Lovenox bruising

Common Questions and Answers about Lovenox bruising

lovenox

Hi girls. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on Lovenox? My RE is putting me on it with this next positive pregnancy. We just ran another series of blood tests and one came back positive for blood clotting. He said this particular type of clot would is associated with second or third trimester losses, whereas all four of my mc have been around five weeks. But he said it is reason enough to do Lovenox. I don't know how long I would have to take it.
After I had my son it came back I was anmeic and I was put on iron pills for a lil bit. So I didn't know if maybe this was related either? But if it was that, wouldn't I be bruising everywhere? What do you guys think the bruises are caused from? Thank you all so much!
just out of curiosity.... anyone use Lovenox with their ivf/fet cycle? And if so, when did you start the injections? My ER wants me to start the injections around O date (we are doing FET cycle). My question is.... wouldn't it be better to start sooner??? Wouldn't blood clots have already formed in the uterine lining by then? Or does the lining start to grow around O date? (I know I know... you would think I would know that part being a 4th time IVF/FET patient...
I am 4 weeks pregnant, and it was highly suggested (based on the results of bloodwork drawn right before I became pregnant) to take daily Lovenox injections, as I am at risk for bloodclots. This has been the most miserable part of being pregnant, as I am a little wimpy about giving the injections... I am just wondering if anyone else is on or has been on this regimen and and have any luck making it a little less painful and any trick of the trades with avoiding the bruising... THANKS!
I am on lovenox 40mg once a day....I am 30 weeks pregnant now....I too was worried....but everything is going fine with this pregnancy....I had 3 m/c in a row and after testing they did find out I had a blood clotting disorder. Please feel free to ask me anything....Many blessings to you....
Do any of you ladies that take lovenox or heparin injections in your tummy have some hideous bruises? Yesterday I started Lovenox, and my bruise is nasty looking, it is small but definatly bruised and quite sore. Do any of you experience this?? I am thinking that doing this every night in a different place on my belly I am going to have a nasty looking stomach. : ) But, I couldnt be happier to have it, I would do anything for this baby!
This is my second time with lovenox shots. The first was just to start the thinning process then I was able to take warfarin. They never diagnosed my first DVT, I was told it was a fluke. I'm now 13 weeks pregnant and have a second DVT. After testing I have Factor V Leiden and take 2x daily shots of 100mg lovenox. I already have had 3 natural pregnancies so this one surprised me.
Right side abdominal - OUCH. DARN that one hurt like HECK! AND The bruising... Sigh. Oh well, can't help that right now. Just focusing on keeping myself and baby healthy.
Hi there, I now have an 8 month old and during my pregnancy w/ him gave myself Lovenox injections 2x/day....keep w/ it. My tummy is fine now (well, too darned fat, but aside from that) and now more bruising and no worse for the ware. My advice regarding the pain is to pinch the flesh a bit; inject, pinch a little, inject, pincha little. I don't know fi this "really" helps, but it seemed to with me.
Is anyone taking Lovenox or Heparin injections during pregnancy? Or have you taken either for prior pregnancies? I'm just really nervous about the fact that my doctor told me in order to get an epidural the drug will have had to be out of my system for about 12 hours. He acted like it was pretty common and no big deal, but I'm just worried. If there is too much of the drug in my system it could cause a blood clot causing permanent paralysis! I'm just a little freaked out.
just wondering if anyone else is taking lovenox shots. Any tips on how to keep the pain and bruising to a minimum? I've taken heparin before but injected into my thighs instead of belly.. putting the shots in my belly is so much more painful.
Hi Monica, I've never taken Plavix throughout a pregnancy, but I believe Lovenox is probably more expensive than Plavix (ie. lovenox is based on your weight. But if you weigh about 130 lbs, you'll need Lovenox 60mg syringes and a quantity of 10 syringes can cost about $1000 or more depending on which pharmacy). Plavix is available as generic now (clopidogrel) - generic is equally effective as brand name, but saves you a lot of money.
Did he receive Lovenox injections (while in the hospital) in his stomach? Did they put him on blood thinners? How big are the bruises?
I'm bruised up pretty bad from the Lovenox shots. How long does it take for the bruising to go away and is there anything I can do to speed it along? Thanks for your help.
