Lovenox for dvt

Common Questions and Answers about Lovenox for dvt

lovenox

Avatar m tn Need advice...my husband has had a dvt in his leg below knee for three months. Last week he hit his shin at work and now leg is really swollen and purple especially on the heel. he has been on coumadin since initial diagnosis and also his doctor put him on lovenox shots for ten days. The lovenox was also given short term when he was diagnosed. There was another ultrasound done when he injured his leg and now they are not sure if he developed another clot or if this is the same clot.
Avatar n tn Is it common to have a PE with no evidence of a DVT? Am I realisticly looking at Lovenox for the rest of my life? I am a 32 year old male with no prior history and according to the doctors in good health. A few women on my mother's side have had DVT's around childbirth, but to my knowledge, noone has shown any genetic predisposition that can be identified.
178698 tn?1228774338 I have to take this blood thinner throughout my pregnancy and I give myself injections just under my belly button. I've been experiencing welts at the injection site. I don't know if I am doing something wrong. But these welts stick around for a few days. They aren't painful and don't bother me, I just think I am giving myself the shot incorrectly. Has anyone else experienced this issue?????
Avatar f tn Okay so I am 37+4 and I have been on Heparin for a little over a week now and was on lovenox since I found out I was pregnant due to a DVT I had back in June of 2012 after gallbladder surgery. My question is can I request to be induced? Its been stressful and I'm worried about going into labor naturally and not being able to have an epidural or having complications due to having to be on this medication. Does anyone think I would be able to be induced because of this risk factor?
Avatar n tn Hi, I was diagnosed a week and a half ago with a chronic DVT. I had an ultrasound. The technologist let me see it. I have good blood flo around it. My GP is treating it with coumadin. He thinks it was there in Feb. when I had an ultra sound. At that time, I was told there was no clot. The end of March, I had trauma to my ankle. The pain went away but the swelling didn't. My leg swelled again and didn't go down.
Avatar n tn Congrats! I'm due August 4th. My original date was the 7th but the sono said I was a little further along. What are lovenex shots?
Avatar n tn that is something for a doc to discuss w/ you certainly. However, I had a very large DVT that stretched from my groin to my knee in my last pregnancy (he's 6.5 now) and am pregnant again. You won't likely be on Coumadin during pregnancy (I'm guessing) but they'll switch you to Heparin or Lovenox (I'm on Lovenox).
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with lupus anticoagulant blood disorder. I have a leg full of clots that won't break up and go away. They have been treated for 3 years with warfarin, lovenox and cumadin. All to no avail. My gp doctor doesn't seem to have the knack to getting the INR levels stable. I've been at levels of 6 and 6.5 many times leading to ER transfusions. Last week it was 1.1 I'm worried because the symptoms are so much worse lately.
Avatar f tn 06 I had gallbladder surgery - a few days after the surgery I had pain in my left calf. They found a DVT in my left leg, so I was put on blood thinners for a couple of months to help dissolve the blood clot. So because of this I now have a blood clot history. MY GYN told me the hysterectomy would be risky so he wants to have me take blood thinners BEFORE the surgery. I just need to know if anyone ever heard of this?
873190 tn?1304812975 s the charm for you (as it was for me) and that lovenox helps you have a happy, healthy nine months! Miranda: Best of luck to you! I hope your next BFP will be a sticky one! I hadn't heard about the bone density loss before. I'll have to look that up. Thanks for sharing!
374593 tn?1257879950 My last cycle was a BFP but I miscarried at 8 1/2 weeks (no fetal pole, no heart beat). I have a DVT (recurring blood clot) in my left leg and am sometimes placed on Lovenox to help thin my blood. When I am taking aspirin, I don't have to take the Lovenox...Good luck to you!
507875 tn?1423160261 I am being sent to a high risk doc because I have a fibroid that is my doc said my keep me from delivering vaginally, but I am going to remain prayerful that all will be okay when that time comes around!!! ALso, I have to start Lovenox injections again because I have DVT (blood clot) in my right leg...it is laying dormant now and doesn't bother me but he wants to cross every "t" and dot every "I" to make sure things will continue to go smoothly!! I AM SO EXCITED!!!
