Common Questions and Answers about Lovenox for long flights

lovenox

Avatar n tn I'm in my 5 weeks now , is it okay for me to have long flight , around 7-8 hours ?
Avatar f tn If shes on coumadin for a problem such as blood clots and its a long trip its important that she gets up every so often to stretch her legs and walk around a little. The same goes for long car rides or even sitting for long periods of time.
Avatar f tn I was on lovenox for a short period of time. I could not find a spot for the injection that didn't make me cry. I'm sorry you are going through this.hopefully they can switch you to the heparin by mouth instead. They told me that they normally keep ppl on the lovenox until wk 37 b.c it's longer acting and then the heparin after that b.c it's out of your system faster and is safer foe delivery bit maybe you can get switched earlier? Good luck!
Avatar f tn My stepmother was talking to a guy at her work who has MS about me, and he says that he often has a relapse after long flights or cross-hemisphere flights. So, several questions: 1) Do changes in climate or season trigger relapses for you? Winter - Summer or Summer - Winter? 2) Have you experienced relapses or MS-related events after long flights or cross-hemisphere travel? 3) I have read a bit about adverse reactions to heat for people with MS.
7172456 tn?1403092946 Hi ladies! Getting in early for this one.. I'm having my little girl in August (yay!!) and I'm planning to travel from Australia to the UK In may to visit relatives, she will only be 9 months old by then and I'm a bit worried how she will go flying, I don't want to book flights yet until I get some advice first..
Avatar f tn I had an ablation last week and am doing well, but am very beat up (low energy, black and blue, sore throat from TEE and polka dot bruises from Lovenox). My question is how long a time period is it usual to be on Lovenox? My doctor has said a full month. From my research, other than pregnant women, for all other conditions it says 2 weeks or less. I can't take coumadin due to a severe reaction to it.
Avatar f tn i went on a flight to Hawaii total 12hrs and my legs swell.and ache. this is common for long flights do to being stuck in a small space for a long period.
Avatar f tn t ever remember it taking this long to start? Does anyone know how long until I should start to worry?? I have really sharp pains every now and again but no sign of starting?? Today would be day 5 post negative test? I stopped taking progesterone and lovenox right away??
Avatar n tn The night of the day of the procedure I had, I restarted the Coumadin, and the following day after the surgery used Lovenox for 2 days giving the Coumadin time to begin building back up again. Speak with your husband's cardiologist who can oversee this for you.
287479 tn?1272730364 I am 22 and I have had three miscarriages in the past year. I've never gotten past 6 weeks. My doctor did a batch of bloodwork on me, as well as shooting dye into my uterus and tubes. Everything in my blood work came back fine, except I have MTHFR, which is a blood clotting disorder. We finally feel ready to try again. My doctor gave me a prescription for Lovenox 40mgs once a day. Plus I'm on Folic Acid. Has anyone taken this and had a sucess story?
Avatar n tn On the expired lovenox, just be sure that nothing has precipitated out of the solution. In other words, you shouldn't see any flakes or granules in the liquid. You also don't want to see any color change, or any kind of change from the normal appearance of the product, at all. Otherwise, as long as it looks okay, using it shortly after expiration is probably fine, in my personal opinion. (Bear in mind, I'm a patient and not a doctor or a pharmacist.
Avatar m tn I will be flying to Philippines in 2 days I normally have a MASSIVE fear of flights. This time round, I anticipate my fear of flights will go crazy because I will be going on an OLD aircraft (A340 model, possibly around 20 years old plane!) So how am I to stop this fear? Can i take Xanax? I checked with my insurance provider, and they say I can claim for Xanax, so looks like I can get a psychiatrist to dispense some for me.
Avatar m tn I had a huge fear of flying and I had to fly back and forth from los angeles to dc for an entire year. My doc gave me xanax for the first few flights to help ease my fears. It helped me relax and I usually fell asleep on the plane. That's what my doc said they usually use for flying anxiety. But absolutely talk to your doc and agree with greenlydia..try it beforehand. The first dose they gave me was WAY too strong for me so they cut it back. It helped immensely for the flight though.
Avatar f tn I am 23 weeks pregnant, and my Dr has me on 40mg Lovenox daily. I have been taking it close to 2 months now, without any followup blood work. I am on Lovenox because earlier in my pregnancy they discovered I MIGHT have a Protein-S deficiency. They just say to keep taking the injections. Should I get a "second opinion"?
