Lovenox for afib

Common Questions and Answers about Lovenox for afib

lovenox

Avatar m tn Thanks so much for your in-put! Did you also have to have your protime 2 or 3 for four weeks before the procedure? That is what is killing us! I am also worried about having no reduction in the atrial fib. beats for so long. Medicare will only pay for a protime test once a week. Scares me also.
770426 tn?1235061489 My understanding that ablation for AFib is usually effective, that is, if your are in AFib when the ablation is being done the doctor can "see" where the problem area(s) are. As for blood thinners, are you saying you have a problem keeping in the range INR 2 to 3, or do you bruise anyway? I have none of those problems, so my EP and Cardiologist do not recommend an ablation for me, my symptoms are too minor, so they say : >).
Avatar m tn iam getting an ablation very soon for afib scared to death, 38yrs 6' 193 pds 6 percent body fat. in such great shape how could this be run evry day work with weights 6 days also, diet strict.benn tested for evrything came out aces. i am in the philly area gone to u penn dr. callhans for the procedure does anyone know of the percentage rate, is it better here with that doc than any other. my docter told me that there the best but i second guess evrything thats just me .
942410 tn?1274047074 Had catheter abalation on the 8th for afib and happy little pvcs and pacs that went along with it. It was an experience like no other what with the intubating and TEE ing and a million leads and a night in the hospital. A least they weighed me in Kilos so I didn't have to think about that. The Doc got the sites that showed their nasty little selves and a few that tried to hide. Got on the recording heart monitor now for a month.
Avatar f tn I run between 2 and 3 with 5 mg of Warfarin. That is the therapudic range for AFib. AFib is associated with a higher risk of clot formation, PVCs are not in my knowledge. 2) an EF of 50% is low, but not critically low to my understanding. I think 65% is about a good as it gets.. some may be better, but not over 70%. 3) Cleveland Clinic is one of the best and they do offer web-based (mail) consultation for a reasonable fee (I have not used).
612551 tn?1450022175 He said I should be able to regain some of my past strength/endurance for physical activity. This is my main complaint about AFib, tired and shortness of breath, and HR goes up too easily. So for now, it is back to my Cardiologist for care, and even that not for several months unless something comes up or I change my mind.
Avatar m tn I've had afib for 8 years. I'm on 225mg of Propafenone 3 times a day and baby aspirin twice a day. I have episodes maybe twice a month, lasting anywhere from 5 minutes to 4 hours. My doctor calls it an annoyance and that an ablation is only needed if the episodes become more frequent. I don't use caffeine of any kind. I've found that stress seems to trigger mine alot of the time. Should I worry since my doctor calls it just an annoyance?
Avatar f tn I was on lovenox for a short period of time. I could not find a spot for the injection that didn't make me cry. I'm sorry you are going through this.hopefully they can switch you to the heparin by mouth instead. They told me that they normally keep ppl on the lovenox until wk 37 b.c it's longer acting and then the heparin after that b.c it's out of your system faster and is safer foe delivery bit maybe you can get switched earlier? Good luck!
Avatar f tn I think you have to weigh the risk and the advantage. I've been on coumadin for occasional a-fib for a yr and no side-effects whatsoever. I was very reluctant to start it but it it has proved to be no problem. What exactly is your reluctancy? Is his a-fib constant...if so, then there is your answer. You don't want him to have a stroke.
Avatar n tn The night of the day of the procedure I had, I restarted the Coumadin, and the following day after the surgery used Lovenox for 2 days giving the Coumadin time to begin building back up again. Speak with your husband's cardiologist who can oversee this for you.
Avatar m tn I was persistant AFIB for 2 years prior to have my first 2 cardiac ablations in 2009. I went 2.5 years, started to having bouts of Afib, with multiple cardioversions in 2012, Had a 3rd ablation in the Fall of 2011 and went until Mid December 2013 and went into Afib again. I just had a 4th ablation the beginning of April 2014.... Are their recommendations for combating this problem? I am loosing weight, through proper nutrition and exercise. Will lowering my weight and blood pressure help?
Avatar n tn I also have the same issue. My IGM first came back borderline and then the 2nd 2 tests were just slightly positive. I don't have any history of miscarriages. I'm on 40mg Lovenox a day and have been spotting brown blood for past 2 weeks. I have heard Lovenox causes bleeding. I don't think I need to be on Lovenox. My Rhemetologist said some docs would think Lovenox is necessary while other docs would think I wouldn't need Lovenox.
Avatar n tn I dont know anything about the lovenox but im sure your Dr knows whats best for you.
