Is it common to have a PE with no evidence of a DVT? Am I realisticly looking at Lovenox for the rest of my life? I am a 32 year old male with no prior history and according to the doctors in good health. A few women on my mother's side have had DVT's around childbirth, but to my knowledge, noone has shown any genetic predisposition that can be identified.
im 10wks 6days. Last week i went to the doctor and they put me on lovenox. I had a past history of clotts. PE to be exact . Im super excited because my baby heartbeat was 180. I had an ablation last week and am doing well, but am very beat up (low energy, black and blue, sore throat from TEE and polka dot bruises from Lovenox). My question is how long a time period is it usual to be on Lovenox? My doctor has said a full month. From my research, other than pregnant women, for all other conditions it says 2 weeks or less. I can't take coumadin due to a severe reaction to it.
A DVT usually causes PE not a stroke, but since you are at risk for clots in general with your condition, you are at risk for both PE and strokes. That is why you need to be on warfarin. You can also discuss with a hematologist if baby aspirin is a possibility, but I think they're going to say warfarin for life. When the clot is dissolved you can redo the testing to confirm that you really have this condition.
I was on lovenox for a short period of time. I could not find a spot for the injection that didn't make me cry. I'm sorry you are going through this.hopefully they can switch you to the heparin by mouth instead. They told me that they normally keep ppl on the lovenox until wk 37 b.c it's longer acting and then the heparin after that b.c it's out of your system faster and is safer foe delivery bit maybe you can get switched earlier?

Your doctors should make every effort to identify the source of the blood clot and the reason(s) for its formation. This is a very treatable medical condition and you should currently and for some weeks or even months to come, be on an anti-coagulant medicine to thin your blood.
If the reason the blood clot formed has not been determined, you should have further evaluation.
I was treated with Lovenox and Coumadin and discharged on Xarelto. Does the clot in my heart still pose a threat to my health. I have been on Xarelto for about four days. I was also wondering if I should consider a clotting disorder since I had a blood clot 10 years ago in my leg. I am 57 years old and do not have any other problems with my heart such as A-fib. The only symptom I had was mild shortness of breath. The clots were discovered as an incidental finding on another test.
I also have the same issue. My IGM first came back borderline and then the 2nd 2 tests were just slightly positive. I don't have any history of miscarriages. I'm on 40mg Lovenox a day and have been spotting brown blood for past 2 weeks. I have heard Lovenox causes bleeding. I don't think I need to be on Lovenox. My Rhemetologist said some docs would think Lovenox is necessary while other docs would think I wouldn't need Lovenox.
I dont know anything about the lovenox but im sure your Dr knows whats best for you.
To tell you the truth Im not for sure why Im taking Lovenox...we have 2 children and had no problems getting pregnant,etc..For some reason when I turned 30 I had three mc back to back..we were going to a fertility specialist and finally was able to get pregnant again the doc put me on lovenox,baby aspirin, and progesterone..looks like everything is going fine with this pregnancy..Im 9.3 weeks due Feb 21st.
I had ear tubess inserted recently (on Feb. 2, 2010) to help relieve 6 months of ear blockage (no fluids were found by the doctor and I haven't had any ear infections). My symtoms are now worse. Anyone else have experience with PE tubes for ear blockage (I'm guessing I have Eustachain tube dysfunction). More on my background below:

Does anyone know if there is any correlation between a blood clot and hypothyroid/synthroid? i haven't found anything online. I know some people get DVT, pulmonary embolism from Birth Control and i know that thyroid/synthroid stuff is hormone related but is there any significance or anything documented about hypothyroid/synthroid etc.. and pulmonary embolism? I can't find a reason why this happened to me. I had a PE a few weeks ago with no DVT and docs can't find a reason for it??
Thanks so much for your in-put! Did you also have to have your protime 2 or 3 for four weeks before the procedure? That is what is killing us! I am also worried about having no reduction in the atrial fib. beats for so long.
Medicare will only pay for a protime test once a week. Scares me also.
Our interventional cardiologist was away and his partners wouldn’t touch it and made her wait for 3 days in the E.R. for his return. She had i.v. nitro and heperin. Was that safe? She is now taking lovenox injections to see if this prevents further clots because 1 platelet count came back slightly elebvated and it should have been zero (it was 288)..
m worried about what I was reading about epidural while taking lovenox, debates on when you should stop prior to surgery for pregnancy; possibly bleeding too much. That and I do not get numb underneath my skin so another c-section would be a bit uncomfortable since I passed out last time from all the pain and I like to be aware what is going on. That and if anything goes wrong I'd be passed out before I knew so....