645220 tn?1233764146 I took lovenox for 2 months because i got a blood clot in my left calf from taking birth control pills, and then had to be on coumadin for another 6 months of anticoagulation. In addition i am a nurse and have to give lovenox injections all the time and teach people how to do their own injections. I am not an OB nurse and I am curious why your are taking lovenox during your pregnancy, do you have a previous clotting issue with your pregnancies?
873190 tn?1304812975 s the charm for you (as it was for me) and that lovenox helps you have a happy, healthy nine months! Miranda: Best of luck to you! I hope your next BFP will be a sticky one! I hadn't heard about the bone density loss before. I'll have to look that up. Thanks for sharing!
1569985 tn?1328247482 They are supposed to call me with specific instructions, but it seems like everyone is passing the buck. Anyone know how long one is usually off a blood thinner for a brief procedure? Also, how long until the blood thinner gets back up to therapeutic levels and am I at any additional risk of blood clots by abruptly stopping the Warfarin? Also, I have sleep apnea, so being put out makes me nervous.
Avatar f tn I always took it with food. How long do you take them? Are there any of you only taking lovenox and folgard but not aspirin? I don't know how long my stomach can handle aspirin....
Avatar n tn I also have the same issue. My IGM first came back borderline and then the 2nd 2 tests were just slightly positive. I don't have any history of miscarriages. I'm on 40mg Lovenox a day and have been spotting brown blood for past 2 weeks. I have heard Lovenox causes bleeding. I don't think I need to be on Lovenox. My Rhemetologist said some docs would think Lovenox is necessary while other docs would think I wouldn't need Lovenox.
Avatar n tn I dont know anything about the lovenox but im sure your Dr knows whats best for you.
Avatar n tn To tell you the truth Im not for sure why Im taking Lovenox...we have 2 children and had no problems getting pregnant,etc..For some reason when I turned 30 I had three mc back to back..we were going to a fertility specialist and finally was able to get pregnant again the doc put me on lovenox, baby aspirin, and progesterone..looks like everything is going fine with this pregnancy..Im 9.3 weeks due Feb 21st.
Avatar f tn Ur only risk is blood clot formation. Everyone is at risk for this on long flights but risk increases for pregnant women. Walk every 2 hours and wear compression stockings. Other than that, for comfort, drink plenty, wear loose clothing, travel very light, get an aisle seat, bring snacks, and enjoy ur trip!!!
330481 tn?1309488243 I am homozygous (2 copies) for the A1298C. The doc said if want we can start on the lovenox (blood thinner) as soon as I am confirmed preggo. I was reading up on it also: I apparently need prescription folic acid (for the rest of my life - whether TTC or not) and baby aspirin (for the rest of my life) because the homozygous causes clotting in small vessels in the body (AKA - UTERUS - UGH!).
Avatar f tn Hi Littlemommabear - I know something like this has to be really frightening, but when you think about which one is riskier, doing nothing and hoping for the best and having your PFO closed, you know which one gives you loads better odds of having many, many years to watch your baby grow up. If you're wondering how the procedure will go, as I understand it (and someone please jump in if I'm wrong), it's much like any other heart catheter procedure, and the risks are very low.
7552771 tn?1469929649 Platelets are what helps clot your blood, they all group together. Low platelets puts you at an increased risk for bleeding, but high platelets put you at an increased risk for excess clotting, such as DVTs...
Avatar f tn I wasn on lovenox injections for the first few months of my pregnancy and every thing seems to be good with baby.
Avatar m tn Is considered high risk. Having to take lovenox injections. Just found out Now considered higher risk. Told Lovenox will not be enough for blood clot problems. MY and HER question is: MTHFR mutations, C677T and A1298C information found give pretty much the same explanation; forums understandably give the best outcomes and successes. But, would like to know the other side of the coin as well. Birth defects, what kind, has anyone out here had negative outcomes with these pregnancies?
Avatar f tn My dr had told me to be extra careful on flights, if its a long flight make sure you get up every 2 hours and walk around to circulate your legs. She said that in rare cases, you can get blood clots in the legs causing blood to stop going to your heart. However, it's very rare. Just make sure you move around. Have fun!
