Common Questions and Answers about Lovenox and platelet count

lovenox

7552771 tn?1469929649 Thanks. Is it like serious? Or harmful to the baby? I just found out I have gd and they said my platelet count was a little too high but not by a lot. They didn't tell me anything else.
Avatar n tn She is now taking lovenox injections to see if this prevents further clots because 1 platelet count came back slightly elebvated and it should have been zero (it was 288).. 1) Have you ever heard of lovenox injections to prevent further clots in stents and 2) what are the risks from lovenox to her relatively healthy kidneys (after 30+ yrs of diabetes)? Thank you for your good advice. You were the only Dr. who said E.R.
Avatar n tn I recently had a colonoscopy and was told to stop anti-platelet medication 6 days prior to procedure and there is a risk of excessive bleeding if there were polyps...none found....but my point is to discontinue anti-platelet medciation for a few days is not a very large risk...excessive bleeding can be much higher risk. Personally I would discontinue blood thinning medication prior to any intervention. Take care, and I wish you well going forward.
Avatar n tn As far as I know lovenox is no reason to perform a c section. If you are unsure, then please ask your Dr. why he/she wants to deliver you this way. Your wishes do count and it's important you feel comfortable and confident in how the actual delivery takes place.
Avatar m tn I had hep c and have cirrhosis my platelet count has been in the 80 to 90 range for several years. Mine actually increased on treatment with harvoni and ribavirin which I think may have been a side effect of the ribavirin which drove my red blood cell count and HGB down so my guess is as a oercentage my platelets appeared to rise due to the decrease in other blood counts. But yeah sudden significant drop I would ask my doctor about that.
Avatar f tn Sadly my Platelet count is ..........drum roll.....55 I have the infrequent bruising and little red dots from it. My doc said sometimes the platelets are shaped crooked so the test doesn't pick them up. I can tell you I think a lot about my platelets these days and wondering if and when they'll go up. Damned disease left me with all this damage. At one time a couple years back I was 145. I think that's in range on my labs.
1327032 tn?1288840755 In Feb 2010 I did some bloodwork and my platelet count was 257 thous/ul and I started treatment 5/21/10 well on 6/2/10 they did another CBC and it seems as if my platelet count is 145 thous/ul . Is this something I should be worried about?
429647 tn?1249753429 I have been trying to get my last cycle of taxol/carbo, but unable now for the last two weeks due to low platelet count. 1st week it was 80 and now has dropped to 71. Needs to be at 100 for treatment. My clinic says there isn't anything they can do for that count except wait. Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone been there?. Thank you.
Avatar f tn What can I do to raise my count? I'm 38+1and its being tested weekly, and this week it rose three points but otherwise its been lowering. Is there anything I can do to raise it?
Avatar f tn A normal platelet count typically ranges from about 150,000 to 450,000 depending upon the lab where the blood test was taken. When the number of platelets is low (called thrombocytopenia), you are at risk of bleeding more easily than a healthy person. Such a low platelet count can be dangerous in itself. More importantly such a low platelet count is usually an indication of an underlying medical conditions. One condition that can cause such a low platelet count is advanced cirrhosis.
Avatar m tn After a transplant, how long should it be before platelet count and spleen size return to normal?
Avatar n tn My platelet count is 55but RBC and wbc appear normal . I had a bone marrow biopsy last week and get results tomorrow . Will post what they tell Tomoz . 27.9.
Avatar f tn Is it safe to use Lovenox and Ibuprofen at the same time? What kind of side effects should I expect if I do so? (I do not experience any pain). 2. Shall I be concerned about permanent implications (ie to kidney, liver etc) of using blood thinner? 3. After 10 days (when I stop the Lovenox), will I need a blood test? 4. How long would it normally take for such an injury to heal?
189269 tn?1189755825 Try to calm down. A primary physician is no expert in hepatitis or HIV. Get a referral to a gastroenterologist or hepatologist ASAP. You are in Boston. There are many excellent doctors there. Finding expert medical help shouldn't be an issue for you. I would also find another primary doc too. No doctor should speculate about a diagnoses without performing tests. To say that someone may have HIV without clinical proof is unprofessional, cruel and harmful to patients.
Avatar n tn I recently had my blood test and the results show 113000 platelet count. Would this be a cause for concern regarding HIV or Aids?
Avatar f tn Not sue if this will help, but when I did a research study to try and get rid of my phobias of doctors, my platelet count was very low. Years later I read a study by Dr. Hans Hertle who researched the effects of eating microwaved foods. He found out that blood changes (WBC, RBC, platelets, etc) can and are effected simply by eating microwaved foods. This story was profiled in the book Search for Health, by Tom Valentine.
360318 tn?1340393363 Doctor can you tell me that blood count , Crp, Platelet count and lymphosite count does it affect on a person having hiv.
1475202 tn?1536270977 Thrombocytopenia is sometimes described as a platelet count lower than 50,000. So you're not there yet and hopefully you won't get there. I sincerely doubt that you are close to needing a transfusion. With some surgeries there are doctors who prefer to transfuse blood or platelets in a patient with low platelets prior to surgery so, should you require a surgical procedure, you might need to get transfused. The risk of a low platelet count is bleeding.
Avatar n tn For low platelet count, vet said to come back in a week and test again. I am worried that we should not wait. Would a platelet count be that low and then suddenly go back to normal in a week? Blood test in November showed normal platelets. Could an ulcer bleeding cause this? There is no evidence of blood in stool, either red or black. Please give me your thoughts on this? I am SO worried.
