Lovenox in abdomen

Common Questions and Answers about Lovenox in abdomen

lovenox

I'm on Lovenox for Factor V (one gene). Same thing...repeated early losses in the past, but research indicates that Factor V should technically only be an issue in 2nd and 3rd trimester. Yet, this is the only pregnancy that continued past the first trimester and this time I was on Lovenox from day 1. The last two times, they wanted to wait and see a heartbeat before starting the blood thinners.
It does hurt sometimes. According to my specialist it should only be placed in the lower abdomen underneath, but not directly underneath your belly button. I've found a few things do help. Squeeze a pinch of fat from your belly in your hand kind of hard, that takes away from the ***** of the needle. (Don't forget to let go before you inject the medicine.) I also go quite slow with putting in the medication cause it burns sometimes.
I also get big lumps under my skin and it actually hurts to bend over but they seem to go down in a couple of days. I'm hoping the doctor this week will tell me I can do my Lovenox injections somewhere besides my abdomen to give my belly a much needed break allready! We have along way to go!
Hi there, I, too, had lymph nodes removed in the groins during initial surgery 31/2 years ago.Other nodes in groin, as well as the pelvis, remain a problem. There are too many of them to remove and some of them are by major vessels. I will be having radiation to the pelvis in a couple of weeks and they may radiate them as well. I didn't think they could radiate lymph nodes, but I could be wrong. I will find out for sure next week. You might want to ask about that too. Take care.
MHV - Thanks! You're probably right. I did feel some discomfort in the lower abdomen last night after the shot si something is working. Seems ok today though so my body must be getting used to it. How are things with you? What cycle day are you at? Kp - you are 4 days ahead if me then! I'm currently on day 3! What meds are you on now? Good luck with you US tomorrow. I can't wait to hear what you are at now!!
) I haven't experienced any symptoms, other than mild boob soreness and a bit of pain in the abdomen when i went to the gym earlier this morning. I am actually amazed how easy this process has been... I am soo glad not to have to nag my husband every 2 days or so... Mind you, it is my first time!! :) D.
My boyfriend is in the hospital now, 1 week so far - diagnosed with portal thrombosis, a blood clot in the portal vein extending into the splenic and mesenteric veins. It's been awful. It started about 3 days before hospitalization, with pain in abdomen, just under rib cage. A visit to the Dr. office for blood tests confirmed elevated liver enzymes.
It obviously is not mentioned in my file??? I was in today for BW/US - a nurse called me back with the results (she is a regular nurse and NOT IVF...??..) - Est=179/Proj=.3/LH=4/FSH= 9 - 19.3 follicle I called back immediately since I missed the call when she left a message. When I called the front desk back to talk to an IVF nurse, I was told to leave it in the IVF mailbox.
(25mcg) Bottom line is that I think I really screwed up this cycle. I knew in my gut that I O'd way back on CD12 and I didn't stay on the progesterone. The main reason is that my RE said when he did an u/s the day after I O'd, that it didn't look like I had just O'd. So I was afraid to take progesterone in case I hadn't O'd. Well, clearly I had. And now I'm wondering if I had kept on taking the progesterone, if I would be pregnant now. Jan 2-5 I felt completely pregnant.
When I would use the bathroom (urinate or bm) or even cough I would have pain/pressure in my lower abdomen and back. My lower abdomen began to swell which is funny because I had a hysterectomy years ago and it felt similar to uterine bloating but there's no uterus to swell. Then I began having trouble having bm (starting bowel movements) which was also strange since I had diarrhea.
i spent 6 days in the hospital and was given 5 shots of Lovenox around my belly button. Lovenox is used to prevent blood clots. I immediately got huge bruises and my abdomen began to swell. I was told it was normal and would go away. With each day the swelling increased and the pain increased. I was discharged and kept going to my surgeon and the ER because the swelling kept growing on the right side of my abdomen. in 5 days it was up to 20lbs.
when she was 3months PG. Blood thinner shot in the abdomen 2 times a day. She delivered a healthy 9lb baby girl!!!
I try coughing or drinking but the throat noise does not go away or even change it. I can tell it is not in my lungs, but in my throat. I can breathe shallow and minimize the noise but I feel out of breath then. My daughters say this wheeze is not my snore. They say I wheeze before the snore on intake and then exhale. I hear the noise during the day but I really have to listen to hear it as there is always too much back ground noise.
About 6 weeks ago it was discovered during a CT of chest and during the nuclear studies, that I had blood clots in my lungs. I was immediately put on Lovenox, 120 mg daily, injections. When I talked to the gasteroenterologist last night, she indicated that she is NOT giving up on me, but is totally puzzled as to what could be causing these problems. My Rheumatologist insists that they are not Lupus related. My Melanoma doctor thinks they are.
I am on high high risk so I see a doctor every week which is a pain because I live in the mountains. I have bad abdomen pain. I have to take Lovenox shots. Is it suppose to be this hard after 30. I just want it to be May already to have my c-section. Does anyone else feel this way? Am I a horrible mom for wanting it to be over !
They treated me for a week in the hospital giving my lovenox injections in my abdomen every 12 hours. After that, I was on coumadin for 3 months.
I have been nauseaus, favorite foods making me sick, lightheaded, tired and very crampy in my lower abdomen...my husband has been teasing me that I am pregnant and I am telling him NO WAY am I having these symptoms this early... so I started reading online and our of pure curiosity (knowing it would be negative even IF I am indeed pregnant) I took a test.... it has two lines... I am wondering if it could be because of the Ovidrel shot or something still lingering in my body ..
My doctor's office called and ordered a CT scan because they said the prior test found fluid in my abdomen and wanted to test for cancer cells. Went for the CT scan the next day. What a cool procedure. How medicine has advanced. Did the scan,,,then again,,,then again. The tech. came back in and told me to stay calm, lie still and not be alarmed. Oh yeah, she said the rad. doctor would be in after he talks to my doctor about what to do next and then asked me if I had any questions...
I give myself the injections twice a day in the abdomen region. I have finally figured out to inject without much pain. I just stay bruised under my belly-button area. But otherwise, it is not unbearable. But whatever I need to do to maintain the pregnancy-I just do it. My insurance covers the prescription-$50.00 for a 14 day supply. For some reason, I can only get 14 days vs. 30 days with other prescriptions.
2 days later I was readmitted w/ DVT in left leg. Started on coumadin, lovenox, heparin and sent home on lov and coumadin. Experienced several days of muscle aches and flu-like symptoms and then developed migrating muscle pain. Over the course of months the muscle pain escalated and involved joint issues as well. All blood tests to diagnose condition were normal. at 2 months post, began to experience pain in lower left rib cage upon stretching, lifting or deep breathing.
My stomach feels very tight and bloated and cramping, and have this unexplainable feeling in abdomen area. These symptoms can be confusing because of the medication.

