Avatar n tn Should a 59 years old male with severe CAD, Renal Insufficiency (has been on dialysis for 1 1/2 years), had cuadriple heart bypass four years ago and is getting a stent today for coronary obstruction and has been on Coumadin for several years, will have to add Plavix to his treatment or is Coumadin enough for anticoagulation and antiplatelet effect?
Avatar m tn He was able to view my CT scan fromt the hospital and indicated that I had a 2mm kidney stone in my left kidney and also a renal calcification in the meaty part of the kidney. He stated this was not a kidney stone and wanted more tests to rule out cancer. He indicated it was more like a cyst. I also got the results of my urine test and found out I have a bladder infection today. Today I had a CT scan with and without the contrast dye. My question is...what is a renal calcification???
Avatar m tn The EF below 30% is heart failure range and that can cause renal failure. Early complications of cardiac insufficiency include renal vasoconstriction and the development of sodium and water retention, which are hallmarks of the very early stages of congestive heart failure. Heart failure is a physiologically delicate condition in which therapy is designed to block the sodium retention and simultaneously interrupt excessively activated neurohumoral mechanisms.
Avatar f tn A high result means that your kidneys are not working well - called renal insufficiency. A very high result indicates renal failure.

681148 tn?1437661591 I was hospitalized myself for the first time ever with renal failure back in September. To this day the nephrologist hasn't been able to figure out what the cause of the renal failure was or why the kidneys are only almost back to normal, but won't quite get to normal. I also have Oral Allergy Syndrome, GERD/IBS, Celiac, MCS and asthma and possibly CFS/FMS. I've been reading some information about hursutism and its connection to the cortisol produced by the adrenal glands.
Avatar n tn His doctors found out that he has severe aortic insufficiency secondary to aortic-annular ectasia, chronic renal insufficiency secondary to hypertensive nephrosclerosis, hypertension, controlled.. Could you explain further in layman's term? He's still currently under observation. His doctors are somewhat not sure about how will they operate him because they said that this is a very rare heart problem.
3093770 tn?1389739126 As of 9/1/2011 the only known risk of NSF is in patients with renal failure in pre and post liver transplant patients. For us pre-transplant patients they measure our creatinine before each MRI to make sure our kidneys are functioning well enough before we receive an MRI with Gadolinium. For us with liver cancer it is critical that out cancer is monitored every 3 months with MRI and contrast as that is the best way to diagnosis hepatocellular carcinoma tumors.
Avatar n tn renal insufficiency? why?
Avatar f tn Common causes of pericardial effusion include heart failure, renal insufficiency, infection (bacterial, viral, or tuberculous), neoplasm (carcinoma of lung or breast, or lymphoma), and injury (from trauma or myocardial infarction). You didn't mention what tests were given. May require a CT scan or MR of the pericardial anatomy (outer sac covering the heart) to properly characterize and delineate pericardial lesions such as pericardial thickening, pericardial mass, etc.
Avatar f tn How have your blood pressures been? Multiple things can cause chf such as renal insufficiency, fluid overload, water retention from these disorders can sometimes be managed by weight control and exercising good dieting. Foods with high sodium levels can cause water retention. If I were you, I would see your PCP without delay. You don't want to end up with "flash pulmonary edema.

Avatar m tn She was being treated for bacterial pneumonia. She is now in renal and hepatic failure with some indication of turn around on #s (bilirubin high, but may be due to hematomas' reabsorption), She has a Dobhoff providing nutrition as she was not eating well and thus was retaining fluid. Her BP and HR are "normal" now, and she is able to sit up for 2-5 minutes. She was on intermittent dialysis, moving towards daily CRRT. Drs.
Avatar m tn There are stages of renal insufficiency. An EGFR of less than 15 warrants dialysis. In your case, would you know what stage your EGFR falls? For predialysis patients, "the diet is restricted to two major nutrients: protein and phosphorus. Restrictions in sodium, potassium, fluid and calories are based on individual needs. Because of restriction in certain foods, the diet is deficient in calcium, iron, Vitamin B12 and zinc.

Avatar f tn It makes no sense that people would have to die trying to find out if they have fibromuscular dysplasia or renal artery stenosis or carotid artery stenosis. I am blocked in my left renal artery and they want to go straight to an angioplasty (which they need dye for) and my right renal is start to narrow. My left carotid has homogenous plaque and my right carotid is looped. There is no hope for me at this point since I can't have dye.

Avatar f tn on a ventilator, he has mild renal insufficiency, some cardiac disease ... they have taken away the IV heparin drip and placed him on baby aspirin, he is getting his metoprolol, amiodarone for his occasional a-fib and tachycardia. My father is a very thin man (142 lbs), previously he was getting sedation since he is on a ventilator (Precedex). My question is; they have taken my father off the Precedex..it has been over 20 hours...but he is not waking up.
Avatar m tn weight gain, the demand for sweets salt, sleep problems, night I could not sleep and get up in the morning, etc. In phase 2-3 only I had elevated cortisol and all studies in the standard as it is known in the diagnosis of adrenal hormones is. Avatar n tn Lovenox safety in pregnancy is a question that is best answered by your obstetrician or by a high risk maternal fetal medicine subspecialist. I personally do not believe the low positive cardiolipin titers were related to infertility; the relationship is with recurrent pregnancy loss. I too respect your RE' reasoning for initiating lovenox, but would not have done so myself - a matter of opinion and my interpretation of the research and evidence available.
Avatar n tn I was put on Lovenox and a baby aspirin 2 weeks prior to miscarrying. The Doctor seems to think that when we get pregnant again that I can get on Lovenox and baby aspirin when i'm 7 weeks pregnant and that the pregnancy will be a healthy succuessful one. I'm just wondering has anyone else had a successful pregnancy taking Lovenox? Just really nervous and have alot of questions now. Should I go ahead and take the baby aspirin now or wait? The Doctor says we can try again in October.
