Lovenox dosing afib

Common Questions and Answers about Lovenox dosing afib

lovenox

Avatar m tn The last time I had Lovenox was one year ago and I was at 2.6 when I started the Lovenox. At that time I quit taking coumadin until after the procedure. The day after the procedure, I started up on coumadin and continued to taking the Lovenox until I was therapeutic again (between 2-3 INR). You stated that you were worried about the AFib. I assume you were referring to AFib while you are off coumadin and on Lovenox. I wouldn't worry about that.
Avatar m tn I would say that he is having improvement. I know that if they had given my mother in law a blood thinner when she was having Afib she would have done much better. Her blood clot was in her heart as well. I think that this is a good thing, It is however a fairly new medication for the group. Just give it time and think possitive.....
Avatar f tn I had an ablation last week and am doing well, but am very beat up (low energy, black and blue, sore throat from TEE and polka dot bruises from Lovenox). My question is how long a time period is it usual to be on Lovenox? My doctor has said a full month. From my research, other than pregnant women, for all other conditions it says 2 weeks or less. I can't take coumadin due to a severe reaction to it.
Avatar m tn If you doctor is a specialist and does successful AFib ablations (not all ablations are equal, AFib is the most difficult I believe) frequently, you have the right doctor. You doctor should have given you some % facts to help you decide. I'd guess the possibility of complications is less than 1% and of success is more than 80%. I can't tell you these are your numbers you have to ask your doctor.
942410 tn?1274047074 Had catheter abalation on the 8th for afib and happy little pvcs and pacs that went along with it. It was an experience like no other what with the intubating and TEE ing and a million leads and a night in the hospital. A least they weighed me in Kilos so I didn't have to think about that. The Doc got the sites that showed their nasty little selves and a few that tried to hide. Got on the recording heart monitor now for a month.
Avatar f tn I run between 2 and 3 with 5 mg of Warfarin. That is the therapudic range for AFib. AFib is associated with a higher risk of clot formation, PVCs are not in my knowledge. 2) an EF of 50% is low, but not critically low to my understanding. I think 65% is about a good as it gets.. some may be better, but not over 70%. 3) Cleveland Clinic is one of the best and they do offer web-based (mail) consultation for a reasonable fee (I have not used).
612551 tn?1450022175 In particular, people taking fish oil or long-chain omega-3 fatty acid (EPA and DHA) supplements in combination with anticoagulant drugs, including aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), dipyridamole (Persantine), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid) and warfarin (Coumadin), should have their coagulation status monitored using a standardized prothrombin time assay (INR).
1569985 tn?1328247482 30 - 6:30 dosing time in the morning. I DO NOT want to go back into afib over a stupid missing of a dose. I was thinking I could split the difference of the 5 hours and take my next dose at 7:30 a.m. If anyone sees this tonight PLEASE respond! Maybe it won 't make a difference in my arrythmia, but I really don't want to mess this up! I can't find anything online about what to do if one misses a dose. HELP!!!
Avatar f tn My Dad who is 77 has been on Coumadin since 2005 after a DVT following surgery, He also has Afib and has had it for years, due to a thyroid condition. he also has a pacemaker. He's been on Armour thyroid for at least 4 years, and tried Armour instead of Synthoid to see if he would feel better on Synthoid's alternative. Which he does actually feel better emotionally on the Armour.
Avatar n tn 2/4/08 I was AFIB, diagnosed as hyperthyroid due to a hot nodule on the right that had taken over function. 4/24/08 had right thyroidectomy, with removal of isthmus. Post TSH was 14.06, started on 25mcg of Synthroid. No more AFIB. On 100mcg of Synthroid TSH was 2.42, T4 1.0. Periods were every 24 days, heavy. Upped Synthroid to 125mcg, TSH 1.61, T4 0.9. Periods q.28 days, but then heart started feeling "racy" again, so decreased down to 100mcg, and not feeling quite right again.
Avatar m tn I've had afib for 8 years. I'm on 225mg of Propafenone 3 times a day and baby aspirin twice a day. I have episodes maybe twice a month, lasting anywhere from 5 minutes to 4 hours. My doctor calls it an annoyance and that an ablation is only needed if the episodes become more frequent. I don't use caffeine of any kind. I've found that stress seems to trigger mine alot of the time. Should I worry since my doctor calls it just an annoyance?
Avatar f tn I think it a misnomer to say coumadin is taken to "treat" AFib. Yes, it is usually necessary if one suffers from AFib, but the does nothing to "treat" AFib, its only purpose/benefit is it reduces the formation of blood clots. This is of critical importance. I would think at age 89 the best approach would be protection and symptom control. This "treatment" usually, in my experience, has two components: blood clot prevention, and heart rate control.
1569985 tn?1328247482 I looked up the dosing info on the internet and it says the usual dose is 225 mg. every 12 hours to start and then increase if necessary to 325 mg. after 5 days. It can be increased to 425. They are starting me on 325 mg. The dosing info also says to take precautions in the elderly. Not sure if I am elderly at 67, and 2 doctors recommended the 325 dose, perhaps because the Norpace @ 150 mg. every 12 hours was giving me so many side effects, also feeling like my afib might break thru again.