Avatar n tn To tell you the truth Im not for sure why Im taking Lovenox...we have 2 children and had no problems getting pregnant,etc..For some reason when I turned 30 I had three mc back to back..we were going to a fertility specialist and finally was able to get pregnant again the doc put me on lovenox, baby aspirin, and progesterone..looks like everything is going fine with this pregnancy..Im 9.3 weeks due Feb 21st.
Avatar f tn He went on to explain that if the tachycardia I experience is afib that is harder to ablate and has higher complication rate. Has anyone had an ablation for afib? I am really scared. I'm probably going to cause my heart to do something weird just by stressing about it. Neither of my options seem particularly good to me. Does SVT or afib, whichever it is, just keep getting out of control? Would it do any good to just switch beta blockers..do you develop a tolerance to them?
Avatar f tn My Lovenox prescription was for 12 days. Now just on Coumadin 5mg daily and INR has come down to 3. If you cannot tolerate Coumadin you may be "stuck" with Lovenox because of it's ability as an anticoagulant.
Avatar m tn t think having afib means you are doomed to CHF but the odds are higher that you will develop it so having the ablation for the afib may help you avoid getting CHF. It is a big decision though, ablations for afib are a bit trickier than ones for a run of the mill svt because they involve a vein as opposed to just the muscle in the wall of the heart. I believe the odds of short term cure are around 80%.
Avatar f tn I also have to be induced at 39 weeks and then continue lovenox for 6 weeks after delivery.
645220 tn?1233764146 I took lovenox for 2 months because i got a blood clot in my left calf from taking birth control pills, and then had to be on coumadin for another 6 months of anticoagulation. In addition i am a nurse and have to give lovenox injections all the time and teach people how to do their own injections. I am not an OB nurse and I am curious why your are taking lovenox during your pregnancy, do you have a previous clotting issue with your pregnancies?
Avatar n tn Our interventional cardiologist was away and his partners wouldn’t touch it and made her wait for 3 days in the E.R. for his return. She had i.v. nitro and heperin. Was that safe? She is now taking lovenox injections to see if this prevents further clots because 1 platelet count came back slightly elebvated and it should have been zero (it was 288)..
873190 tn?1304812975 s the charm for you (as it was for me) and that lovenox helps you have a happy, healthy nine months! Miranda: Best of luck to you! I hope your next BFP will be a sticky one! I hadn't heard about the bone density loss before. I'll have to look that up. Thanks for sharing!
Avatar f tn m worried about what I was reading about epidural while taking lovenox, debates on when you should stop prior to surgery for pregnancy; possibly bleeding too much. That and I do not get numb underneath my skin so another c-section would be a bit uncomfortable since I passed out last time from all the pain and I like to be aware what is going on. That and if anything goes wrong I'd be passed out before I knew so....
645220 tn?1233764146 I've been doing Lovenox daily for the past 4 months and have never experienced this. In fairness, it's DH who does it for me!! Where are you doing it? I do it in the belly, either side of the belly button and at least 2 inches from the belly button. Are you pinching the skin? You should be pinching quite a chunk... as in, put your finger and thumb about 2.5 inches apart on your belly and push together.
287479 tn?1272730364 I am 22 and I have had three miscarriages in the past year. I've never gotten past 6 weeks. My doctor did a batch of bloodwork on me, as well as shooting dye into my uterus and tubes. Everything in my blood work came back fine, except I have MTHFR, which is a blood clotting disorder. We finally feel ready to try again. My doctor gave me a prescription for Lovenox 40mgs once a day. Plus I'm on Folic Acid. Has anyone taken this and had a sucess story?
Avatar f tn Lovenox is for blood clots. I had two pulmonary embolisms last tear from being on BC pills. As a precaution, they put me back in to avoid developing any more during the pregnancy. I don't know what fragmen is, I'm going to Google it now. @ krisdy, I didn't know you can do it in your legs. The Dr was so specific about where he wanted me to do it..in the love handles but if I can alternate from legs to stomach, I will. Where in your legs?
523025 tn?1227557625 So i went for my 25 week d/a today and it looks as if i'm going to have this little girl earlier than expected. We discussed my section and the doctor wants me off all lovenox/heparin for at least a week before he does the surgery. Since i went into labor with my daughter at 39 weeks he thinks i'll go earlier than that with this one. So he is giving me an amnio at 37.5 weeks to see if her lungs are developed - if so he said he will deliver her between 37.5 and 38 weeks.
Avatar n tn Has anybody used the blood thinner lovenox? My doctor put me on it for the whole pregnancy. I just forbid out I was carrying 4 days ago. I'm very nervous because I've had 3 miscarriages before this.
