if lovenox makes you feel bad..

It has never converted for one minute since the flutter has started. Then I take shots of Lovenox two days before and 2 to 3 days afterwards the ablation. Is this what others have done? I am really scared having gone on this long, as the bottom part of my heart is just scar tissue from previous ht. attacks. Just want to get it over with. Anyone? Please let me know about the Protime and Lovenox bit, as it worries me! Thanks everyone!

As a former Lovenox pt, and a nurse, I feel I need to add to this. As scary as it may sound, the air bubble is important in the Lovenox injection. As well as risking losing a small amount of the medication, by flicking the air bubble out you are removing the mechanism that is designed to "lock" the medication in place. I dont know if anyone has ever noticed a small amount of fluid come out of the injection site after taking the needle out?

I was on lovenox mine didn't burn but the doctor told me to ice the injection site first then it wouldn't be as bad......I'm almost 39 weeks and they switched me over to heparin at 38 weeks..........I'm going to the hospital Thursday the 5th to get induced......

Yet, this is the only pregnancy that continued past the first trimester and this time I was on Lovenox from day 1. The last two times, they wanted to wait and see a heartbeat before starting the blood thinners.

Also, if you have a clotting disorder, the clots would pose more harm to the fetus than Lovenox would.....You need to have sufficient blood flow to the placenta in order to support a pregnancy.

I know your worried about passing on your blood clotting disorder but honestly you cannot prevent this. It's great that you are aware of it so that you can notify their doctors and it can be a part of their permanent medical record. It's valuable information you have for their care in the future. I have a suggestion for you. Get one of those bracelets made up with the disorder written on it and in case of an emergency everyone will know to take added precautions.

Has anybody used the blood thinner lovenox? My doctor put me on it for the whole pregnancy. I just forbid out I was carrying 4 days ago. I'm very nervous because I've had 3 miscarriages before this.

Any one out there feel differently? I am thinking of requesting Lovenox in addition to aspirin for next round. Any benefits or harm? How do you all feel? Thanks!

I actually did have two more clots that showed up after I was on warfarin for the first dvt in my leg. when I got out of the hospital, I first had pain/swelling in my arm, ultrasound confirmed a superficial clot there which was caused by 3 attempts to place a new iv in my arm while I was in the icu in dka. The clot oddly didn't show up until I did some exercise. Then a week later I had pain in the other leg, swelling and swelling in the ankle.

t think clotting in the lining itself is the issue. I think the problem is when a clot forms in the blood supply to the embryo. So, in my opinion, starting Lovenox at ovulation should be just fine :-) Best of luck with your IVF!

ve used lovenox with my last pregnancy and with this pregnancy due to a blood clotting disorder. Lovenox is perfectly safe. does not cross the placenta but thins the blood just enough and very evenly to prevent blood clots. there are no side effects except maybe I bruised slightly easier.

t risk using it a year or more later, though, because of the potential consequences. The purpose of the lovenox is to prevent blood clots, and if you were to get a blood clot because of bad lovenox, that would be serious, and it wouldn't have been worth it to save the money. I have discarded some expired syringes of Arixtra, which is a similar but more expensive product, for that reason. So if you're going to use this expired lovenox, do it now, would be my advice. Well I JUST picked up my Heparin Rx yesterday. I did hear about a recall eons ago (well eons in pregnancy speak) and it was certain batches but I hadn't heard that about Heparin now. Yikes...will need to investigate. Lovenox, from what I understand, is perfectly safe and fine and is a newer medicine than Heparin. The issue is that when you get closer to c-section time Lovenox can't be reversed whereas Heparin can.

I've taken lovenox with my last two pregnancies(am pregnant and on it now) and there are no blood tests needed. It's a really really good blood thinner with virtually no side effects. As long as you pinch up enough fat, you shouldn't feel the needles all that much. The drug doesn't cross the placenta so it does no harm at all to the baby.

As you get further along in pregnancy and the hCG level gets higher, the time it takes to double can increase to about every 96 hours. Caution must be used in making too much of hCG numbers. A normal pregnancy may have low hCG levels and result in a perfectly healthy baby. The results from an ultrasound after 5 - 6 weeks gestation are much more accurate than using hCG numbers.