330481 tn?1309488243 I am homozygous (2 copies) for the A1298C. The doc said if want we can start on the lovenox (blood thinner) as soon as I am confirmed preggo. I was reading up on it also: I apparently need prescription folic acid (for the rest of my life - whether TTC or not) and baby aspirin (for the rest of my life) because the homozygous causes clotting in small vessels in the body (AKA - UTERUS - UGH!).
Avatar f tn Hi Jane, Wow. I really appreciate everything you have shared here. You have been through a lot. The information you shared is very helpful! Thank you for taking your time to pass this along to me. I'm 3 1/2 years post diagnosis/surgery. I was at 3C. The tumor was so large that the surgeon never saw the uterus, because it was completely encased. I've been able to teach full-time and be on and off chemo without missing any work, other than to get to appointments.
Avatar f tn I actually did have two more clots that showed up after I was on warfarin for the first dvt in my leg. when I got out of the hospital, I first had pain/swelling in my arm, ultrasound confirmed a superficial clot there which was caused by 3 attempts to place a new iv in my arm while I was in the icu in dka. The clot oddly didn't show up until I did some exercise. Then a week later I had pain in the other leg, swelling and swelling in the ankle.
Avatar f tn Time is absolutely of the essence. FYI, Lovenox did not work for me after 1st trimester . . . long story but you should know it, as it might be yours as well. Email me.
Avatar f tn So due to my learning early that I was indeed pregnant, and though I could not get the specialist appointment immediately I did get the prescription for the Lovenox from my own MD. It is kind of silly when you think about it, all my specialist appointments occurred well after the risky period.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know if there is any correlation between a blood clot and hypothyroid/synthroid? i haven't found anything online. I know some people get DVT, pulmonary embolism from Birth Control and i know that thyroid/synthroid stuff is hormone related but is there any significance or anything documented about hypothyroid/synthroid etc.. and pulmonary embolism? I can't find a reason why this happened to me. I had a PE a few weeks ago with no DVT and docs can't find a reason for it??
Avatar f tn I was on lovenox for a short period of time. I could not find a spot for the injection that didn't make me cry. I'm sorry you are going through this.hopefully they can switch you to the heparin by mouth instead. They told me that they normally keep ppl on the lovenox until wk 37 b.c it's longer acting and then the heparin after that b.c it's out of your system faster and is safer foe delivery bit maybe you can get switched earlier? Good luck!
Avatar n tn The correlation between breast cancer and estrogen related ovarian cancer is being studied, and the theory is if they work for breast cancer patients, they may work for estrogen related ovarian cancer, as well. For me, Aromasin has kept my cancer stable for the last 9 months. I encourage you and your mom to speak to her doctor regarding trying a different Aromatase Inhibiter IF Femara doesn't seem to work for her, or causes side effects.
Avatar n tn The night of the day of the procedure I had, I restarted the Coumadin, and the following day after the surgery used Lovenox for 2 days giving the Coumadin time to begin building back up again. Speak with your husband's cardiologist who can oversee this for you.
Avatar n tn If it's growing pain then you should go check it out, DVT can go unnoticed for a long time. It usually happens in older ages (60+) but DVT can happen in ANY age.
338416 tn?1420045702 I ended up losing weight when I was on Coumadin/blood thinners for a year for the DVT I had. I think the Coumadin can suppress your appetite. I was also cold for the very first time in my life. I was always warm blooded, but definitely not on the Coumadin. The longer that your on the Coumadin, you might notice some minor hair loss. I did have this, but fortunately I have very thick hair to begin with. Did they give you instructions on the Coumadin diet?
Avatar n tn I am a 52 year old woman with history of DVT and Pulmonary embolism (since age of 17 - hereditary). I've been off my anti-coagulants for over a year and a half now due to no insurance. I'm an LMSW and work with elderly and disabled individuals. About 2 months ago, I was doing visits and was out in the middle of nowhere, driving, when I felt a pressure across my chest and then my back started hurting pretty bad (around right shoulder blade and right arm). I could not get comfortable.