Is that medication similar to lovenox . I take lovenox injections once a day and baby aspirin daily to prevent clots. Lovenox are pretty measured shots that are injected into the stomach.
I am currently 8 weeks pregnant due on jan 1 2015 and I have to take the lovenox injection which is causing some painful bruising in my stomach. I haven't been feeling good lately I have stomach and lower back pain due to a uti im taking the medication that the doctor prescribed me but the pain just doesn't go away is there anything i can take for pain since im on a blood thinner????
com as another resource (the high risk board). There are a lot of women on that sie on heparin/lovenox and they have a wealth of knowledge on it. I was on lovenox because of clotting issues and they were a great support. How are you doing with the bruising?
i had a large bleed on the 8th Jan, and so had an early scan on the 12th Jan which showed a healthy 7week fetus, it also showed a 5cm bruise on my uterus, i'm having a repeat scan on the 25th Jan, to check on the bruise my midwife says that it will probably have either disappeared all together or atleast have decreased in size, she says that uterine bruising can be cause by implantation, i'll let you know how i go on Love Dawn xx
I finally talked my RE (who is pushing 100) to give me Lovenox. He said not until i get a + test can I start it (he believes the homozygous MTHFR I just found out I have has nothing to do with our loses ad believes the whole MTHFR is a crock of poo). I heard they hurt like heck and am in no RUSH to give them to myself (needles don't bother me but man I hate the liquid that hurts!) but I got a line! Hubby said he doesn't want me to use that stuff until we have a definate line.
I have been put on Lovenox and Coumadin (the generic). The Lovenox is to be cut once my INR's are stable. However, I have developed terrible headaches which start about an hour after coumadin and then last until about 3 hours before the next dose. I believe that it is the coumadin. Could the generic be different than the name?
I currently take one 81mg aspirin every other day because I was bruising so badly on the daily dose. I will continue this until the day of surgery and then after, I'll do the three days of Lovenox plus 2 months of some oral thinner like Coumadin. It's strange that after all I've been through the last two years that I'm afraid of the blood thinners. I'm very active and I can see me falling off my bike or getting banged up at an autoX race and bad things happening.
You will have a pressure bandage on your groin where the catheters were inserted. And there may or may not be bruising in that area. I only had bruising one time. After the ablation, you'll be up and moving in a very short period of time. I went back to work after three days. Good luck with the procedure and look forward to being AFib free.
the high risk OB says to just take Lovenox. So, how expensive is two shots of Lovenox/day for 10months? Also, you can't get an epidural if you're on blood thinners...it could cause a stroke :( !! So hard to decide what to do....has anyone taken Plavix througout a pregnancy?
A week before we bridged from Coumadin to 120mg of Lovenox 2 times a day. Surgery took place and the Dr said all went well. After a few more days in hospital he was feeling fine and no pain or heart issues!!!!! YEAH!! 13 days later ( 1st day of sophmore year) (missed ALL freshman year) because of blood clot issues and was tutored..
I have a beautiful purple bruised lower abdomen to show for it and all the Lovenox shots for a week and 1/2! The symptoms I had, (had I known at this point I could have done something earlier and they could have prevented all my pain and other stuff) were: Now mind you, I'm also experiencing the nasty nausea but not vomiting and no fever.
i think it best if you add lovenox or heparin as one of the tags ? Cause when i was searching for a group like this i just typed in lovenox .
my wife suffers this exact set of symptoms -- pain and bulging veins in the right calf and ankle, but had not seen local bruising; however, in her case, i give her daily lovenox shots in the upper thighs for a clotting disorder, and i'm thinking the local hematomas caused by those shots must provide the equivalent circumstances and produce this other set of problems... i know this is not an answer, but it may trigger someone to think of the connections and provide an answer...
After all, they are punching holes in your leg. It wasn't unbearable, but it wasn't fun. I also had some bruising and discomfort in that area. I didn't feel anything when they were doing the mapping and ablation. If having some pain in your leg is the worst that happens, you can deal with that, right? I think it hurt just about as much when they started the IV. I can't say, don't worry. You are going to worry.
