Need advice...my husband has had a dvt in his leg below knee for three months. Last week he hit his shin at work and now leg is really swollen and purple especially on the heel. he has been on coumadin since initial diagnosis and also his doctor put him on lovenox shots for ten days. The lovenox was also given short term when he was diagnosed. There was another ultrasound done when he injured his leg and now they are not sure if he developed another clot or if this is the same clot.
Its likely you can do heparin while you consider a transition to another med. Lovenox is another blood thinner. Both need close monitoring just like coumadin.
Not sure what side effects he is having?
Lovenox is a general blood level that needs to be achieved and is injected 12hrly and is pre packaged so no drawing up to do.
Okay so I am 37+4 and I have been on Heparin for a little over a week now and was on lovenox since I found out I was pregnant due to a DVT I had back in June of 2012 after gallbladder surgery. My question is can I request to be induced? Its been stressful and I'm worried about going into labor naturally and not being able to have an epidural or having complications due to having to be on this medication. Does anyone think I would be able to be induced because of this risk factor?
Hi, I was diagnosed a week and a half ago with a chronic DVT. I had an ultrasound. The technologist let me see it. I have good blood flo around it. My GP is treating it with coumadin. He thinks it was there in Feb. when I had an ultra sound. At that time, I was told there was no clot. The end of March, I had trauma to my ankle. The pain went away but the swelling didn't. My leg swelled again and didn't go down.
Congrats! I'm due August 4th. My original date was the 7th but the sono said I was a little further along. What are lovenex shots?

I had an ablation last week and am doing well, but am very beat up (low energy, black and blue, sore throat from TEE and polka dot bruises from Lovenox). My question is how long a time period is it usual to be on Lovenox? My doctor has said a full month. From my research, other than pregnant women, for all other conditions it says 2 weeks or less. I can't take coumadin due to a severe reaction to it.
HI, I can't speak to the overarching issue...that is something for a doc to discuss w/ you certainly. However, I had a very large DVT that stretched from my groin to my knee in my last pregnancy (he's 6.5 now) and am pregnant again. You won't likely be on Coumadin during pregnancy (I'm guessing) but they'll switch you to Heparin or Lovenox (I'm on Lovenox).
I was diagnosed with lupus anticoagulant blood disorder. I have a leg full of clots that won't break up and go away. They have been treated for 3 years with warfarin, lovenox and cumadin. All to no avail. My gp doctor doesn't seem to have the knack to getting the INR levels stable. I've been at levels of 6 and 6.5 many times leading to ER transfusions. Last week it was 1.1 I'm worried because the symptoms are so much worse lately.
Every scan that has been run reveal no DVT. I have been placed on Lovenox indefinitely and had an IVC filter put in (even though they are not sure where the emboli are coming from). Are there any other tests I can inquire about? Is it common to have a PE with no evidence of a DVT? Am I realisticly looking at Lovenox for the rest of my life? I am a 32 year old male with no prior history and according to the doctors in good health.
My Dad who is 77 has been on Coumadin since 2005 after a DVT following surgery, He also has Afib and has had it for years, due to a thyroid condition. he also has a pacemaker. He's been on Armour thyroid for at least 4 years, and tried Armour instead of Synthoid to see if he would feel better on Synthoid's alternative. Which he does actually feel better emotionally on the Armour.
Im a 27 year old male. I was diagnosed with a DVT in my right leg on Jan 8th 2013. Currently Im on Coumadin. 10mg a day everyday. My INR was last checked two days ago and is 2.3. The ER drew some blood when I initially went in with DVT symptoms and I was told a week later that I have Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome and that's what supposedly caused my clot.
How exactly will my body dissolve the clot if I have APS (antiphospholipid antibody syndrome)?
With APS I am more prone to clot.
Is anyone dealing with malignant lymph nodes in the neck and / or a deep vein thrombosis (DVT)? I have a DVT in the left subclavian vein below the clavicle and numerous lymph nodes right above it are confirmed malignant. I had been on Taxol for 8 months (and I'm nearly losing all of my fingernails from it!) and last week I started Topotecan. Has anyone had lymph nodes surgically removed during recurrent ovarian? My doctor has not suggested it and I intend to ask.
I actually did have two more clots that showed up after I was on warfarin for the first dvt in my leg. when I got out of the hospital, I first had pain/swelling in my arm, ultrasound confirmed a superficial clot there which was caused by 3 attempts to place a new iv in my arm while I was in the icu in dka. The clot oddly didn't show up until I did some exercise. Then a week later I had pain in the other leg, swelling and swelling in the ankle.
I am now 21 weeks pregnant and at 18 weeks found I have this antithrombin III deficiency. I have preiously had a DVT in my leg after ankle surgery in 2008. I was put on 40mg Clexane Injections a day and told to come back in the following week for another test. The second test came back with no change so they put it to 80mg per day and told me to come back two weeks later.

I was diagnosed with MTHFR homozygous mutation with elevated homocysteine levels when I had a blood clot (DVT) last year. My husband and I are currently trying to conceive our first child. I also have PCOS and was not ovulating on my own. I am on my second cycle of Clomid and have ovulated both cycles. Yay! It's too early to tell if the 2nd cycle worked - I'm on cycle day 22.
My OB had me see a cardiologist before we began TTC due to my DVT.
Does anyone know if there is any correlation between a blood clot and hypothyroid/synthroid? i haven't found anything online. I know some people get DVT, pulmonary embolism from Birth Control and i know that thyroid/synthroid stuff is hormone related but is there any significance or anything documented about hypothyroid/synthroid etc.. and pulmonary embolism? I can't find a reason why this happened to me. I had a PE a few weeks ago with no DVT and docs can't find a reason for it??
I am a 52 year old woman with history of DVT and Pulmonary embolism (since age of 17 - hereditary). I've been off my anti-coagulants for over a year and a half now due to no insurance. I'm an LMSW and work with elderly and disabled individuals. About 2 months ago, I was doing visits and was out in the middle of nowhere, driving, when I felt a pressure across my chest and then my back started hurting pretty bad (around right shoulder blade and right arm). I could not get comfortable.
I also have the same issue. My IGM first came back borderline and then the 2nd 2 tests were just slightly positive. I don't have any history of miscarriages. I'm on 40mg Lovenox a day and have been spotting brown blood for past 2 weeks. I have heard Lovenox causes bleeding. I don't think I need to be on Lovenox. My Rhemetologist said some docs would think Lovenox is necessary while other docs would think I wouldn't need Lovenox.