Avatar f tn Many people live a productive life with afib but you will need to learn what works for you. Firstly you need to get the dosing correct. As for the pins/needles it almost sounds like you had an allergic reaction. This would be something to discuss with your doctor. Have you been to a cardiologist to get your heart properly checked out? You should definitely be seeing a cardiologist not just a regular doctor if you are not. I am sure others with afib will be able to give you more advice.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am a 60 year old male and I've had afib for the last 5 years. I've had catheter ablation surgery about 2 years ago but it didn't elimiate the afib episodes 100%. I saw my EP today and we are going to try the drug tikosyn. He indicated to me that I will be a hospital inpatient for 2 nights while taking this drug and must be monitored due to possible dangerous arrythmia problems that could occur during dosing. has anyone else tried this drug with success?
Avatar m tn Did the doctor say to try for two months before lowering? We finally found a dose that works 125 2x a day, but I am breathless with very little exertion. This will not work for me, even tho I'm not real active, this breathlessness prevents the slightest activity. Afraid if I drop the 25mg 2x a day, and take either 100 in morning and 125 in evening, that the Afib will come back and will be harder to control...since I read that Afib begets Afib.
Avatar n tn I recently got diagnosed with AFIB and my vitamin d level is low. My gyne wants me to take 50000 IU's once a week for a month, but I am concerned that this will affect my AFIB. Anyone had issues with taking high dose Vitamin D?
Avatar n tn I also have the same issue. My IGM first came back borderline and then the 2nd 2 tests were just slightly positive. I don't have any history of miscarriages. I'm on 40mg Lovenox a day and have been spotting brown blood for past 2 weeks. I have heard Lovenox causes bleeding. I don't think I need to be on Lovenox. My Rhemetologist said some docs would think Lovenox is necessary while other docs would think I wouldn't need Lovenox.
Avatar n tn Anyone taking Lovenox? Im 9 weeks and between the lovenox and the prenat vit I feel groggy all the time..just wondering if lovenox makes you feel bad..
Avatar n tn I was put on Lovenox and a baby aspirin 2 weeks prior to miscarrying. The Doctor seems to think that when we get pregnant again that I can get on Lovenox and baby aspirin when i'm 7 weeks pregnant and that the pregnancy will be a healthy succuessful one. I'm just wondering has anyone else had a successful pregnancy taking Lovenox? Just really nervous and have alot of questions now. Should I go ahead and take the baby aspirin now or wait? The Doctor says we can try again in October.
Avatar f tn If I were you I would ask your cardiologist about it. Do you have lone afib? My first experience with afib was a ventricular rate of 250 and an atrial rate of 444, I did need to be cardioverted because the meds did not work. Luckily all my future episodes have stopped with meds.
Avatar f tn I am pregnant. Well 9 weeks to be exact. I am on lovenox because of blood clot. How about you? and how do you feel?
Avatar n tn 1) Have you ever heard of lovenox injections to prevent further clots in stents and 2) what are the risks from lovenox to her relatively healthy kidneys (after 30+ yrs of diabetes)? Thank you for your good advice. You were the only Dr. who said E.R.
Avatar f tn Anyone on Lovenox... Will the burning ever go away? Any advice of where to do the injections. My love handles are so soar and its only been a week.
Avatar f tn So I'm going on a daily dose of Lovenox, and I have to have hydroxyprogesterone weekly. I'm getting nervous not so much for me but my fiancé. He takes great care of me and idk if it's hormones but now with baby #2 being a girl it's a risk I may genetically passed or will pass my high blot clot risk to her. What if she has miscarriage problems or risks having going into labor early. I worry about my son too- I just found this information out today.
287479 tn?1272730364 I am 22 and I have had three miscarriages in the past year. I've never gotten past 6 weeks. My doctor did a batch of bloodwork on me, as well as shooting dye into my uterus and tubes. Everything in my blood work came back fine, except I have MTHFR, which is a blood clotting disorder. We finally feel ready to try again. My doctor gave me a prescription for Lovenox 40mgs once a day. Plus I'm on Folic Acid. Has anyone taken this and had a sucess story?
873190 tn?1304812975 Hi girls. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on Lovenox? My RE is putting me on it with this next positive pregnancy. We just ran another series of blood tests and one came back positive for blood clotting. He said this particular type of clot would is associated with second or third trimester losses, whereas all four of my mc have been around five weeks. But he said it is reason enough to do Lovenox. I don't know how long I would have to take it.
645220 tn?1233764146 Hi I just did my first lovenox injection and think I might not be doing it right. I really had to push very hard for the needle to go in then it stopped about a third of the way and I had to jam it in the rest of the way. does this sound right? I have plenty of fat so it's not as if I got held up on muscle or anything.