He thinks it was there in Feb. when I had an ultra sound. At that time, I was told there was no clot. The end of March, I had trauma to my ankle. The pain went away but the swelling didn't. My leg swelled again and didn't go down. My doctor thought it was lymph edema, but decided to recheck for DVT again. I saw something on this web site saying that a chronic clot doesn't need to be treated because cells grow around the clot and separate it from the vasculature.
He also scared me when he said there was no guarantee it would not come back later on. I also formed a blood clot in my liver so now I am giving myself Lovenox shots in the stomac every morning. I go to a doctor on March 9th to start coumadin pills. Because of this I had to stop my birth control. They believe it could have contributed to why I got the blood clot during surgery.
My baby was 3 months old when it happened. I am very blessed in that my weakness is very minimal and doesn't effect my daily functions unless I don't get enough rest. I talked with my neurologist and my ob/gyn who both agreed I could become pregnant again. Their only stipulation was that I had to have a C-section. They did not want any strain on my neck. My stroke was due to a trip to the chiropractor who dissected both of my vertebral arteries resulting in a brain stem stroke.

Not much though like the first day. My legs were hurting in the mean time (they had been for 2 weeks...dull aches in the calves) and the dr ordered a hcg test and also a vein ultrasound as it felt like I had blood clots. I mentioned to him that perhaps my miscarriages of the past were because of blood clotting so he did order a hcg test and also blood work to check for blood clot disorder-- Which I am still waiting to hear the results of.
I have a beautiful purple bruised lower abdomen to show for it and all the Lovenox shots for a week and 1/2! The symptoms I had, (had I known at this point I could have done something earlier and they could have prevented all my pain and other stuff) were: Now mind you, I'm also experiencing the nasty nausea but not vomiting and no fever.
I have also been doing daily injections of low molecular weight heparin (Lovenox or Clexane). I'm now in my 11th week. However, I was doing this due to 7 failed IVF cycles. That said, there's nothing to stop you from taking the aspirin. It doesn't hurt and can only help. The no caffeine thing only makes sense. You should also not eat beef that is not well done, apparently.

I am going more frequently (which is great from never going at all or feeling like your being ripped apart when you go) but because I am still on the liquid diet the bm's are also liquid.
